      Hi Manco, this bag was made by 511 Tactical products. But it has been discontinued and is no longer available. If you're looking for a back pack, may we suggest checking out some options here: www.ridersdomain.com/motorcycle-riding-gear/backpacks

      I love how honda made this bike with zero to no parts! The personalization to these bikes will be like the new grom for honda! I already seen a custom one and the guy said it only took him a few hours. Since the parts on these bikes are so easy to take off you can make of modify the parts on it!

      Heck ya - did you get all of your riding gear dialed in yet?

    • @AdamWaheed
      @AdamWaheed 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's exactly the theory Honda was going for. Thanks for pointing that out so accurately.

    • @ThrillaPark
      @ThrillaPark 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Almost. As a newbie it's been super tough to decide. So many options. And it can get expensive fast. Been a zombie in front of my computer checking out gear reviews for hours and hours. Then I watch them all again. And again!

    • @AdamWaheed
      @AdamWaheed 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, it's a good time to be a shopper - no shortage of options. Thing is, you don't need to plop down a bunch of money to get the good stuff. If you want some recommendations feel free to ask and good luck.

    ( I’m coming to this review 5 years later on purpose as I’m looking to buy a second hand rebel 500) I’m over in the U.K. and just returning to biking after 50 years in cars only, now retired. I only ride for pleasure and just want enough power to take a freeway route with my son’s group when I’m invited. Compliments on a very nice review and hope you are still well and riding. 🙏

    Good to see folks who recognize how great it is riding little bikes around in cities. Even if you're a big person (I'm 6'3" 210lbs.) a little bike might not be cruiser comfy but being able to flip the thing around in city traffic and parking has big advantages.

    • @RidersDomain

      We DID NOT get to see him ridung around the city. We only got to see the streets ahead of him. We saw the backs of cars and pavement. An absolutely worthless review of the Honda itself. The only time we get to see the bike is in some distant visuals ... and they're of different bikes.

    I bought the 300. I have ridden for decades and have owned many motorcycles. I do not take long road trips. When I did, they were few, but I had a separate motorcycle for that. Larger motorcycles that are good for road trips are a pain for everyday use. The 300 and the 500 are exactly the same motorcycle except for the engine and gearing. The 500 has more hp and the engine is smoother at freeway speeds. If you are going to travel for long periods on the freeway or frequently carry a passenger then the 500 might be a better choice. If not, get the 300. The 300 gets almost 20% better mileage and costs about $1700-1800 less after taxes fees. For daily use and exploring the back-roads the 300 wins. The lighter weight and extended mileage are major pluses. When you are out having a good time, stopping for fuel is annoying. Buy the rear rack and passenger kit from Honda. Get a Memphis Shades Demon windshield (NOT the Speed Demon). Put an Emgo (Amazon) travel trunk on the rack. Use the money you saved by not buying the 500. Whichever one you buy, do not sell it if you get something bigger. Wait and see which one you ride most. Enjoy! PS: get the silver one or the black one. The others look stupid as the only thing that has color is the tank. At least on the silver one, they painted the rear fender to match.

      Yes, the 300 cruises well at 70 mph. Drop it into 5th to pass. A little noticeable blur in the mirrors above 65, but nothing to worry about. Bar end weights would probably clear it up. It has a great riding position too.

Scratched engine case, bend shift lever and Maybe a broken indicator. This is worst case scenario in my head..ow and maybe fearings if u ride a sport bike.

    Have you ever rode a ninja 250?
    I really like the look of these bikes but although I'm not a speed freak, I like a bit of poke.
    My old ninja was a great bike but it had slightly too slow acceleration for me. Just wondering how the rebel compared to give me an idea.
    Got a naked 600 atm so I don't usually go much over 80 anyway but if I got one of these it would have to be a bit livelier than the 250.

      dre red I used to own a cbr300r and I'm now on a ninja 650r.... I wanted a cruiser and I knew I never wanted to be on a 300 again because they struggle at highway speeds (they can do it but it's not fun).... I sat on both the rebel 300 and 500 and they feel about the same but you are going to get a better performance on the 500.... i didn't learn with abs but I have it on my 650 which is a nice safety feature if you want to spend a little more. warning, you might grow out of a 500 within a year or so.

