If you're on a tight budget, it's best to leave arriving at Frankfurt Airport until later - the food prices there are exorbitant. The cheapest flights of national carriers from FFM to the UK are usually via KLM. If you travel out to Hahn, there's also a costly coach ticket to get you there, and Hahn is really run down these days. Sometimes it's easier to get a coach to Cologne airport and fly to Manchester, where you can catch an onward coach or train. If you're really adventurous, catch a coach/train up to Düsseldorf and fly from there. BTW: Many years ago, FFM airport had a cinema, so you could take in a movie to kill time.
Very true about Frankfurt airport cinema . 1988 ish saw Jaws 4 there with Michael Caine in English. Lived in and around Frankfurt with a few other Brits , mid '80s , saw quite a few films in English . Frankfurt had a large American forces presence then , presume they catered for them .
Apart from saving a lot of money this journey certainly provides some adventure. The worst part for me would be the hours and hours sitting around waiting for next leg of the journey. Plus I'd happily pay extra to avoid Ryan-pirates-Air. Well done Scott for calling their bluff - twice! I presume there wasn't a cheaper flight to e.g. London and a train back to Scotland.

Most times it is certainly not the cheapest way to get at my destination, I know that, but I like it.
you got howth on a good day on the way into Dublin. If your stuck in Dublin for a long time again a local bus to the nearby town of Swords for food and drink. Its only 10 minutes away from the airport

Sanford airport is sometimes billed as an Orlando airport. The middle of one is about 25 miles from the middle of the other; the airports are further apart. I think that Allegiant and some charter flights use Sanford.
Next time you have so much time at DUB, there is a pub about 5mins walk from terminal 2 that serves excellent food and of course a great pint. It’s keelys, a gastro pub. Leave the terminal and walk to the right, towards the Radisson Blu hotel, pass the hotel and the pub is in front of you.

It's bonkers you had to go to that effort to get home, but you saved a heck of a lot of money. Great channel btw - been a subscriber for some time now.

Once had to travel from Aberdeen to Esbjerg via Glasgow Heathrow Gatwick Frankfurt Billund... Took nearly 24hrs when the direct flight is under an hour.
Kealy's pub is 10-15 mins walk from where you did the video in Dublin Airport. Lovely pub full of locals and airport staff, very nice staff there and way cheaper than the airport. Standard Dublin Bus ticket to city centre is €2.60 each way.
Maybe I misunderstood/misheard but during the day you can get a return to Dublin airport from the city centre for much less than €25! The hassle is an 1hr + sometimes there and back on the local buses.
Highly enjoyable but painful !- my company tried to save money once by sending me from Manchester to Gatwick to wait all day for a flight to the Channel Islands- I lost the will to live after four hours walking around the building site that was the terminal !
Problem is everyone follows suit. If you book Easyjet and don't pay for speedy boarding it means there's only one desk for you and that one is only available as long as there are 0 speedy boarding people waiting. Even if Speedys have other desks dedicated to them. So after Ryanair now EasyJet became another non-starter.

Hahn airport! Growing up in the area that airport never made sense to me, other than putting a military airport to use. The general infrastructure in that area is so lacking that putting an airport in the middle of it was always going to struggle.

Great video(s), Scott. I once got a flight(s) from Vancouver to Glasgow for around £300, with what I thought were stops in Calgary and Nova Scotia. After buying the ticket I noticed it was layovers, it took me three/four days to get to Glasgow in all. I would not recommend 24 hours - midnight to midnight- in Calgary Airport, it's nice enough but not for 24 hours. Least I got to wander around Nova Scotia.

Actually, I was on my way to Japan but the reason for stopping in Madrid was to see someone that I had met in Sydney, Australia six or seven years before and had lost in touch but miraculously found on LinkedIn or something. From Madrid, I flew Qatar Airways via Doha to Tokyo.
