@Motormouth, I'm surprised you never mentioned that the ILX was supposed to be the successor to Canada's only Acura CSX which ran in production from 2006 - 2011 with 2 generations. Also you failed to mention no manual transmission option, and the dreaded engine that still dated from the 9th generation civic.
Where's the Type-S that Acura was talking about during January of this year? And for 35k you are ending up buying the privilege of Acura's badge, when you can opt for just as much with a fully loaded Honda Civic Hatchback no? Not to mention in Canada you guys get even more amenities and options than US, which I still don't understand...

I'll be honest I just picked up my ILX A-spec premium for 31k. It's MSRP is about 34k taxes in. I'll be honest I use to drive a Mercedes C300 and this is much much better in terms of quality, the material actually feels great to the touch and feels very premium. Not even my Mercedes or even my friends Lexus or their BMW could argue that. I think after driving it for a while I can confidently say that I will for sure be a life long customer.

Like I said in a previous post, an n/a 4-cylinder looks a little too try-hard with a dual exhaust... why would you insist that it should have dual outlets when you know it has no benefit to performance? Everyone is so used to every car having twin tips, that it's become sacrilege when a manufacturer deletes one!

@@davidg4026 As much as for little add on wings, dark wheels "oversized" tires, and so on, dual exhaust pipes have become synonymous with sport car looks. If done correctly, a nicer exhaust note and better exhaust gases flow, can result of having two instead of one. And it will definitely look the part!
But I understand where you going David.

3:23 what do you need in 2019? A freaking ILX on the new Civic platform. This refresh means at least two more years running on an old structure. Little by little Honda just keeps giving all their resources to themselves and put Acura like the child in the third row seat that nobody pays attention to. The refresh looks handsome but it is not what Honda’s premium brand needs. I own two Acuras and I am not hating one them, on the contrary, I want them to build something that keeps me in the brand.

For the money, the ilx is hard to beat, when stacked against it's luxury brand competitors. While not the most thrilling option, it's a well rounded car - rather than doing one thing particularly great, it does everything pretty well which makes for a great daily driver. Plus, for those who've never experienced it, the optional ELS sound system is to die for. Yes, underneath it all, it's essentially a fancier civic with a few more premiums but after 45 years of the Civic proving itself on the road, is that really such a terrible thing?

Had a leased 2016 Premium and loved the car besides the fact how bad the the infotainment was, now fast forward and my wife and I have a 2020 ILX Premium A-SPEC. Same quick and nimble car that is fun to drive but with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and IMO much better exterior styling. Yes the dual screen is still crap but this really is a stop gap car for Acura since all next gen cars will have the same tech and style as the current gen RDX with the touchpad, tablet like screen, and shifterless setup. While the current RDX is a gem with its turbo engine, the K24 engine is a proven engine that is bullet proof. The in house designed 10 speed DCT is probably the best DCT engine out there whether it be Hyundai or Mercedes. The 10 speed DCT has been on the market since 2016 so it has had a software update or two but mainly it remains unchanged and without any issues. The luxury car wise the ILX simply doesn't compare to Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW but it also costs less than $10K less compared to them when similarly put together. Even when you compare the ILX to the Civic it still holds up well since the Civic Sport Touring doesn't quite perform as well as the ILX and uses a newer turbo engine paired with a CVT. While Hondas tend to be reliable we just don't know the long term reliability of the Earth Dreams turbos since the CR-V has already had problems with oil leaking into the gas. Also while Honda does make a great CVT, it's still a lifeless CVT. Sure you could go with a Civic Si, but then you are stuck with a manual and more so you just don't get the premium feel. Sure there are the Hyundai/Kia hot hatches and while those are a great value I still prefer Acura's DCT since it has a torque converter and Acura overall simply has a more premium design and brand cachet. In America the ILX starts at $26K but I would say for a little more the trims most people should be looking at are the Premium and the Premium w/ A-SPEC sicne with incentives rebates both cars can be had for $26K or less sale price

I'm sorry but I must disagree, this is a very dated car. The chassis is dated, the infotainment is dated, and the 2.4L engine is EXTREMELY dated. The only thing that I like about ILX's is the exterior and the 8spd DCT. Acura's whole lineup (other than the new RDX) need new engines. The 1.5L turbo from the Civic is a good start, the 3.5L V6 in the MDX and TLX either need electrification (MDX does have a hybrid but it's ridiculously expensive) or turbos, especially if Acura wants to bring back the Type-S moniker. I could go on and on about how Acura completely missed it with this and a few of their other models, but I will not. I'd rather pay more money for an Audi S3 with quattro AWD than an ILX.

Comparing it to the new Integra, this ILX wins on all fronts; K24 & DCT seemingly provide longevity and years of trouble free service VS. the Integra's new 1.6T mated to a CVT. I'd say, skip the Integra and get an A Spec ILX while they are still around.

I had a 2012 TSX and I loved it coming from a 2007 ford focus. This car shares the same engine as the TSX with a Civic Platform. Believe it or not, this engine was the accord engine back in 2005-2007 ish. They just changed the compression and made you put premium fuel in it to give it that HP boost from 150 to 201. I like this car and the styling, but the single exhaust is a deal breaker for me. I do wish they bumped up the HP to maybe 250. But sharing the same platform as the Civic will definitely make this car an AMAZING daily driver, with great fuel efficiently. I guess the buyers for this car aren't targeting more HP and duel exhaust.

Exterior refresh of the ILX is welcomed, seats are ok and the engine is great (this could have been used in the 2017/18 CRV, and 2018 Honda Accord for reliability's sake). The Interior is disappointing to put it mildly (steering wheel and dashboard is just too old for 2019). The Air-conditioning vents are too big for the dashboard and are not nice to look at. Design cues from the interior of the 2019 RDX could have definitely helped here. The 2019 Mazda 3 would actually be a "better value for money" while not classified as a "luxury compact sedan" as the Mazda 3 looks so much better inside out.

Nasir Mire I used to drive a Lexus IS 250 and and I would say even that Lexus was more luxurious and that car was made in 2007. Heck they even had push button start which the Acura TSX wagon didn’t even get. The Lexus IS I had had more premium features to and the leather in that seat was top notch for an entry level luxury sport sedan. I have a 2013 venza v6 and a 2015 Mustang ecoboost now.

Hey Motormouth! My wife and I are looking for a smaller car than her '05 Lexus ES, which is very comfortable and quiet for long-distance travel. Can you describe it's highway-ride features? Also, (since we'd be taking leaving the highways for long stretches of our trips) how does it mountain-road twisties? The ES is floaty and makes me wait, which slows me down. She doesn't mind that, but I wonder if this car, in your opinion can cut and thrust these sorts of roads. I know the power is down, but maybe it's fun on these roads is as a momentum car?

It is a fun little car. I expect the next gen, which I believe is 2021, will finally offer a turbo. I am thinking the 2.0t from the Accord which will give the car about 100 pounds more torque would be a very nice fit to an 8 or 9 speed dct. That would place the 2021 ILX above the Civic SI but still a little below the Civic Type R in terms of sheer power.
