Whitney wasn't that difficult I defeated her gym easily with my team. True my Starter was at least 15 lvls higher then any of her pokemon. Anyway Fairy Type is stupid and unnecessary, Dragon Type already had enough weaknesses.

Steel resisted it but was not super effective, and Dragon has a resistances to a lot of common types like fire, water, electric, and grass. Fairy made it so that dragon-type no longer dominated the competitive scene with their often very high stats (as most dragons are legendary or pseudo-legendary Pokémon), which was overall good for balancing purposes. Fairies have their own weaknesses and can be countered, and dragons are no longer as overpowered.

I don't think never find out, but kidnapped gym leader would be really interesting. You fight through the gym, but either before you get there or before you start the fight, the evil team swoops in and takes them. You chase after them, but by the time you save them the gym leader is too hurt to continue training. You fight an evil team admin who just so happens to have the right type pokemon, and the gym leader gives you the badge when you get back to town.

The researchers have been forced to abandon the area as without any interesting findings for years, funding has fallen through. The research building is converted into the gym, but the door is locked and you have to travel through the underground maze in order to access a secret entrance. Not much is known about the gym leader, except that she’s the daughter of a former champion by the time you face her. She starts of with a Rhyhorn, and has a Gligar and finally Donphan as her ace. She’s confident at first but respectful when she loses. She awards you the Redemption Badge, telling you to take whatever path your heart desires in life, and not to worry about following any footsteps left for you along the way. Her name is Kamona, and in addition to being the Gym Leader, she also holds the high score in PAL Park for several years before your journey.
Kurt as the water type specialist using a Slowking from Slowpoke Well. In HeartGold and SoulSilver he mentions using his Pokemon to beat team Rocket only to hurt his back.
Whitney defeating Lance to become champion doesn't seem all that farfetched when you realize that everyone of his Pokémon are Flying type and her Miltank's signature move is Rollout.
You know the lighthouse kind of is Jasmins Gym in the game. If you want her badge you have to travel up it and challenge a bunch of port city themed trainers who could be thought of as gym trainers. And delivering medicine for the sick ampheros? That's just the unique puzzle behind that gym. Instead testing your tenacity by enduring steaming water, puzzle skills and mind as you slide across the ice or figure out teleport pads or answer trivia questions...Jasmine challenges your compassion, and makes sure your willing to go out of your way to offer compassion and care to pokemon to get the privilege of fighting her team for her badge.
I love that Rock Gym idea, what a twist. I think for Ground I would make it a first or second gym, maybe even an optional challenge early in the game. Since two of the three starters would have a type advantage anyway. I was thinking the area between New Leaf and Blackthorn, the grassy area you can access at the beginning of the game. A gym with a cave tunnel gimmick. The leader could be a type of miner, but the gym stuff is more of a hobby for him. Maybe a ruin maniac interested in the ruins of Alph. Anyway he’d use a Phanpy and a Gligar. Pretty underwhelming, but maybe his gym is an active cave with wild Pokémon to wear your Pokémon down before you find him. He gives you the Tunnel Badge and the TM for Dig.
The thing you did for the lake of rage gym with octillery, mantine, gyarados and the others was so good that I honestly would prefer that in the games, plus the rock type gym situation was really really good I would definitely want to battle him, great video Toby
I've been working on a Kanto/Johto prequel for a bit now which takes place just before the events of gen 1. However, rock is the only new type in the region and it's Jasmine who uses Sudowoodo, Corsola, Graveler, and Onix. The gym leaders in order are Bugsy, Walker (flying), Pryce, Morty, Jasmine, Chuck, Clair, and Will or Karen depending on the version. Then the elite four is Lorelei, Norman, Karen or Will, Agatha, and Lance is the champion at first. Oh, and Lance's events are weird. He's the champion until you beat him, but since you are heading to Kanto he is the acting champion. Then when Norman decides to become a gym leader (to spend more time with his family) Lance becomes an E4 member and the champion spot is vacant. Then Blue becomes the champion until he eventually resigns to be a gym leader and Lance becomes champion. Then Lorelei moves back home and Agatha retires, getting replaced with Koga and Will or Karen. So the champion is Lance > You > Lance (acting) > Blue > Lance (official) > Ethan/Kris/Lyra.

