    Good review. I looked at the LG OLED and QNED side by side. I could tell little difference between them. The OLED definitely caught reflections more than the QNED. Overall picture quality of the OLED was "slightly" better, but then I felt the QNED appeared better on accurately representing colors. The most noticeable difference was when seeing both at more of an angle away from straight on. The OLED was superior. BUT, the 55 inch screen we were looking for will be in the bedroom, on the wall directly in front of the best, only 2.5 meters from where our heads will be positioned. Thus, from a straight on viewing perspective there really were no noticeable difference. And, I felt the contrast on the QNED was excellent and more than sufficient. Therefore, since the QNED ($565/455 BP) including taxes was about half the price of the OLED ($1,100/886 BP including taxes), it was a relatively easy decision to go with the QNED. Plus the QNED including free shipping to my door directly from LG.

    finally one of the more positive reviews! black levels are important with all these aspect ratios on films especially the 4x3 stinkers which will deffo test the dimming but after seeing hdr/dolby vision with dimming pro on max there is no difference between this & oled, pulling the trigger on the 86" panel tomorrow for 2 grand....

    Hi, just today I purchased an LG 86" Qned 999-QB TV and thanks to this video review of yours I am even more convinced of the choice I made. I managed to get it at a really low price, around €2,700 and I hope, as you have As you said, you are satisfied with how it behaves with video games like Ps4 Pro and Ps5. I wanted to ask you how you found yourself with the light and dark colors in films like Transformers or, if you've seen it, GT Gran Turismo. Thanks

    Remember fomo etc said last year that 2022 would be 8k where all the best tech goes. So at 4K OLED comes off as the best TVs but as soon as you include the 8k TVs, things change.

  • @Perception_
    @Perception_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The QNED 91 support VRR and because by the time 8K content is even close to being mainstream, you have already purchased new tv(s) which is why buying an 8K tv in 2022 is the opposite of futureproofing. If 8K is that important to you, I would go with the OLED version instead. QNED 8K is a very misplaced thing in my eyes because it doesn't serve a purpose. If overall performance is your need then I'd say QNED 91 is the best choice. If picture quality is your only/main focus, then OLED 8K(but really... 4K is still the better option because who's going to watch commercial snippets of 8K over and over and wait for 8K content to be more available while the technology slowly get older...)

      I disagree only for 75” plus tv. 8k scaling helps with the pixel density at a large screen. For smaller TV 8k is dumb

    With the LED TV, when I play on the XBox Series X console it feels like it's OLED, not just LED. It's a gorgeous led image with the XBox Series X! So what was the need for OLED or QNED?

      TV sets in shops are mostly on display in a (way too) brightly lit environment. To add to that; they are mostly set to 'Shop Mode', which sets the TV to a set of much too bright and vivid settings to make it stand out compared to other TV sets.
      At home you set your TV to a setting that is much more optimized to your conditioned home lighting (preferrably on 'Cinema', 'Filmmaker Mode' or something similar).

    QNED is better than NANO or not ? and why ?

    • @WhatGear
      @WhatGear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In theory, because QNED uses a quantum dot layer the colour gamut should be wider than a normal Mini LED TV.

      Honestly I have LG Nanocell is great for gaming and movies. The Nanocell have Dolby Vision and ATMOS also HDR 10+ can run 120Hz or like most people call fps and they support 8K videos I tested on TH-cam. LG OLED is good similar like Nanocell both are like twins. As I experienced many TVs for me LG win.

    Current 2024 model price at 86" after current promo deductions is £5K. Think I'll pass. The new Sony Bravia 9 at 85" is the same price, and you're paying massively for the Sony badge, so the LG is substantially overpriced.
