My daughter has been asking me to build her a dresser for years now, but its been so long she forgot she asked. Today I surprise her with a custom dresser that matches her other bedroom furniture I built. As a bonus I built her some llive edge shelves, and she was more excited about the shelves than the dresser.

The woodworker that never makes mistakes is a liar. Doesn’t really matter how many mistakes are made, although frustrating, it’s the ability to fix them that counts. I always appreciate the honest ones. Keep up the good work.
Exactly!!!
@@JonnyBuildsmeasure twice, cut once. Realize you messed up the measurements, so measure three more times and cut one more time. 😂
All "mistakes" are learning /teaching moments
@@williammaxwell1919 agreed. I know I certainly learn more from failure than success... the lesson sinks in deeper, faster.

100% AGREED !
Your daughter's reaction to the shelves... WOW! You may not have built them, but you facilitated their build. Kudos you and Jeff.
still a massive upgrade from the actions of most parents which would be to give the kid an IKEA gift card.. that girl will be 90 years old.. weeping every time she tells her great grand kids about the time her dad surprised her with these shelves. IKEA cards don't have that power IMO. :P
@@ioncladstudio2688 If my momma had given me a ring out of a gumball machine, I would cherish it for the rest of my life. My father could build a house with his bare hands & I would set fire to it. I would tell my great grand kids how my mother went without so she could give me an IKEA gift card. That power doesn't come from material items.
Her happiness and appreciation is what made this entire video. The craftsmanship was awesome but her face and smile is what made every mistake worth it all. Way to go DAD
You, sir, are not a mediocre woodworker. Your stuff is amazing.
Thanks, Bezos!
Chloe’s reaction was worth it all. So pure and loving.
What a lucky daughter ❤
Thanks Bozo! They look fantastic sir.
You’ve built memories for her. That’s really sweet!
And honestly, not just memories... heirlooms.
Chloe's reaction is priceless! The dresser and shelves turned out amazing!
Thanks Bezos. Just a tip, the T nuts you used to attach the legs should go on the inside of the cabinet so that when threaded in, it compresses into the wood. (This is what they use to attach climbing holds to walls, if the nut was on the outside of the wall, you’d rip it right out!) Like the design and pop of color!
I don't think it really matters here unless you're trying to hold the dresser upside down by the legs. Here, it's not providing structural/load-bearing support to the legs; it's just about keeping the legs attached. Much like Dominos might not add any notable strength or stability when joining two pieces, but they're absolutely amazing for alignment purposes. Rock walls matter a lot more because those bolts are load-bearing. They're around a 90° angle to the ground, so you have to account for shearing force on the bolt itself and (if it's not a perfect 90°) also horizontal tear-out force, which is where you're entirely right about where they should be placed. In fact, I'd argue that in this case, where the most normal force being asserted is a downward one from gravity, the position of the tips he used is actually more correct, as they will dig into the wood further as additional weight is added inside the dresser. Your suggestion would have the tips grab more as the legs are tightened, but that's not really important... maximum tension won't always be correct if you need to accommodate for a floor that isn't perfectly level (aka most of them, heh).
You’re both right, I’ve just only used them the other way which makes more sense in my brain.
I was thinking the same thing also when it slid across the floor instead of lifted there's less of a chance being ripped off the bottom. I'm sure that was probably covered in the long explanation of why it doesn't matter though 😂
This is what dads do. This is how dads show their love. Dads are awesome.
Handmade furniture from Dad is AMAZING.. Id keep everything. So cool man... I know she is so proud of you..
What a great dad.
Thanks bezos! I love watching every single one of your videos. They’re so genuine and every piece you make are really made with all the love you have
_"They're _*_exactly_*_ what i've wanted!"_ ... So you did listen. Good job. Greatest gift ever made! 🏆
Thanks Bezos! Beautiful beautiful furniture! Your daughter is so fortunate to have such a thoughtful and loving daddy.
