    Great car overall. Have a 2017 and will be picking up a 2020 in a few days. K24 is great, dct is fantastic, seats are super comfortable, rides well. Added perks, customer care, dependable, great warranty.

    Ive had a 2015 TLX and a 2017 TLX (both leases) first was a base and second was the tech package. most recently went with the 2019 ILX A-spec to try something new. Have and apex blue car. great engine and moves the ilx so much better than the TLX. have driven the tlx with the 6cyl. didn't like the trans on that car. So from 2015-2019 driving the Acura product line, I feel like the looks of the new ILX are great. the 2.4 in a lighter car is even better. Im new to Acura/Honda, but think the light car (ilx) with the 2.4 dual clutch and the looks is my favorite so far.

      I have the same car (2019 ILX). Have you ever experienced episodes where the throttle became very unresponsive while driving, almost to the point of being dangerous? I love my car but have had this very strange problem.

    • @racerx2084
      @racerx2084 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not the throttle, it’s the transmission. Does the thing where it feels like you have to press the gas pedal multiple times to get it to down shift. I have a 2014 with the 2.0 n 5 spd. I test drove the bigger k24 engine and 8spd and really was disappointed. Just like a lot of the higher spd transmissions they switch gears to fast. With this the rev happy k motor does not get up to its power. When I paddle shifted the car it was fine bc I was in charge. But other than that I felt it was a slouch bc of the trans. Have to say I love my 2014. It’s the best bang for the buck for its class in the used car market right now.

      The engine/trans combo of the ILX are truly it's best features. It's the rest of the car that pushed me to a Mazda 3 turbo hatch. Having said that, picking up a low mileage used/cpo 2019-2020 ILX for under $20k wouldn't be a bad buy if you like what it offers. Go much above $20k (unless it's an immaculate example with less than 15k miles or so) and I'm not sure other cars aren't a better overall value.

My ILX has lost some weight since purchase and I ve tweaked a couple things. I like the dual clutch with torque converter, though I d prefer manual. I ve owned 4 diff Civic s in the past and I d say I like this car the most. The paint gets alot of compliments. I have had no problems with it since I do all the maintenance myself. Great commuter car , decent mileage and hassle free.

Second, non Honda people always find fault with things us Honda owners don't mind or saying what you notice in like a Mercedes that is missing, etc! For that I say ....then get a Mercedes!!!! This like a last hooray till New model so new one will be better...but for now...we love it.

    I hate to be "that guy", but...
    You actually can't get it in a manual (anymore), I work at an Acura dealership, Acura hasn't sold a manual transmission car since 2015, it's stupid, the ILX Dynamic which was the last manual Acura was a super fun car and it's such a shame that one of the more performance oriented cars in their lineup doesn't have that option anymore. Other than that, really good review on this one, I like the idea of mixing it up between average cars and the sports cars, keep it up!

  • @jbm0866
    @jbm0866 ปีที่แล้ว

    I do like the look of these, and it is a very good engine/trans combo. I actually considered a 2020 ILX A-spec before I bought my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch, and here are my thoughts: the ILX is old school Japanese, but not in a good way like the still for sale Lexus IS or the recently discontinued GS. What I mean by that is the ILX is rolling on bones that are more than 12 years old as I write this. That alone doesnt make it bad, (newer isnt always better) but this is based on the 9th gen Civic which had the misfortune of development starting just as the world-wide financial meltdown of late 2008-09 which caused Honda to cut some corners to make the Civic price competitive, and even the Acura trappings on top cant cover up all of it. As I said the engine and trans are the best part about this car, and it also looks good and has nice looking and decently comfy leather seats. Thats where the good ends. Many of the interior pieces are rock hard plastic, the split screen infotainment looks and feels dated, steering is very light and lifeless, and the suspension a bit too stiff without much payoff in handling prowess. I could have gotten an ILX for more than 3k less than what I paid for the Mazda, but there isnt a day that goes by where I feel like it was the wrong choice. Don't get me wrong, the ILX is a good car and should have rock solid reliability for all the things that really matter, but is it really worthy of the Acura name? I dont think so. Of course the same argument could be made about the current Integra, but I think that car has some extras that make it worthwhile vs the Civic Si its based on. (hatchback body plus a few missing luxe features) If you like the 9th gen Civic (the lastest is 11th gen) then I think you're better off saving a few bucks and buying a lightly used Civic Si of the same gen. You'll get the same engine and suspension, but it will also have a slick 6spd manual and limited slip front diff...both missing on the ILX.

    Usually auto makers put the best/newest____ in their premium branded vehicles especially ones that share platforms not Honda/Acura 🙄 I do like how the ILX looks vs the Civic especially the A spec version but overall it’s kinda a disappointment ( isn’t it on the previous Civic platform?) for about the same money I’d rather have an Accord Sport with the new 2.0L Turbo or stick with my current 1st gen TSX 6spd with basically the same 200hp K24 and no car payment.

    The ILX is not really a luxury car. It somewhere in between mid level and luxury. And actually closer to mid level. It looks good, has a proven engine and transmission, and drives well. But comparing it to Mercedes or BMW is a stretch. The ILX is more like what the Buick Verano was. Actually not as good as Verano to me. The Verano came with 235 tires. Im surprised you have to option up to A-spec just to go from 215 to 225 tires. Top trim for the Verano came with turbo making 250 hp. If I were looking to buy a compact sedan I’d look at top trims of Forte GT and then see if ILX price difference is justified.

      Keep your left foot away from the brake pedal, that will cause the car to go limp or loose power. I have had that experience with my 2019 aspec and haven't had the problem since I learned to keep my foot away from the brake pedal.

    Roads Untraveled or anyone, plz tell me how to rev to 5000 RPM in order for VTEC to kick in. Do I need to be in S mode and leave it in 3rd gear and just step on the gas til RPM hits 5k? When I do S mode without shift mode, it always goes around 3k-4kRPM and then it shifts automatically for me. (Liked and Subscribed your page!)

    200hp? Sheesh! Come on Acura! You make the NSX. Bump that hp up 30 or 40 more. Aesthetics are quite good, except the rear. Exhaust sound is wack, which sucks for 30 G's. Acura, take some notes from Hyundai, that N Veloster sounds great.

      Jack Black Compared the prices for the 2019 ILX Aspec and the Accord “sport” 2.0 Turbo, they both start at 34k in Canada. The Accord is still a better buy.

      I get $41,000 for a similar Accord (Touring 2.0 with 10 spd auto), excluding taxes. The ILX has a $2,000 incentive. Prices are not that close.

    What a good looking car, put a Mazda 3 interior in there with an Audi-type center display, and youll have one hell of compact! Also, depending on the look of the new TLX-Type S when it comes out, the ILX could get a similar but toned down interior. I think this more of a refresh than a brand new car. I know the interior is dated, but I think Acura is waiting to completey revamp their interior. I can see this car getting an RDX inspired interior eventually. What is also surprising is if you look a Mercedes, I think their best interior is in the new CLA, it is interesting to see that luxury car makers are prioritizing their compact, entry level, cars becuase those who get the bigger E class, or S-Class are just ponying up the extra cash to get an SUV. It's interesting see BMW, Audi and Mercedes completely revamping their compact cars.
