Hi Maven - would these steps also work to restrict access to the entire Document Library of a public site to only the members of the group? For ex, our Finance team wants all staff to have access to the Home page but not even see the Doucment Library. It should be hidden from all except the Finance team. Thanks.
@@SharePointMaven what’s the best way if I want my project documents (another library) to be seen in the ms teams documents? Thanks for the help. Appreciate your vids
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I did what you said as I have a site with multiple document libraries with unique permissions. But when I grant a user access to one document library I can still see the title of all the other libraries and it says something went wrong. I also see the "See all" for that document library and if I click "See all" I get access is denied and I have the option to request permissions. How do I hide the document libraries title along with "See all" so users that do not have permission to them do not see them?
Hi Adam, thanks for following my content. In your case a library is embedded on a page and it cannot be hidden, unfortunately. If you had it linked from left-hand-side nav, then, yes, those would be hidden automatically. But not when they are on a page.
@@SharePointMaven Okay...I see what is going on now. When I removed the document library from the web part it removed it from the view the user does not have permission to. I think I need to redesign my site. Thank you!
@@SharePointMaven Hi and thank you for your videos and info! i was wondering based on your answer to Adam - I have a site with a page, and on the page i have links to different libraries. To manage the access, i when to Site Contente, clicked the library i wanted then when to Library Setting / permissions, and removed a group from (what i thought) was the library, but then i noticed that user lost permission to access the site not just the library - is there a way to change that? Thank you
Made me smile 5:23: "and now after John was removed from access we see here ... err John still has limited access ... err". From what I understand from sharepoint libraries: even if you eliminate all other users from access, certain groups still have access- like the site owners. This can be super annoying if you have multiple site owners in a large group so many people can help manage group members but you want to have private libraries with just 2 of the owners. This does not seem to be possible. Best way is to create a "private" teams channel which creates a new site. A bit counter intuitive from sharepoint
Correct Roman - Site Owners always have access to stuff on a site - they can't be removed. So Private Channels (site) is the way to proceed in such a scenario.
Hi Greg. Great Video as usual!! I have a Site i created for one of our teams. At the moment we have 3 owners including myself. There is one particular folder thought, that needs to be accessed only by one of the owners and 2 memebrs. I stopped inheriting permissions, added only the 3 people that are allowed access, but i noticed that i still have access to it (though i removed all groups - except for the specially created for these 3 users) How can i stop that? is it even possible? THank you

Yes, should work!
Hello! If I touch the permissions of the members and visitors, will it create a fuss on their access on the MS teams?
Yes, it will

I believe all of my document libraries are added as web parts. Maybe this has something to do with the issue I am experiencing.

Marina, you cannot remove owners from folders - owners will always have access to everything on a site
Hi SharePoint Maven, Can we restrict certain users from adding metadata columns in a document library?
Yes, but only if you downgrade their permission level from Edit to Contribute
