I give my Maltese a teaspoon or two of yogurt daily. the plain one, no added flavours or sugar. I find there is no face staining or tear staining and besides its good for their gut health.

Wow, he's really well behaved in the sink, and soooo little. My Malt, Oscar, is 12 lbs. He's a year old and actually does pretty well in the sink. He really doesn't get fidgety until I get to his head, then he starts trying to climb out, but not very forcefully. I usually just soak him with the sprayer hose that's part of the faucet, then apply a liberal amount of shampoo. He tolerates the gentle scrubbing and after I get his head wet, he settles down when I start scrubbing his face. It took a few baths before he realized it wasn't the end of the world. The part he disliked the most, was the blow dryer. At first, he did everything he could to get away from it, but just like the bath, he finally realized it was no big deal and now he just sits and lets me move the dryer all over without hardly batting an eye. The worst part of giving Oscar a bath is the pain it causes my back. I really wish my sink was about a foot higher, that bending over starts to hurt after a few minutes.
We've had a lot of different dog breeds, and I must say, Oscar is by far the cutest (Malt's just look like little stuffed animals), but amazingly, he's also the stinkiest. That long hair around their face just picks up everything they stick their face into...like their dog food. After a few days...PU, his little face smells like an old sock...WOW, I don't know how he stands it himself. If you like to give your little Malt hugs and kisses like we do, you just have to clean that little face every couple of days, and since Oscar like to lay on my chest when I'm watching TV, with his face so close to mine, it's just got to be kept clean.
I loved your video, thanks for posting it. You're little guy is so cute and little, he makes my Oscar look like a Great Dane at 12 lbs. LOL

The following Comments are clearly not medically based. Thank you for the extremely informative Vid on Malteses in particular. To debunk ignorant Comments: 1) Dawn is perfectly fine: ‘dog shampoos etc etc exist possibly for Breeds that have Fur not Hair (Maltese are Hair based, hence Do Not Shed hence need regular Hair cuts) but they also Exist due to Matketing Angles as in Moneymakers. 2) The Kitchen sink as opposed to a Bathroom related Tub: studies have shown that the highest amount of disease laden bacteria are Surprise! In a Supposedly Clean bathroom. Kitchen sinks May be prone to Salmonella if Not properly cleaned after preparing poultry from a raw state, however if properly cleaned as We have all been taught to do: there should be no problem. As an obvious example: the widely Used for human newborn to ? 3 months old or so Fold out Insert onto a double Kitchen Sink Human Baby Bathing tub!
    3) a concern as to the lil doggie’s Easily Seen Pink skin? Joking here right? You Do know Purebred Malteses, correct? This tone of their skin, that it is Easily seen under Again Their Hair, is Healthy And Normal.

Dawn? That seems harsh for a dogs skin and fur, it will strip the natural oils out. Not sure why you’d recommend that, but perhaps you should ask your vet before recommending it on TH-cam.
I do like the spray bottle idea, it seems like an easier method especially for dogs that hate bathing like my new puppy. I do think I’ll stick to the oatmeal shampoo I bought though.

Angel eyes will take care of the darkness that drains from his eyes and use bottled water not tap. We actually had a problem with our Maltese where she had hair growing inward in her eyes and it was making her scratch at them all the time and drain more so the vet suggested we have him laser the lids around the eyes so it wont ever bother her again. She looked pathetic for a short time but she is good to go now and doesn’t need angel eyes but we still give her bottled water.

So Dawn is really used to help clean off fleas & off rescued animals. I would NEVER use it on a healthy puppy. They have hair NOT fur, their backs that are very sensitive & pink. What your doing is striping the oils off & making the hair and skin dry. It’s just like you washing your hair with Dawn. Of course if this is a one time situation I understand but it shouldn’t be used regularly. I have two Maltese 7 & 8yrs old and have used gentle whitening Oatmeal Shampoo & Conditioner off Amazon. If you bathe them with the correct shampoos & conditioner over the years their skin will be soft (the pink can be quite sensitive and burns easily) and their hair will remain healthy & thick. You did a great job displaying the method for washing though. Your puppy is beautiful!

Why? Many people have dogs and children. Are the parents supposed to lock up the children when they bathe the dogs? How are children supposed to learn how to properly care for their pets, if they can't watch, comment or ask questions?
TH-cam is not for Hollywood productions. It's real life, usually.
This is a quick video, demonstration of how to bathe a dog at home, during the covid shut down, when people couldn't take their dogs to a groomer. She's helping her clients, who asked her to do this, she's taking care of her puppy, and she's being a good mom to her son. Multi-tasking and doing a great job.

If you don't like this video, then you make one and post it. (I can guarantee you that there will be someone who will tell you how wrong you're doing the job, too.)
Or just move along. Did you hear the puppy crying in pain? The puppy wasn't sure about what was going to happen at first, but she reassured the puppy, and I thought she did a good, quick job and showed her CLIENTS, who asked her to do a video, how to bathe their own maltese, while the shut down prevented them from bringing their dogs to her or getting the "proper" supplies. I thought it was very thoughtful and generous on her part. She may have lost clients, once they realized that they could bathe their dogs themselves.
Why do people feel the need to criticize every person who posts a TH-cam video?

This is probably the worst video I've seen on giving a dog a bath. First- you don't put a dog in a kitchen sink! For obvious hygiene reasons. Ummm... don't you have a bath or laundry tub.?? And dawn soap? No way. And what is that container/cup you wet the dog with? Goodness me, get one those things they use on professional groomers, or just put the dog under the tap

Maltese are pink skinned, white haired dogs, (single coat that doesn't shed) with black eye rims, noses and paw pads. He looks like a normal Maltese puppy.
She made this video to show people how to bathe their own dogs at home, using what they had available, while the covid shut downs were in effect.
I hope this helps you to understand the puppy is OK.
