    Hey, Sean, I sold my 2007 Yamaha Silverado 1100 and bought a 2018 Rebel 500. I'm 74 years old and been riding different bikes for 55+
    years. THIS BIKE IS NOT ONLY A BEGINNER BIKE, BUT A WELL SORTED COMPACT MOTORCYCLE THAT GOES LIKE HELL. I'm not apologetic about the bike when me and my buds (all have 1100 bikes) go on 800+ mile trips, this baby keeps the pace, but I end up more relaxed at the end
    of the trip because I'm not hauling around extra weight. I commited the sin of adding a windshield (not pretty, but comfortable), a cool, inexpensive exhaust, and a custom tailight, now it's my custom. You guys keep up the good work on these videos and Honda you keep up the
    good work too. Ride on, Bros!

    Its crazy that entry-level bikes are now 500+ CC. I started on a BMW F700GS (Detuned 800CC) and just switched to a 1870CC Harley Breakout 114. I will say something though, even though I passed my Harley academy test etc (We don't have MSF where I live), I wish I had a small Ninja 250,300 or 400 sometimes to just throw it around without the "fear of weight" and learn faster and ride more often.

      @STho205 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's to get the price up. The big manufacturers don't want to sell ANYTHING less than $4800, so super size it. The teen market really has no logical real bike under 25hp and for a few thousand ($2000 or under used) until they reintroduced the CB125 this year. However you must jump from 125 to 300/500 for street standards.

    I really like the look of it. Honda is kinda going with the Lotus method of power. Lightweight with enough power. Wet the Rebel is under 370 lbs. An Indian Scout 60 is over 600 lbs. it has about 28-30 more HP than the Rebel 500. It’s going to waste 20 of them on the extra 200+ lbs.
    Both are thought of as beginner bikes. I’d argue the Honda is a little more clickable at that light weight.
    Decent little bike, especially for the money.

    Victory Magnum 106 cu.in. 88bhp but best of all 5.95 gal gas tank and a 6 speed. Since the brand was discontinued I cut a deal with a local dealer to buy up his inventory that would fit or adapt to my bike. (No, none of it is for sale) Fast enough to pass when ever I desire, slow enough to not race sports bikes.... man has to know his limitations to keep both wheels on the road.

      I'd take the Honda over the Duc or HD for a new rider or as a commuter any day. The Street 500 is heavier, and makes less power. The Rebel 500 isn't a rocket - but it's plenty petty for highway riding. And the Honda will be more reliable, with less maintenance than either of the other two.

    Nice review. I particularly like the words of wisdom segment. I'm seriously thinking of learning how to ride. I live in Mass. I was channel surfing on you tube looking for bike videos and I came across this channel. I'm a subscriber now. The Rebel 500 sounds like a really cool beginner bike. I like the Vulcan S and the Harley Sportster. I looked at naked bikes, sport bikes but I think I would prefer cruisers and touring bikes. I know people hate on the Honda Goldwing but after watching a video review of the 2019 model, I was wowed by how refined it is. Personally I don’t like the rebel 500 ergonomically as much as the 300 version. For one simple reason, and that is that on the 500, the side case on the transmission sticks way the hell out and is lopsided off to the right side of the bike, and makes you have to awkwardly push your right leg further out than your left.