As much as I want to fear Whitney as a champion, I can't. Toby highlighted this in another video I believe but Whitney is only scary because it's so early game and we don't have access to many fighting types. By the time you get to champ timeframe, you'll have a much stronger team to deal with her
Whitney and her Miltank have become champion of the region, a fairy-type gym leader takes over her place in Goldenrod CIty, the Johto region soon gets used to this new normal. But do to the success of the new champion and her Miltank the MooMoo farm receives greater attention and popularity. Soon the ranch is forced to expand into the nearby woods, clearing it to create more pastures for Miltank and Tauros to graze. Unfortunately by doing so they displaced the many Pokémon that called the forest home. Furthermore the forest also produced a large number of Apricorn Trees, which would be purchased by Kurt to craft various Pokéballs. Not yet having mastered the craft herself, Kurt's granddaughter, Maizie, still feels the need to do something to protect the forest from further encroachment, so she does the one thing available to her he sets up a gym in the bounds of the forest and becomes its leader. Since Jasmine has been spending more of her time travelling to and from Sinnoh there was a need for a more steady gym leader anyway. Jasmine is not bothered by this or the Leagues decision giver he gym title to Maizie and is actually rather supportive of their idea, so much so she gifts Maizie with a Pokémon she picked up in her travels. Maizie's team will consist of: an Exeggcute whose home had been destroyed by the deforestation, a specially breed Farfetch'd, which has learned how to use the move Leaf Blade, and her ace being a Roserade which was gifted as a Budew originally from Jasmine who had caught it using a Friendball crafted by Kurt allowing it to bond with Maizie much quicker than normal. This is also why Budew can now be found in Ilex Forest as she still visits Azalea Town as often as possible.
I could actually imagine Whitney's gym in a distant future-remaster of the Johto games be repurposed into a Fairy-type gym, with Miltank either gaining or becoming pure Fairy-type itself, as many of the pokemon found around Goldenrod City and pokemon from Johto have already become Fairy type since then (Clefairy, Snubbull/Granbull, Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff, Togepi/Togetic, Marill/Azumarill) - her bubbly personality, title as *'The Incredibly Pretty Girl',* the use of color pink and her liking for cute pokemon would all fit nicely with some *cutesy-tutesy pink fairy pokemon* - I could definitely see either as a Fairy-type Gym Leader with Snubbull or Granbull in addition to her Clefairy and now Fairy-type Miltank
what if instead of collecting gym badges in Legends;Arceus we have to collect all of arceus' plates and the 'Pokemon League' is just a gauntlet of psuedo legendary and legendary pokemon we have to battle.
Another idea they could do, what if, when you start up a new Pokémon game, the gym types get randomised? First gym could be anything from flying to dragon, would make it so one starter isn't obsolete....... Sorry Chikorita
I don't think randomized into having dragon as the first or second gym would be smart because at that stage it could become downright impossible to win without obscene grinding unless they make sure the levels are laughably low to ensure the player can win with any Pokemon. I think starting with a Normal, or a determined type like B/W would be optimal, and then have 3-8 for sure be randomized. I say 2 is hard to pick because usually they have one notoriously strong Pokemon, Starmi, Scyther, Rosrade, Stoutland. Imagine facing a Tyranitar or Alakazam with level 18 Pokemon

For ground type, what about a gym near mt silver. Im thinking at like the base of the mountain as an alternate entrance before the pokemon League closed it off. Donphan and Pupitar can be used by the trainers. I think we should explore and "expanded" dex since so many Johto pokemon got evolutions. Like Ursaluna and Gliscor. Which would work great because im pretty sure teddiursa and gligar are found on the route south of. Blackthorn which seems like a logical place for a connection to mt silver. Alternatively, having on the route right after Newbark town, in yhat section that leads to a deadend could also be a good spot for a early gym for ground pokemon. But have Phanpy and Larvitar instead of the stronger pokemon.