    I am not new to riding, I started out on a 750 Nighthawk ('84) and then moved on to an 1100 virago. The next bike I was looking to get was the Yamaha Stryker, but then this bike also caught my eye (for price, fuel economy, and insurance cost reasons). However, the "500" aspect scares me and the fact that everyone says it's an entry level bike. What are your thoughts? Would this bike be underwhelming compared to what I've driven?

    • @RidersDomain
      @RidersDomain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on my personal experience- even though a 500 like the Rebel can have decent acceleration at lower speeds, once you get up to highway speeds things get disappointing pretty fast. Especially if we're comparing to what you've driven, it's not something I'd heartily recommend. That being said, there are some people who are okay with having a bike that is really only capable of city riding. It is certainly somewhat of a break on your wallet as far as insurance and fuel economy goes, so if you're willing to look past the underwhelming engine displacement it could be a very viable option. I suggest you go to a dealer and take one out for a test ride. ~Andrew

    I test rode the piss out of the 500 when I got the chance, and I loved everything about it except for gearing and that unholy turn signal switch position. They're so short and close, it's a constant shift fest, which was unnecessary for all the low end torque that was on tap. Going to 4th gear by 32 mph is....not appropriate. Shave a few teeth off the back sprocket and it would be fine. Grippy, flickable, balanced suspension, effortless clutch. It had alot of virtues aside from the gearing.

    • @RidersDomain
      @RidersDomain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kalvin - that's a good question - it depends on the type of riding you are planning - is it four hours across town in the city, or four hours of freeway riding across Missouri? Off the top of our heads, the Ninja 650R with its versatile engine and full fairing could be a good option. We have a review on our website, check it out:

    • @WindFireAllThatKindOfThing
      @WindFireAllThatKindOfThing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd have to ask a few questions about you before offering an honest opinion:
      What's your size and age (height/weight)?
      Mechanical knowledge?
      Taking a passenger once you get some miles under your belt?
      Do you want to sit back, up, or forward?
      What do you like a bike to sound like (this is surprisingly important to people)?
      Do you have style or brand preferences?
      New bike or looking for something used?
      I *can* say that the Rebel 500 would be fine on 55 mph or less country roads for 4 hour trips, but I couldn't say it's up to 4 hours of 65 mph+ freeway time without making your wrists go numb from the engine vibration, much of which will be transmitted through the bars.
      Believe it or not, my all time favorite Freeway ride is a damn scooter. If you can make peace with the idea of riding a giant scooter, look up the Honda Silverwing FSC-600. Out of all the bikes in my garage (Harley Dyna Glide, Honda Silverwing Scooter, Yamaha R6, Triumph Street Twin, Triumph Thruxton, 1976 CB 750k, assorted dirtbikes) it gets the most long trip time, and now has 41k miles on it. It's just a plain comfortable and safe ride with tons of storage for trips. The Triumph Street Twin is probably the next best new rider bike, it's incredibly forgiving.

      Hi Dan - we used a RAM mount (product link below). It works quite well actually. The web rubber mount apparatus ensures that the phone stays in position and doesn't move even over bumpy pothole-laden roads. During our mostly city ride our iPhone 6S didn't shake. It's a good product. Thanks for watching.

      Hi Gloria, the subject motorcycle in that video is a custom one-off machine built by American Honda. If you pickup a new Rebel, we can connect you with a company that will help you build that thing to identical spec. Good luck.

      I am 6'3"-6'4" and went to my local dealer and sat on one... I would have to recommend against it. It has a really low seat height at 691mm (27.2in), and I felt cramped up within 2 minutes of sitting on it. If you are into the circular headlight design etc, take a look at the new CB300R (replacing the CB300F), it has a seat height of 800mm (31.5in) and feels infinitely better. While I was also initially obsessed with the clean bobber look of the Rebel, the new "neo-Cafe racer" design on the CB300/650/1000R actually looks very nice and I've come to prefer it to that of the Rebel even!

