Getting the full British DIY experience. Most tools in the shed, check. Not enough room so gazebo set up, check. Rain rain and more rain, check. Putting it together in the kitchen while everything sits in the living room, check. Cat (sorry British dog) in the way at all times, yup. Grandad showing up to show how it's supposed to be done, double check. 🤣

Not everyone in America has a shop. My shop is basically a much smaller pop-up tent on my drive way. I even have to use the chop saw outside. But Sam is killing me with one blade swapping back and forth. The table saw and sliding saw should each have their own blade because they should have different hook angles for optimum performance. Also there's lots of time wasted keep switching back and forth.

Most of us pay more attention to the easy position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

Welcome to England. One of the things that I’m always amazed by, as a UK woodworker, is how massive US workshops are. I’m lucky enough to have a shop that is 26.2 x 10.8 feet. I still moan about that, but I’m very grateful for it. The first thought that went through my head when Jason said he was coming to the UK was “This should be interesting” knowing that he was bound to be working in a restricted space. I must admit, I wasn’t prepared for how restricted. Good job at making such a small space work though.

This has to be one of my favourite videos that you've done 🤣🤣🤣
I can totally relate to Sam. My workshop is 100% outdoors. I have space in the garage for all my tools but to do anything it all has to come outside. It's a headache but I'm used to it.
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the next comp winner.

HA HA HA HA!!! This was glorious! Love the work you did. The shed was actually pretty nice. Very compact but you both did a great job of working together to build the bed.

Brilliant! I really enjoyed this diversion from your usual content Jason - the humour was still there and you found lots of opportunities to express it whilst getting the job done. Thanks also to Sam, of course . . . and his girlfriend's breakfasts alone look like they were worth the trip you made.
An excellent video, more for its entertainment than for any woodworking info, but the half hour of watching flew past and had me laughing out loud a few times.
Thanks again to everyone involved . . . the only thing missing was a group photo in the shop . . . but I don't suppose you could all fit in there at the same time anyway.

hehehe, now you know the despair I feel when i look at your workshop, which that is bigger than my house, let alone your extension or even the house! :D
Cracking video though, shows that even with limited space and less tools what is possible. Love that the whole family turned out :D

Cool. I'm married to a Brit. Someday US immigration will let her live here full time. And Brits dont say a roast. The call it Sunday Dinner and 95% of them eat this roast on Sunday and because its the same meal they just call it Sunday dinner. Sam's grandpa looks like my father in law.

"Weird British dog" ... had me cracking up 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Brilliant episode! Enjoyed seeing Jason in England too (as a fellow England human) Sam was definitely the cherry on top haha Loved the banter. Also, as others have mentioned, the size of the shed was exactly how the majority of us operate "workshops (worksheds)", no huge shop unfortunately but the job got done so kudos! Really enjoyed this one 😄

As a UK (England) viewer and long time subscriber to your channel just simply brilliant. Loved the commentary as usual. Sam's shop is huge in comparison I have a fold down worktop in a corridor that might be fun to build a bed in especially as it is only a 4 ft wide corridor.

I smiled SO HARD watching this, it's SO similar to my situation. In my case my tool storage is in my living room, my shed is full of bikes and garden tools, so can just about fit lumber storage, and to work on anything I have to erect a pop up workbench, and I have a pop up tent handy if the weather gets rough! (Upgrated from a tarp propped up with 2x4s)

A beautiful end result, a fantastic, humorous video, and wonderfully relatable to the many, many people without huge workshops. It looks like Sam and his girlfriend did a great job as hosts too, but he definitely needs to splash out on a second blade!

I am 7 minutes into this video and have paused it as I am compelled to comment on what it is like for the majority of wood workers in the UK. Our houses, gardens, storage space are generally some of the smallest if not the smallest in any of the developed countries. Also the supply of timber, tools, workshop equipment is so limited compared to other countries. We watch videos of our wood working brethren in the USA, Canada, Australia etc and then go to our 6foot x 8foot “workshops” and attempt to recreate your amazing and sometimes colossal creations. I often find myself with a mix of conflicting thoughts and emotions from inspired to downright frustrated. What is the solution to this?? I don’t know, if anyone could tell me I would be eternally grateful.

I just loved this video. I moved to the UK about 5 years ago from Canada. If you want lumber over here, you have to track it down and buy it from someone who mills it. My wife and I renovated an old house remotely. I sent the architect drawings for my shop. The builder decided that no one needed a shop that big and shrunk it by 1 meter. I ended up with a glorified hallway. Most of the local trades people work out of the back of their van so what would they know? I have tried to squeeze in my proper table saw, drill press, jointer, planer, chop saw and dust extractor. The builders asked what my 10 inch General saw was. They had never seen something like it before. It is like the shell game. The best solution I could come up with is to put all of the big tools on castors and move things around like a valet parking lot. I work outside as much as I can but the weather here can be quite bad. A 3/4 inch sheet of ply that I had on sawhorses in the back yard got blow up in the air by a gust of wind, broke a wall mounted light fixture and they landed about 20 feet from where it started from. Luckily I was in the house on a lunch break. It was really nice to see you come and adapt to local conditions. You have a lot of patience. If you are ever at Disneyland in California, it is like 'Small World After All'. That is what it is like here. I have two acres and it is mind boggling to most people here. Kids ask 'Why is your garden so big?'. Sorry about our food.
