  • For many years the Honda Rebel 500 has been the go to cruiser motorcycle for beginners. With a seat height of less than 700mm and weight bellow 200kg and the beginner friendly but potent 500cc engine the Rebel seems like a the perfect recipe for a beginner motorcycle but is it for everyone?

    I absolutely love my Honda Rebel. I’m 5’4 and this bike is perfect for me. You’re right, this bike is made for petite people and beginners. This is my first bike and within a few months I’ve already put over 2k miles on it. It handles extremely well for 500cc. It’s a great city bike and it handles the highways just fine. The suspension fits the price tag and modifying the exhaust with a TBR exhaust makes a worlds difference. It’s a cruiser made for people who want to cruise. If you want speed, Honda makes the 1000rr for you. I could go on forever on how much I enjoy riding my Rebel. Thanks for the review. It’s spot on. Taller riders would feel cramped, it’s just not for y’all.
    FYI, anyone interested in buying this bike, you will need to upgrade the seat. The stock seat is not great. I highly suggest a Mustang Tripper. Also, ABS is the way to go.
    Oh, and what absolutely beautiful scenery!!!

    Your videos are awesome as always!
    Due to you i started riding this year and, after 4 months of riding and already 10.000km done through Romania, now i m in a moto trip in Italy. Starting riding is the best thing i ve ever done and i m so thankful to you, Alex!
    As an idea, if u wanna take this into consideration, it would be great if u make reviews also for SH bikes. I think all your subscribers from Romania want to give u their bikes for a nice review on the channel. If u want to do this, my NC 700S will be proud to be on your channel. :)

    It would make sense to try to get for a testride the Kawa Vulcan 650. I think these 2 are competitors. Nice ride & chat as usual. Keep up!

    Great review as always. I\m waiting for the CFMoto CLC 450 to arrive and then do the comparison before buying one. Price is of the essence...since you have to sell a kidney to buy a new motorcycle nowadays :)

    Insane how you highlight the seat height and seat position as a regular eastern European compared to an Anglo-Saxon one (F9, Freddie Dobbs...)who would say it's just the bomber character!!

    • @RideWithAlex

      Maybe Alex has fat lower limbs, bad peripheral blood circulation and thus, the disconfort he feels?

    It is not a cruiser, it is a new standard. Look at the fork angle. Put a thick seat on it and stand back and look. It is a standard made to look like a cruiser. This is a good thing as it makes it easier and safer to drive.

    Hi from Virginia in the US, Alex! I'm a beginner rider (5'2"/158 cm) and my Rebel 500 fits me pretty well. My biggest problem is getting my Lady Pilot boot's toe under the gear shift. I also have Viking bags on the back which I've found make it kind of awkward for an easy dismount, but these are all minor. Safe riding everybody!

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Put a lot of miles on it, for your height it should fit like a glove and is an awesome motorcycle! :D

      The shifter is adjustable. Sounds like you need to raise it a bit. Plenty of TH-cam videos on how to do it. Easy peasy! Have fun and be safe!

    Hi Alex
    I hope to seek your view.
    If you are 1.7m, which would you choose, Meteo 650 or Rebel 500? And help me with 5 comparison points.
    Thank you so much!

      I like a cruiser position, but I prefer forward controls and the rebel comes stock with mid controls.

    Nice bike, but the price similar to the Yamaha bolt which is approximately 1000 cc, so the bolt is better in my opinion.

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Depends on the market, here at least the Bolt is not in Yamaha's line-up.

    • @francesco1998
      @francesco1998 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s because the bolt is a much lower quality motorcycle. (Plastic steering bearings that cause death wobble and zip ties to hold wires from the factory, among other cut corners from Yamaha.)
      And it’s air cooled, inferior to the Rebel’s liquid cooled engines.
      It’s also not all about CC’s. There are many other factors that go into getting a bike, CC’s should be relatively low on the list.
