Sex would be too simple. This is a human material acquisition procedure to supply a live-fire exercise aimed at furthering nuclear proliferation as a front for proto-memetic warfare trials as part of a larger 4D longitudinal thought experiment in anticipation of theoretical frameworks to allow for collective consciousness manipulation.

I think knowing the true and full history of Big Boss' story makes playing as Solid Snake so amazing. You see SS break away from the same trap that caught so many other including the man he is a copy of and his brother. Solid Snake was literally made from the ground up to become another "Boss" but finds a way to prevent himself and the world from falling into the Patriot's trap. You see the same for Otacon too as he becomes a much better person than Huey was. But that isn't the best comparison considering Huey was back stabbing pond scum from the start. With Strangelove/Otacon and Solid Snake/Big Boss and even the Ocelot/The Boss dynamic you see children becoming more than what their parents could ever hope for.

It’s absolutely incredible the storytelling Kojima was able to pull off while playing through such amazing gameplay. The whole series is just a masterpiece on a scale almost unmatched except by Miyazaki’s (FROM Soft). MGS only gets better with time as Kojima’s story almost plays out in reality in front of us.

Invntiv I’ve been a fan since mgs1 on ps1 I never played the msx games but I tend to disagree. The genius isn’t in the storytelling and I feel that he’s devolved quite a bit since mgs2 with each title growing progressively less coherent. MGS3 was a total anomaly with it’s straightforward narrative when seen in a vacuum however when viewed through the lens of the entire series none of this stuff was ever planed ahead and he’s clearly making it up as he goes along and even going so far as the MGS4 story with the egregious retcons where he rewrites history how he sees fit in order to tidy things up which as far as I’m concerned actually hurt the lore more than it helped. We really didn’t need pseudoscientific explanations for the supernatural elements in these games I was willing to suspend disbelief in order to enjoy these epics and if anything MGS4+ has only damaged my ability to suspend disbelief because of it’s insistence on trying to make perfect sense of this “reality” whilst Johnny is flopping around shitting his pants. Tonally 4 is just an absolute clusterfuck and 5 makes similar mistakes except instead of even trying to make a cinematic mgs123&4 story we get these cryptic as hell almost David Lynch-esque dialogue scenes and the vast majority of the story is hidden via ingame cassettes containing hours of exposition dumps.

First of all, the feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any feeding problems. The slide's been replaced with a reinforced version, and it meshes perfectly with the frame. The frame itself has been iron-welded and scraped down multiple times for maximum precision. The front strap part of the frame has been checkered to make it dig into the hand. That prevents any slipping. The sight system's original too. It's a 3-dot type. It's got an enlarged front sight, giving it superior target sighting capability. The regular hammer's been replaced with a ring hammer. That enhances the cocking control and increases the hammer-down speed. They also reworked the grip safety to accommodate the ring hammer. It looks like they eliminated it altogether. This is a tool for pros. The thumb safety and slide stop are extended for precise handling. The base of the trigger guard is whittled down so you can use a high grip, and the trigger itself is a long type for easy finger access. The trigger pull is about 3.5 pounds. that's about a pound and a half lighter than normal. The magazine well has been widened to make it easier to put in a new magazine. The magazine catch button has been filed down low to make it harder to hit it by mistake. The mainspring housing has been changed to a flat type to increase grip, and it's even been fitted with stepping so that it won't slip from the recoil when firing. On top of that, they added cocking serrations to the top part of the slide. That lets you load and eject cartridges faster in an emergency. Whoever did this is a professional, no question. This thing could shoot a one-hole at 25 yards in a machine rest.

I imagine that this would be extremely confusing since the MGS series often creates drama and plot twists by writing characters who attempt to deceive, manipulate or control other characters in the story (and the main character always gets deceived). In MGS3, Ocelot was the character that confused me the most since he's a triple agent.
One of the things that keeps me coming back to this game is that these characters are so well written. Once you know what the characters' real motivations are, it's lots of fun to watch them try to achieve their goals while keeping their real motivations a secret. I enjoyed the game the first time (except for the camera angles), but I find it more entertaining to go through it again as the characters are usually very consistent with their actual goal. Hopefully, you will have the same experience.

31:00 - Zero's message to Sokolov is not exactly the same as Snake's catchphrase. Zero's goes 遅れてすまない (okurete sumanai) while Snake's catchphrase is 待たせたな (matasetana). There has been instances where 待たせたな has been translated inconsistently (like at the end of MGS2, when Snake tells Raiden "Been waiting long"), but this isn't necessarily such a case.

@@gluestickgenius2644 They use two different verbs, so immediately they mean two different things.
The first phrase uses the verb 遅れる meaning 'to be late' and joins it with すまない to mean 'sorry'. 遅れてすまない means 'sorry for being late'.
The second phrase uses 待たせた、past tense form of 待たせる meaning 'to keep someone waiting'. As for な、this is one of the ending particles Japanese likes to use, to give an impression to the listener. Usually this one is for seeing if the listener agrees with you, but in this case, the speaker is letting you know they're aware of their actions. 'Huh' is a perfectly good translation for this particle as English speakers like to say it at the end to get confirmation. By extension, 'Kept you waiting, huh?' is also good.
In summary, these two should not be confused as meaning the same thing in Japanese or in English. Like Japanese, English has a distinction between 'being late' and 'keeping someone waiting.'

Subscribing to you is one of the best things ive done on the internet this year. You help me overcome my recent illness. Ive been listening to your videos for hours while half conscious with cold sweat and all. I like to think i would understand any of your videos in one go if i`d be healthy, but i highly doubt it. The franchise and your viewpoints give me so much to think about. Metal Gear been with me since i was a child so this is perfect man. Thank you and godspeed.

This was great man, seriously. This has been what I've been craving witht the MGS stories. In depth and detailed down to every event. Too many TH-camrs wanna try and play lore historian and only cover the most major of events in Metal Gear and I don't think you can do that. There is too much minutia with this series to skip over the actions in between.
I hope you wind up doing this with all the Metal Gears or atleast 3. Keep it up, bud.

I agree with the point about Snake and Ocelot having a brotherly relationship. I've always seen the dynamic of The Boss as being their mother (well she's Ocelots biological mother) and Volgin as a boorish and abusive step-dad to the boys.
Apparently, in Mgs4, they're Snake, Otacon and Sunny are meant to be written in a similar family dynamic.

Dropping a like and comment for support. I think what I like most about your channel is the clear and concise dialogue you provide. I also appreciate your reluctance to theory craft. You have your speculations, but it's not the focus on the video. The information you provide is solely what's been presented in the games. I like that. You're pretty good~!

What an excellent video. Unlike other hack fraud youtube "analysists" who cant see anything under the most basic surface plot event and care more about internal consistency than anything else you hit all the right notes. What the themes are, how the characters carry said themes, how the story and everything else ties back into each other etc. Great vid

your ability to sift through such dense cryptic information and relay the most relevant and coherent bits is profound. much love from another kojima fanboy.
also it’s beautiful so see kojima still has such a love for story telling and writing after pursuing game design for so long. The novelist kojima lives on in everything he does-and this proves that in spades (imo)
