I like the dual display. I want my nav/phone app on the top while still being able to select my music at the bottom. Having that separate system is a plus for me.
Who needs turbochargers when the naturally aspirated engine is quick enough and sounds amazing. Honestly, turbochargers really drown out the engine’s groan, which it then replaces for an ear-bleeding whistle.
I narrowed it down to either this or the Nissan Leaf, I think I’m going to pull the trigger and pick this one up next month. Thanks for the informative video!
Love the New diamond grill on this ILX. It totally change the character of this car. It looks more aggressive and modern. This is a awesome change in styling for Acura. It's like a baby RLX Love the back as well. The price isn't bad at all for this class of car.
Acura interiors simply cannot compete with the other luxury marks. They simply aren’t as nice as even a Lexus but don’t hold a candle to interiors like a Mercedes. Anybody who says otherwise has never been in one. I’m sure it’s well built as most Honda’s are. But it’s not a luxury interior.
That’s the best part about Acura...the fact that they’re still ver nice(not on the same level as German cars) but not far behind coupled with superior reliability and maintenance costs compared to its German counterparts. With a stronger motor this car is gorgeous and basically perfect
Acura isn’t competing with Lexus with this car. This is one of the most affordable “luxury” new cars you can get, they’ve got to cut corners somewhere. It competes with the A3 and the upcoming A class, and even still it starts way cheaper then those cars
I don't understand why Acura didn't just make a 2nd generation. Are they planning on dropping it from the line up or something? It look better though that's for sure.
It looks great and also great build quality, just not enough power for a 35 year old male who wouldn’t want to ditch his VW GTI for it. Maybe better for a cool upper middle class family buying their teen a new car and ditching the hand me down camry for them.
They nailed the look. This is the first car that really takes the new styling well. The Hofmeister kink on the rear doors ist still a bit jarring but otherwise - great job. But it should at least have the 2.0t from the Accord. This doesn't need 400 hp but an under 6 second 0-60 would make this a very tempting small car. AWD would make it fantastic.
It's definitely better looking than before, but until they give it more power and actually make the A-spec mean something (performance wise) it's too close to a civic touring.
I wonder if they’ve refined the ride and interior noise. They nailed the styling, but I’d be hesitant to buy this unless they’ve made it ride quieter and better. When does the embargo lift?
DMN absolutely right. the only argument against manuals anymore is that they’re fun to drive. Automatics are better in every single way. Carmakers cannot cater to the small amount of people that make up the enthusiast community in the US. It’s not smart business.
Why couldn't they just give it a full on redesign? This body is becoming outdated anyway, and now we're gonna have to wait another 2 years for an all new ILX
Right! They made this car look completely different than the last model, all they needed to do was redesign the interior as well, and it coulda been the next gen ILX
Number Two, Yup definitely, They changed as much as they could to give it 2 years and see how the sales do before investing in a complete redesign, Mating the DCT to the 1.5T is the first thing they'd do for sure making Civic Si power or a little more, As others commented though a 2018 Accord 2.0T 10 Speed or 6 Speed Manual is a WAY better choice but hey.. people are still buying Audi A3's with less standard features than this ILX so there's definitely a market for it.
Welcome refresh on the outside, but inside is old and dated. I’ll take the interior of the newer generation civic please. The two screen layout and oversized vents with the scooped passenger side dashboard isn’t aesthetically pleasing for a luxury/performance brand. Very 2010 on the inside but the outside is a welcome refresh :)
We really need a proper performance varient of this car. Plus they really need to ditch that double screen setup.. I feel like it's holding them back in interior design.
Isn't this on the old Civic platform? If so, I think that's a bit of a shame, The ILX needs to get on the same platform as the current 10th Generation Civic utilizing Honda's latest iteration of the ACE structure. Handling and safety will be significantly improved.
Alpha_717 the TSX was a good car. The only thing that may interest you if you want awd would be a WRX. Reasonably priced fast vehicle with awd. I would love this acura in an awd but if not I may settle for the redesigned WRX supposedly coming in 2020.
I think the car is nice, but what throws it off is the duel screen. They need to get rid of that crap already. Honda Civic has the single screen I don’t understand why they can’t put a single screen. Like they did with the RDX
Nice video! I hear you say the premium has rearcross traffic monitor, it actually doesnt. It does have a factory installation option though. Other than that i love your enthusiasm!!
I've seen a couple of reviews of this and, honestly, I don't see any difference other than the front fascia. Which is nice, but not worth buying it for. The other review did say the ride was still poor. Do they have to only give out A-Spec models to review? That's the last trim I would ever buy.
Although styling is subjective and everyone has their opinion, all I can say is thank the powers that be for doing a better job of getting rid of the Acura beak. It's been getting better with each new model release, but I finally feel like I don't need a paper bag for the face anymore. Now if they could just bring back the magic and soul of the Legend and Integra, I might be interested. Your thoughts may vary, but I remember when Acura was born and the original Precision Crafted Performance ads.
Nice car by Acura, it looks the part of luxury that was lacking before, judging from the previous models with the 2.4L engines, it should be entertaining to drive.
Alot of manufactures are doing it idk why but I'm sure it saves alot of money and they're probably thinking about prices when it comes to replacing turn signals.
That's true people are to blame for no track 6 speed version. this is no boy racer model. But how I miss those days of tuning my own engine competing with others on the track who believe in the absolute limit of performance.
my question and im sure alot of people are wondering but how much power can the DCT handle...im actually considering ILX then going turbo instead of buying the Type R. if anyone knows please let me know..ive looked around but nobody seems to have tested the DCT limits or havent posted about it. if the DCT can handle about 300-350WHP then im sold on the ILX.
How did you not mention the fact that there’s an ACTUAL tailpipe in the rear now??? How’s the license plate placement change the BIGGEST change in the rear?! Smh
I love my Acura but they are still missing it! This car should come with Type R motor for $37,000??? The RLX should come with the NSX drivetrain for $90 to$100 grand??? Does anyone think these would sell or is this an insane idea???
Well if I didn't have my KA9, I would probably get a 2019 A-Spec ILX and lower it 1" all around on KW's (professionally tuned for comfort and road feel) and get higher offset aftermarket wheels. That'd be my ideal daily driver and cruiser ;)
Okay. So when is Acura going to finally just redesign this car on the latest Civic platform. This car should be on the current Civic platform with the SI 1.5T making 220hp/220 tp with the 6 spd manual or 8 speed DCT that Acura currently has.
I like the new body style especially the head lights and the not sure about the hood it looks to bulky the tails lights kinda looks like the new 2018 Audi A5 convertible but I do love that red leather but if only Acura made it to a manual transmission and I don’t know what they haven’t turbocharged that K24 from that factory
Lol that means Acura basically ripped off all the people who went with the outgoing model. They fr dropped 2k on the base price and made it much better, damn I’d be pissed
I'm really disappointed the ILX still retains the overall dash look of the previous generation Civic. It just looks cheap. If the ILX continues on and receives a whole new body in the future, I hope they do as good as the new SUV they just redid.
I love it, most happy about the gear shifter, I do not like the push button transmission. Over all I'll end up adding the new Acura line to my collection. Aspect AWD options only 👌👄💓
I like the dual display. I want my nav/phone app on the top while still being able to select my music at the bottom. Having that separate system is a plus for me.
That engine is bulletproof, that’s why Acura is sticking with it.
Yes, but is the new transmission bulletproof?

