    I guess a 65 Mustang as straight as that one will sell fast as heck. Old trucks are even cooler to me. Is there an engine in that old girl? Probably a flat head V8? A project video showing it starting would be excellent.

    @ataristeve9753 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, definitely do a video on the F1 truck, both these would be good candidates to do videos to see if you can get them running and driving. The only option I see on the Mustang is the floor console. It has the standard interior, looks like no power steering or brakes. Air conditioning would be about the only comfort option available in 65, no power windows, AM/FM, stuff like that was available. The rust you really need to worry about is the cowl. If you can spray a garden hose on the cowl and it leaks like niagra on the inside, the cowl is shot. That is a lot of work cutting out rust and welding new metal in. If anyone can do it though, you can.

    Ben,
    I may have a buyer for the Mustang. She has one that is numbers matching that her late grandfather purchased new and it just got the back end crushed by a tree limb. It was previously in near showroom condition prior to the incident. She would really like to restore it and is having a hard time finding parts. I will refer her to this video so she can contact you. If you haven't sold or scrapped it yet, please hold onto it until she contacts you. Thanks very much.

  • @gosportjamie
    @gosportjamie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Judging by the tinted glass in the windshield and rear window and the interior trim pattern, along with the V8, that one certainly had a few options on it and might actually be fairly close to a GT without actually being a GT. With the value of first gen Mustangs now, even a hardtop is well worth restoring and that one looks like a more than decent basis...

    • @johnm6201
      @johnm6201 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's complete which helps a lot but you'd still have to spend your $$$ carefully

    • @gosportjamie
      @gosportjamie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnm6201 Absolutely, but it's a lot easier to spend a few hundred bucks at a time rather than forking out tens of thousands in one go to buy a supposedly restored car. Plus, if you do the work yourself, you know what you've got. A lot of vehicles sold as fully restored, especially in the US, turn out to be hiding an awful lot of sins under the shiny paint. The fact is,, if you're a private person restoring the car for yourself, you're never going to make money if you decide to sell it on as soon as it's finished. About the only way to do that is by being in the trade, which is why corners are often cut. But most home restorers don't do it for the money, they do it for the love of the vehicle, and they often tend to keep the results for a long time, by which time the value may have climbed to a point where it could represent a profit on what they've spent on the restoration...

    I watch your vids because I have a 74 corvette and a 58 Cadillac. I also have a 70 mustang! even more reason now to watch your channel. 1st gen mustangs are great, like corvettes, because nearly every part is available - used, new, or repro. The vin will tell you what engine it came with, most were T code (200ci 6) or C code (2barrel 289). The biggest problem on these is rusted out cowls as Ford did not apply any rustproofing. Anyway, it would be fun to see you work on it, but y'all got plenty o' projects

    Passenger floor pan rust-out is very common in the 1st Gen 'stangs. The scupper fills up with debris and then holds water and rusts through. You should make some money with the Mustang. The Corvette looks like its a basketcase.

    I'm guessing there is +/- 1.5" hole on the center tunnel just forward of where the console ends and a couple inches from the top. My wife's 65 Mustang coupe had that chopped off console because it was a factory AC car. The factory AC was an underdash unit with a Ford emblem on it. An AC line went out through the hole in the tunnel.