    I already got mine but the gear box has a hard and loud click when shifting gears, also when breaking on higher gears 4th or more it makes a whining noise. If I break on second or third nothing happens. Don't know what it could be, I will take it to the dealership. Great bike tho, and good looking.

      To behonest this bike engine was taken from the cbr500r which is a budget bike but I heard about it's gear issue however no one had it fail on them that just the nature of it. I ride an old 2007 ninja 250 (before the ninja 650 face update) and it's gears are worst when shifting but that's the nature of it.

      The hard clunk in first gear is normal. It lets you know you've slotted from neutral to first. Some bikes clunk when you shift up to 2nd gear too and that's normal aswell. When you say whining noise while braking, do you mean the brake makes noise or the gearbox? Do you not downshift while you slow down?

    • @RidersDomain
      @RidersDomain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it certainly is not designed as a distance bike.. In theory, with careful planning for fuel you could ride it across the country. That being said, as far as comfort goes for day-long rides back to back, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking to go across the country, I would suggest you take a look at a touring or adventure bike with bigger fuel capacity and a more upright seat position. The Rebel 500 does much better as a metro cruiser for city commuting and rides on local highways. -Andrew

      @H4N5O1O 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      good (not sure if it prevents tucking front im not that aggressive in corners) but when you go to dealer look at abs one under rear of engine under swingarm = big ass ugly abs pump

    • @garywest3763
      @garywest3763 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I have had Both ABS and NON-ABS bikes. Get the ABS bike!!!!, I have been riding motorcycles since I was 12 years old, so that is 40 years riding, I have had several panic stop situations over the years, locked the rear brake once in a panic and got the bike rear of the bike Sideways to the point I could see the rear of the bike trying to pass the front of the bike. another time I had a truck do a panic stop in front of me, I had to do a panic stop also, and again the rear wheel locked up and started sliding sideways and almost was thrown from the bike. GET the ABS!!!!!!!!!! you Never want to use it, but emergencies happen, no matter how good a rider you are, you will have to deal with other drivers that do Not pay attention, they may still be half a sleep, or didn't sleep for a couple of nights. What about when a car coming head on is in your lane. What ABS does is provide you the confidence to really Clamp the brake HARD!! without any fear that a wheel or two will lock up and throw you from the bike. What is it maybe $300.00 option for ABS? that is dirt cheap and well worth it.

    • @cagednm69
      @cagednm69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ABS is like insurance. You may never need to activate it but when its not your day you'll be glad you had it to protect your butt.

    • @RidersDomain
      @RidersDomain  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alex, here is what Adam says: "ABS is a great feature for new and experience riders alike - it helps take the worry out of braking by preventing either tire from locking up and causing a skid due to too much brake pressure or surface/pavement conditions. But for riders that like to slide or cut skids with the back brake/rear tire, ABS removes that opportunity. Overall it's a great feature, but it's always nice when there's a setting to manually disable the feature, if you desire". Thanks for the note and ride safe.

    I hope that Honda Taiwan figured out the problems they were having with their 500cc twin engines that were Failing fairly frequently. I almost bought a CB500X, but was also looking at the CB500F, those are the Exact same Engine/Transmission that are being put in the new Rebel 500. Cam plugs were Falling Out do to vibration and a Major oil leak occurs while riding and the engine seizes up and is JUNK!! I wish Honda would bring back their Manufacturing back to Japan, I know Honda is trying to cut costs to make the bike very affordable, but to jeopardize their reputation of building a quality bike is NOT a good sign. Go to the forums for the Honda CB500F, CB500X forum and you will see how many failure's have occurred and what Honda did or didn't do for their customers (Even under warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I'll pass, or at least wait for a year or two especially after seeing what happened with the other/Same 500cc engine/Trans and being manufactured in Taiwan.

      Nobody pay attention to this Gary West aka The Troll's post. First up, The 500 is made in Thailand not Taiwan. Learn your geography before you spout imaginary stories on the internet. The 500s had only one recall over a relay switch replacement that was common across all Honda motorcycles even one made in Japan because the vendor supply was common for all bikes..
      There are no issues with the engine and transmission of any 500 R/F or X bikes. So stop making shit up.