Finally an ilx worth buying.
Now they just need to drop in a more powerful motor
Turbo
tommy d u b b s Acura is probably not going for a turbo cause of the oil dilution problem with the civics
For under 30k, I'd consider picking this over an A3 or A-Class.
Looks way better, but Acura still has a long way to go. Good start with the RDX
Put the civic type R in this car. So people don’t have to buy that hideous civic

Outside looks great, the infotainment system looks like hot garbage.
Agreed
agreed.
Definitely. Wish they put the new Accord system in this car
I just have no idea why Acura still use this old infotainment design in 2018
They really need to fix the os on the infotainment system, it looks like my aftermarket head unit from 2006
Only thing missing is the 6 speed manual transmission. This would have been my dream car if they still offered manual transmission.
This car with a manual transmission and the 2.0 T from the Accord 😀
Andrew Rohletter I feel like Accord is not as sexy looking as this.
Accord is a bigger car. Go with the civic and 6 speed manual.
Lol it has a dct
DCT is actually better than manual though
Why the unnecessarily loud elevator music?
Now I can't unhear it
This car is on its second refresh. Unusual in the automotive world.
Cuz it's been muted and ugly af

Beautiful sedan. They should've updated that steering wheel too though! It's the exact same steering wheel in dad's last car, a 2009 Acura TL.
1st impression, the badge is HUGE!!
I was thinking the same thing. It's too big for me.

If Acura only had the balls to put a manual in this car... they don’t!
Car Nut yes I agree
They have the balls...they're just smart. The profit margin on a manual ILX would be so minimal its not even worth entertaining.
Slower, worst mpg, sell less, I literally don’t see the point In having a manual transmission in pedestrians vehicles besides off roading..

Over-styled. Seems like it’s trying too hard to stand out. Plus the A-Spec is a gimmic. No powertrain improvements. Miss the TL type S.

Wait for the redesign model.
Nah. Turbo motors are not for everyone. Just something about an NA motor that I love. Kind of biased here as I drive an accord with a J35 in it.
