      @@grahamevans6428 well here’s some critique for the video in specific. His acting is garbage, I’m constantly disinterested at the information he provides and I find his delivery disjointed and awkward, and not in a quirky/cute way. The voice he throws doesn’t pass and even if it did, it wouldn’t matter. It’s still off-putting. I’m putting this here because I never would have seen or heard him anywhere otherwise, and I hope Toby doesn’t have him on again because at least Toby walks the line between immersive role playing and simply relaxed fun.

      @@thedeafelectrician420 I think you took it to far with this. Yeah sure her voice is a bit awkward but its a nice voice. Also, she can't change how her normal voice sounds, so It just sounds like your being mean. Not collabing with someone just because of thier voice is a really mean thing to do. Would you stop judging people on their voice and how they look? It is really not nice. Toby and PrimaDiva worked hard on this video to make it look good and to get the right info. Please respect thier work.

    Dragonite: I am on the top of the food chain!
    Ice types: Hold my ice

    • @ryanchoong4714
      @ryanchoong4714 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      But the thing is there aren't that many ice types in Kanto, mostly water and ice types and they will be living in the sea, dragonite wouldn't interact with them as much especially since dragonite is so rare while these ice types such as Lapras are also extremely rare.

      @@wegs1756 true, I remember Dragonite being mentioned to be the Guardian of the Sea or something similar, but as Toby said since Dragonite can fly I think it's more likely that they nest high in the mountains and only come down to the sea to maybe breed, since dratini and dragonair are found in the water. That would actually makes sense, Dratini and Dragonair aren't flying types and therefore do not have a 4x weakness to the Ice types found in their habitat, the sea. Dragonite gains wings and the flying type which gives it a 4x weakness to the Ice types so they no longer stay in the sea and don't interact with the Ice types anymore. (Or maybe it's the other way round, not sure)

    I don't think it's fair to say that there is "A" top predator across an entire region. But I agree that the options you gave are strong contenders, each in their own niches. Gyarados is certainly the top predator in the ocean around Kanto, though. Snorlax, much like most bears in real life, are probably omnivores - though Snorlax itself would probably just take advantage of whatever food was available, with other pokémon supplementing its largely plant-based diet
    Mind you, if the anime is anything to go by, most pokémon eat berries and other plants, either exclusively, or in addition to prey
    Though, that doesn't mean anime pokémon food doesn't include at least some meat-based protein as well. There's probably a whole bunch of different types, designed for different pokémon diets

    I personally have always figured the eevees are omnivores, to go with their whole "I can adapt to literally anything" gimmick. I see Vaporeon eating a combination of fish and kelp, Flareon is primarily carnivorous and cooks its own food. Leafeon just fugging goes full plant mode and absorbs nutrients so it doesn't have to compete for food. The rest may be primarily carnivores, as we see with Umbreon and Sylveon, but I think they supplement with various plants and fruit and can go vegetarian if they or the situation calls for it

    • @PansyPops
      @PansyPops 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh, Magikarp. It’s impossible for humans to eat, due to the Pokemon being pure skin and bone. Unfortunately, it still wouldn’t be the apex predator. Cats are able to digest bone, if they can bite it into small enough pieces. We can assume pretty safely that Persian, maybe even Meowth, will be able to bite the Magikarp’s bones into small enough pieces to swallow and digest.
      This is, of course, if they can catch them. Magikarp can (according to the pokedex) jump as high as a mountain, so it would be a tricky meal for Pokemon on the ground, but once it uses splash just once then it would be easy pickings for Dragonite or Charizard. Both of these dragons (using the term colloquially for Charizard) are able to fly extremely high and fast, so would be able to swoop onto a Magikarp and eat it (still assuming that massive dragons are able to bite through a Magikarp’s bones, and digest them).
      TL;DR: Magikarp may be (at times) a difficult tough meal for some Pokemon, but easy pickings for others.

    So here's a theory.
    If dratini really do hunt magikarp, maybe magikarp evolves to more closely resemble it's natural predator, as a bit of a defense mechanism.
    Then I guess dragonite becomes orange after it's pre-evolution eats enough magikarp or something...

  • @elmsigreen
    @elmsigreen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Snorlax is definitely like an elephant or a sauropod. It eats mainly plants so that it can stay too massive for anything to eat it. But like a bear, it will hunt if it gets the chance. I bet it might swipe a Slowpoke if it catches it on land.
    Dragonite also feels like a beefed up Charizard, probably because it supplements it's diet with plants. Also it probably stays closer to shores since it's pre-evolutions live in water. Also that way it's territory doesn't overlap with that of Charizard who stay further in land.

  • @jeffhirsh5722
    @jeffhirsh5722 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    thats easy Mewtwo.
    if not counting legendaries, then probably snorlax its to fat and bulky to become prey and its pokedex entries say it will literally eat anything, so i think thats a pretty clear answer.

    • @BirdKeeperToby
      @BirdKeeperToby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe so ^_^

    • @Muriuki34
      @Muriuki34 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I don't think Mewtwo would be a very efficient predator. Sure, it's good at *killing* everything aound it, and the dex states it to be extremely agressive, but that's kind of the issue. It's a giant nuke of psychic energy, to the point I'm sure that nothing actually gets close to it (I mean, just look at where you can find it in the wild).
      But also, its anatomy is also extremely thin. Malnourished, even. I don't think it's widely known, but one of the signs of very heavy malnutrition due to lack of food is an all around slender body, but a massive belly, which are things Mewtwo are actually sporting, on top of its very thin neck that even needs a secondary tube just in order to support it's actually relatively small head compared to the rest of the body.
      So, IF Mewtwo is a predator, I'm actually inclined to think it's a very bad predator.

    • @jeffhirsh5722
      @jeffhirsh5722 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TieYourLaurenDown mewtwo doesn't need to eat to be at the top of the food chain. he's just there because no pokemon can prey on him(unless your a pack of genesect but those don't live in kanto)

    • @Muriuki34
      @Muriuki34 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TieYourLaurenDown I mean, everything needs nourishment in one way or another. We're just not sure what it is, though with the Mew family loosely looking like cats, it's not farfetched to suppose they're carnivorous creatures.

    • @dragonbournee5270
      @dragonbournee5270 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Snorlax is slow, its also not about the weakness. (Also can't tell if this is a joke or not) 4x weakness doesn't matter when we talk about strength here, charizard rarely comes in contact with its four times weakness, this also counts for dragonite and gyarados since gyarados doesn't live near power plants and dragonite doesn't live near cold regions.

    I always just assumed the starter finals were the apexes of forest sea and sky (/volcano come gen 2 onwards) and the professors stole their babies to give to ten year olds to pacify them for future generations.
    Like, one mom and pop charizard pair probably bullied half of kanto until Oak kicked their butt and stole their eggs to give out to children. A venasaur was probably decimating the veridian insect population and a blastoise leaving tentacruel and cloyster carcasses all over the beaches.
