I own a 2012 F150 supercrew 3.5l & just followed the instructions in the owner's manual (which is what this video says). My truck recognized the new key (the door locks cycled lock/unlock) & it now starts the truck & all the buttons work. All in on simple step.
brilliant! it's great that this 5 year old video (as of July 8, 2023) is this useful and most certanily will be for years to come. The only problem I had was actually waiting too LONG with each key in the ignition. 3 to 5 seconds and everything worked perfectly. Perhaps this is a quirk with the actual vehicle? No matter. Everything worked great :) Thank you very much!!
Great information, thanks! --TIP-- If you or anyone else doesn't know, you don't have to hold the key in the start position to start this model f150s. You can just blip the key to the start position and then let go of the key, and the truck will crank the engine for the correct period of time. I think it's 2008 era and newer typically have this feature.

Great video. I can't believe you need 2 keys to program a 3rd key. I currently have one working key and the FOB broke. My locks were punched out by a thief last week and so I literally can't lock my truck and ever get it unlocked again without getting my second key programmed by the dealership. Whatever I guess. Just kind of ridiculous that if you have 2 keys you can make a third, but a guy in my situation can't do anything but pay up.
Yes, with the Start-X system I bought. If you don't, as soon as you push on the brake, the truck dies. Which is good, that way no one steals it while it's warming up! 👍
Why the need for the 2nd working key? Could you not just insert the 1st working key twice? Just curious. I only have one working key at the moment, and was wondering if there was a loophole :) thanks!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I have a question: I purchased the OEM Remote Start Module that came with 2 new keys with the RS buttons on the FOB - Since I have 2 new keys to program to the truck via the ignition, do I do like in the video and add the 4th key at the end (Working key 1, working key 2, new key 3, new key 4)? Or do I need to repeat the steps in the video for each key (working key 1, working key 2, new key - take a break, then - Working key 1, working key 2, new key 4)?
I did the second method.... Key 1, Key 2, new key 1, take a break....then same process for 2nd key. I didn't try the other way but the way I did it worked.

But what I realized is that they actually did it, the guy just not know how the FOB worked. Life was good until one of the new keys disappeared. Fast forward to now and I had one none-remote start key and one remote start key. I had a 3rd key cut, programmed the buttons, but I could not program the dang chip itself. It turns out that my original key I had programmed as a "MyKey" for my kids. I had to remove that in the settings of the truck. It still did not work like the video, however I stumbled across a reply by Brandon in another post here that said to let each original keys chime only once when inserted. It worked like a charm.
Thanks for posting that you helped me out. Here's what I did: I just programmed mine 5 minutes ago and I think they were both mykeys. When I went into settings both keys had the check mark showing under mykey. So I guess that means they are mykeys. I had tried to do the procedure in the video several times and it didn't work and one time it gave me an error on the screen. Don't know the exact phrase, but something like starting system error. So after seeing your post I put original key #1 in and instead of waiting 5 seconds I turned it off and removed the key as soon as it had chimed once. Then I did the same thing with key #2. Let it chime just once and removed the key immediately. That first chime happens really fast. Then I put it my new key and it programmed it right away. I knew it worked because the doors unlocked and it showed the original door keypad code on the dash screen. Now I just need to get the remote start button to work. I haven't updated the computer in forscan yet so I guess that's the issue since my truck didn't originally have remote start.

Hey Mike, I'm not sure on that one to be honest. I haven't used MyKey at all, but i know they don't have all the same privileges as the full admin keys do. Kind of useless... if I had a second key I wouldn't need a third
Like your comment
I have both keys, and the opener button is not working in either key, I definitely need the third key.
HOW DO I REPROGRAM THE LOCK BUTTONS
Thank you this worked
If I had two keys why would I need a third?
"I have one pencil, why would I ever need a 2nd one?"
Because if you lose one you can't program a second, so it's best to program a third for if/when you lose one. Also, keys wear out sometimes. *shrug*
Doesn't work for a 2013 F150 =(
As of 2019 it is $300 for the key and to have it programmed by the dealer
Hibsbd
Thanks for the video
Exellent video thanks so much
Thank you very much
I just tried this, no luck
Try it with first 2 keys just until the first single chime. For my truck, it worked as in the video above, could be different models behave a little differently.
What year is your F-150?
You did use to start the truck at the beginning 🤔
Thank you
My Dad got 2014 Ford F-150 Twin Turbo 3.5L
It would be the same procedure for a 2013 Ford Explorer.
I only have a single key. the dealership wants $150 for a key. if it was only $65 or so I'd do it.
What if you only have one key
Is the new key will become the admin key too?
Thanks bro!
My truck responded with "INTKEY COULD NOT PROGRAM" I get the feeling I did the process correctly but something else is blocking it from succeeding
The new key is one with remote start the origin keys do not have the remote start button
So I have 1 FOB key that works. Ordered couple of blanks. My thought process is 1 take them to get the blanks cut by a locksmith. Then take them to the ford dealership? $$$$$$ thats all im seeing fly outta my pocket.
Here's a video on that. I haven't tried it myself so don't ask me questions. th-cam.com/video/8AJwD-0ar9c/w-d-xo.html
1:06 - My ears literally bleed whenever I hear that sound.
It didn't sound like that key started the truck.
What if I only have 1 original key
ItsYourBoy Juice unfortunately you will need to take it to a dealer to have it programmed. They do it for security reasons. However, if you get that one programmed, you can do the third yourself to get a spare.
If it's a for you can still program using pats in forscan.
*Ford not for, sry
@@bskifton do the keys off ebay or amazon work when taken to the dealer
@@TheBrianduffey They should no problem. As long as they are made for the right truck. Listing on eBay or Amazon should tell you. I had a 2005 before this and too an Amazon key to the dealer and they programmed it.
$75? Hehheheh
Today 9.15.23
I paid $420 for key and programing
Los Angeles
Yep, it's horseshit. $500 for a fucking key is a scam. Sadly, if you don't have 2 (like me). You're SOL.
so why not show both processes? lol.
How to fix 2014 mustang key Fob button
th-cam.com/video/WqskKV7Z-po/w-d-xo.html
I hope I don't need two keys!!! 🤬🤬🤬 That's not helpful 🤬🤬🤬
F150 will not start
I have to have 2 keys. Probably never will need a third one
If you lose one of those 2, you will not be able to make a spare with the one. If you make a third, you can lose one and still be OK.
75 bucks really 245 bucks
Only 75 dollars!?!
Totally doesn’t work this way. You need to turn it on and off only one chime with each of the first two keys.
Bold statement, considering the video you just watched *of it working this way*. Not to mention all the comments below of people saying things like "Thanks really helped" and "Worked perfectly."
Seems like it works via the one chime method or this way. Either way, this video is 3.5 years old, might be time to move on.
The "one chime" method worked like a charm when I wasn't able to program my 2 new keys by waiting as long as recommended in the video.
Who need 3 keys?
Because it takes 2 keys to program the third. Lose 1 key and you still have 2 keys. Think outside the box Hector
In my case I'm buying a remote start kit which comes with two new keys so you might as well get them programmed