I like this video mainly for the expansion of the Johto region, if there are ever more remakes of this region it needs to be expanded so so badly! New village on the lake of rage would be so cool!
I always imagined the gym leaders being the top 8 trainers in the region (besides the elite four) and they got gyms by the poke-government or something. My kid brain had an interesting imagination lol

I'm either before or after Clair at Blackthorn Gym. the gym puzzle is very similar to Clair replacing the lava with mud , you will build bridges over mud to come to me. in battle I use four pokemon and they are 1 Rhydon lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Rock Tomb.Avalanche.Curse. my 2 pokemon are Gligar lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Acrobatics (no held item) Steel Wing.Hone Claws.the third pokemon is Quagsire lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Liquidation.Yawn. Power-Up Punch and my last pokemon is Donphan lv 40 with Moves Earthquake.Body Slam.Rollout;) Defense Curl;) ;) but you will defeat me so I thank you for a good fight and give you TM26 Earthquake. and if you want to meet me again after you become champion so here I and my 6 pokemon always ready war battle and they are. If I had a Normal type Gym I'd have a Ditto, Kecleon, Smeargal, maybe a Chatot and have either Girafarig or Wigglytuff as my Ace. After all, your greatest enemy is yourself.

I’ve always considered Johto to be an extension of Kanto, think of it as “Western Kanto”, which makes both one region alone and here’s why: - why the hell would Johto have babies like Pichu and Cleffa but not in Kanto for example? Pikachu and Clefairy exist in Kanto, that’s illogical. - why would Steelix exist in Johto and not Kanto? Also illogical . - Johto is set a few years after and yet the share the same Pokémon League facilities? So in Johto, from Kanto’s perspective wtfff happen to ITS Pokémon league? They’re both the same, they just changed champions and Elite 4 lineup - Miltank is from Johto, the female counterpart to Tauros so they should BOTh exist on both sides of the map (and btw GameFreak is so incompetent, Miltank STILL DOES NOT GIVE TAUROS EGGS the same way Illumise have have Volbeat eggs... 🤦♂️) This giant region of “Kanjohto” is more “complete”. Other regions don’t because of hardware limitations, it just so happens that Gen 2 became its own game, sorta like a “DLC” to Gen 1

Alternatively for Water, you could do the other-gender rival from HGSS, since they already have a Marill. Make them a Gym Leader in Cherrygrove, which is by the water and also could make for a good early-game gym.

What are you talking about? The tower for Lugia? There was never such a thing. The seccond tower was constructed after the first one burned down still for Ho-Oh but it never cane because the golden bells where lossed in the fire I belive was the story. The only way you as player where able to find/summon Ho-Oh was because you had found the golden bell and rung it. Or am I completly mistaken and mixed some things up.

Maizie's team will consist of: an Exeggcute whose home had been destroyed by the deforestation, a specially breed Farfetch'd, which has learned how to use the move Leaf Blade, and her ace being a Roserade which was gifted as a Budew originally from Jasmine who had caught it using a Friendball crafted by Kurt allowing it to bond with Maizie much quicker than normal. This is also why Budew can now be found in Ilex Forest as she still visits Azalea Town as often as possible.

