Larry: "Of course, the whole thing is weird."

But I also believe what Jerry said is closer to truth. The human mind and it's imaginings are more real and eternal and important than the fleeting present reality (the props). Its Schopenhauer basically, the world as will and representation. Do concepts like mathematics or aesthetic beauty or the owner of the house exist outside of human consciousness? It's strange that Norm says the existentialist's arguments can't convince him to commit murder but what he described is basically an existential way of looking at the world.

The world as it is, matter, time, place which is objective and exists in material which is still reality. They seem like they are trying to determine which is more important. Some people only think one or the other exist so idk. You can sway yourself to multiple conclusions easily and maybe he did go back and forth I would call that contention not contradiction.

For all the science worshippers in the comments: Norm is very familiar with the scientific method and does not deny that science works. He just questions most people's ideological belief that it is the only method to attain truth.
Stephen Hawking saying that God does not exist comes out of a clear position of prejudice: his method for truth is the only right one. He is going against one of the pillars of science: being open-minded. He comes from a close-minded position, like many of you.
Higher (absolute) truths can never be found out in evidentiary ways, that's all he is saying.
Look into spirituality, be open to that possibility. Science is based on philosophical assumptions

    • @Psychologist_Eugen_Fitzherbert

@Blind Brazilian Tex Atlantis You're exactly the kind of person I was talking about. Religion and Science do not contradict each other, only if you have a surface-level understanding of both.
Gravity does not apply to the sub-atomic level and is therefore relative, the word gravity and the concept behind it are imaginary things in your head, they do not relate to the actual happening of gravity. They are symbols.
Words and concepts cannot express absolute truth and absolute truths are also not communicable through language.
Be open-minded, study up on religion and spirituality

I like him for his knowledge in comedy, general culture, russian literature, vocabulary, history etc.. but regarding science Norm is a dope and that's ok.
That being said I agree with your comment affirming god does not exist is not scientific, everybody saying the real subject is "science vs god" is wrong. A lot of nobel laureats believe in some sort of higher power/entity.
Also a clarification about open mindness, a more accurate "pillar of science" would be fact trumps intuition. Let's not welcome any cazy rambling theory that are not based on observations, experiences and accurate predictions, just because someboby "felt" it.

I think Seinfeld, who practices Transcendental Meditation, is coming from the eastern-derived view of things, that the witnessing consciousness is ultimately more "real" than the world it is witnessing. • @1Dubbelman
    @1Dubbelman 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

Nothing Norm says convinces me even in the slightest of the validity of the core belief in all these religion:
    The existence of God(s).
Without God there is purpose, but three purpose is not universal and neverending.
All is temporary. The notion of a never-dying sould creates more problems than it solves. Everything in life ends. We see a plant grow and die, but we don't assume the plant soul goes to plant heaven. We see a cliff destroyes over time, bit by bit, by the sea but we don't assume that the cliff goes to cliff heaven.
Somehow an infinite, omniscient, omnipotent being created an evolved ape with limited intelligence and abilities in his own image?
Somehow the whole universe evolves around us arbitrary creatures on an arbitrary planet?
And if such a God doesn't exist that suddenly means life has no meaning???
Meaning needs to bend itself entirely to make humans immortal beings and ascribe universal laws and rules that apply to them or life has no meaning???
Life has lots of meanings, but they are bound by time, custom, space, psychology, biology. Religion has warped our idea of what "meaning" is supposed to be. A secular humanist philosophy can never replace religion because what religion wants as the "meaning of life" is something existence can never provide.
The people that look for that kind of meaning will never be satisfied by the answers life can provide it.
