  • All credit and thanks go to the owner of this machine, Pete. this is me showing off my basic skills of clearing mud around the workshop door, not without problems though, flat battery at the start, no reverse gear, turning the ignition off by mistake and finally (not shown) the fuel filter blocking up stopping the engine from running.

When using the front shovel. Quickly shove the boom down this will give you a float option where the shovel will just glide over the surface by weight alone. Use the 6 in 1 bucket to your advantage by using as a clam you cant start dragging the dirt backwards then scoop it up like using two hands to pick up dirt. The backactor, use the bucket and the dipper in unison. As you start bringing the boom backwards move the lever over slightly so the dipper and bucket work together. You can use the bucket like a trowel keeping it flat to the ground of desired. Use 1st gear when using the shovel, it provides more torque when going into a dirt heap for example.

Just keep at it, I remember years ago I had to think about the controls as I was operating both Cat and JCB both have different stick pattern, JCB seen to be smoother on the sticks, nice old backhoe thou !

Our boss just bought a jcb turbo not sure which model. We have a John Deere backhoe 2006 automatic which is easier to drive hence newer models. But the boom is a bit harder to navigate I have experienced with it. The jcb boom is very easy to navigate. But it seems to have some problems with the brakes and parking

    Hello,
at the very start of the video, do you know what the red indicator with a gear wheel and the two small arrows on each side correspond to on the dashboard?
Thank you it would help me a lot.

I just bought an older JCB sitemaster and the four wheel drive isn't working, is there a way to engage it or is it broken and the guy I bought it from "forgot" to tell me about it? It's really not a big problem I guess, I've been using it for two weeks now with only rear drive and never knew the four wheel wasn't working so I can live with two wheel drive if it is broken I suppose.

BY THE SOUNDS OF IT, THE TAPPETS ARE NEEDING SET, (12 THOU, INLET & EXHAUST VALVE'S) AS THEY ARE CHAPPING LIKE MAD. IF THAT IS THE GENUINE HOURS, THE OIL CHANGES WERE POORLY ADHERED TO AS THE TAPPETS SHOULDN'T BE CHAPPING AS THEY ARE AT 5000 ODD HOURS!!! MY PREVIOUS JCB 3CX SUPER DID 17,500 HRS WITH NO SPANNER WORK AT ALL APART FROM SERVICING AT 300 HRS INTERVALS!!! NEVER SOUNDED LIKE THAT ENGINE!!!.