For grass type gym leader i considered the Bellsprout Tower Sage Li a good specialist for it with a bellsprout & skiploom.
I was not expecting the rock type gym leader, but I am 100% here for it. I think that would be the greatest thing.
I could actually imagine Whitney's gym in a distant future-remaster of the Johto games be repurposed into a Fairy-type gym, with Miltank either gaining or becoming pure Fairy-type itself, as many of the pokemon found around Goldenrod City and pokemon from Johto have already become Fairy type since then (Clefairy, Snubbull/Granbull, Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff, Togepi/Togetic, Marill/Azumarill) - her bubbly personality, title as *'The Incredibly Pretty Girl',* the use of color pink and her liking for cute pokemon would all fit nicely with some *cutesy-tutesy pink fairy pokemon* - I could definitely see either as a Fairy-type Gym Leader with Snubbull or Granbull in addition to her Clefairy and now Fairy-type Miltank
what if instead of collecting gym badges in Legends;Arceus we have to collect all of arceus' plates and the 'Pokemon League' is just a gauntlet of psuedo legendary and legendary pokemon we have to battle.

Another idea they could do, what if, when you start up a new Pokémon game, the gym types get randomised? First gym could be anything from flying to dragon, would make it so one starter isn't obsolete....... Sorry Chikorita
I don't think randomized into having dragon as the first or second gym would be smart because at that stage it could become downright impossible to win without obscene grinding unless they make sure the levels are laughably low to ensure the player can win with any Pokemon.
I think starting with a Normal, or a determined type like B/W would be optimal, and then have 3-8 for sure be randomized.
I say 2 is hard to pick because usually they have one notoriously strong Pokemon, Starmi, Scyther, Rosrade, Stoutland. Imagine facing a Tyranitar or Alakazam with level 18 Pokemon

For ground type, what about a gym near mt silver. Im thinking at like the base of the mountain as an alternate entrance before the pokemon League closed it off. Donphan and Pupitar can be used by the trainers.
I think we should explore and "expanded" dex since so many Johto pokemon got evolutions. Like Ursaluna and Gliscor. Which would work great because im pretty sure teddiursa and gligar are found on the route south of. Blackthorn which seems like a logical place for a connection to mt silver.
Alternatively, having on the route right after Newbark town, in yhat section that leads to a deadend could also be a good spot for a early gym for ground pokemon. But have Phanpy and Larvitar instead of the stronger pokemon.

I'm either before or after Clair at Blackthorn Gym. the gym puzzle is very similar to Clair replacing the lava with mud , you will build bridges over mud to come to me. in battle I use four pokemon and they are 1 Rhydon lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Rock Tomb.Avalanche.Curse. my 2 pokemon are Gligar lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Acrobatics (no held item) Steel Wing.Hone Claws.the third pokemon is Quagsire lv 39 with Moves Earthquake.Liquidation.Yawn. If I had a Normal type Gym I'd have a Ditto, Kecleon, Smeargal, maybe a Chatot and have either Girafarig or Wigglytuff as my Ace. After all, your greatest enemy is yourself.

I’ve always considered Johto to be an extension of Kanto, think of it as “Western Kanto”, which makes both one region alone and here’s why:
- why the hell would Johto have babies like Pichu and Cleffa but not in Kanto for example? Pikachu and Clefairy exist in Kanto, that’s illogical.
- why would Steelix exist in Johto and not Kanto? Also illogical .
- Johto is set a few years after and yet the share the same Pokémon League facilities? So in Johto, from Kanto’s perspective wtfff happen to ITS Pokémon league? They’re both the same, they just changed champions and Elite 4 lineup
- Miltank is from Johto, the female counterpart to Tauros so they should BOTh exist on both sides of the map (and btw GameFreak is so incompetent, Miltank STILL DOES NOT GIVE TAUROS EGGS the same way Illumise have have Volbeat eggs... 🤦♂️)
This giant region of “Kanjohto” is more “complete”.
Other regions don’t because of hardware limitations, it just so happens that Gen 2 became its own game, sorta like a “DLC” to Gen 1

The seccond tower was constructed after the first one burned down still for Ho-Oh but it never cane because the golden bells where lossed in the fire I belive was the story.
The only way you as player where able to find/summon Ho-Oh was because you had found the golden bell and rung it.
Or am I completly mistaken and mixed some things up.
That's anime only. In the games, the Burned/Brass Tower was the roost of Lugia, whereas the Tin Tower was the roost of Ho-oh.