Super cool, lucky girl, loving Dad. Outstanding!!!
I watched to the end, but there's no way I'm going to thank that man.
Your daughter is a lucky gal! I love your humility, but your craftsmanship is impressive. Way to go Dad!
Honesty deserves a 👍
What a great Dad for a great Daughter.
I’m blown away! So sweet that you love your daughter so much! My dad wanted sons. I’m retired and dads passed on. Learning to love myself unconditionally! Lol Be made Blissful Everyone! Thanks Bezos!
To have a child that appreciates your work is wonderful! That chest is gorgeous!
You did a fantastic job and the smile on her face says it all. Bravo
You are very talented, your daughter will treasure such beautiful pieces from her dad.
Awesome work, but the best part of this video is the Father/Daughter bond !
Great job, man! I’m sure the appreciation from your daughter made everything 1000x better and worth it all! 👌🏻
Her reaction was one that all fathers hope to achieve. Great work
The doors you thought were flawed and too small are the best part of a really simple project that adds to the decor of your daughter's room .Put plywood on the back and bottom and it's a shelf. Put the same resin in the grooves. It'll also be the only project you made for her that she'll be able to take to any dorm she might move in😊
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ she is so lucky!!!
Beautiful I loved her reaction to everything , good dad😊
I loved her reaction, priceless !
I enjoyed watching this video, it's nice to make things that people truly appreciate. Your daughter will think of you every time she looks at that dresser.
Clever dad . Lovely girl xx
Thanks Bezos! New to woodworking and also the cnc world. Love the innovations the cnc brings and definitely excited to do some custom work just as awesome as yours.
Those are so beautiful. What a gift.
Thanks Bezos! Very nice project! I like how you added the resin!
Absolutely gorgeous! I don't usually love the light wood colours but these look so amazing!
What a beautiful dresser! Your daughter will love the memories and sentimental heartstrings of this unique treasure lovingly handmade by her daddy. ❤️
I LOVE the pop of color!! Your such a good dad. She will keep everything you make and pass them down forever ❤
her reaction is everything
What a dad… Chloe, you lucky girl. Amazing workmanship!
Thanks, Bezos.
Amazing craftsmanship!! I love Chloé's reaction! She is very lucky to have a talented dad that obviously loves her. Love your genuine reactions Chloé!
Thanks bezos! I buy pretty much everything from Amazon. It’s so simple and they have everything I can ever think of or the products to make them.
I absolutely love those shelves. I want some all over my house. The gold underneath show off the beautiful colors of the wood. Perfection! One lucky girl.
Awesome video!! Loved your daughter's reaction!
Great video. Love watching creators. Thanks for making
Thanks Bezos! The inlay is the cool thing for me. I always thought it was some super labor intensive process of cutting and shaping those intricate pieces. Didn't realize you just slop on colored epoxy, and plane off the excess. Easy-peezy!
Thanks, Bezos! I love your work. I've been watching you for some time now, and it's been great. It's great watching you build things for your family. Now you said it's meant to be part of the set.. although I've seen every build for your daughter. If you can, would you do a short walk through of that bedroom set? Show / highlight all the pieces as a set. Thank you for be an awesome woodworker and father!
This is gorgeous stuff! You are lots of fun to watch and your taste and vision are exquisite. For the beautiful shelf brackets I will say, “Thanks, Bezos!”🌸
Her reaction: priceless!!!
Awesome build, Jonny!
Soooo Beautiful! Great job on the dresser, your daughter truly appreciates both.
The design and the color accents really made the cabinet pop! Thanks, Bezos!
THANKS BEZOS.
HER ROOM LOOKS GREAT NOW!!! I REALLY LIKE THE BED!!!
Awww so sweet
Thanks Bezos! I loved both the live edge shelves and the curvy bureau with those great doors!
oh my *** love a dollar for everyone who couldn't find the appropriate word
Wow! It’s my first time visiting this channel and I’m instantly addicted to it!
Hahaha loved all of this video! Thanks for being real.
"Thanks Bazoes"
Beautiful dresser. I have one with the drawers painted mint and it gives a nice touch.
"Imperial System is the best system for measurement"
10 minutes later nothing fits :)

Thanks Bezos!! Its an awesome feeling seeing our kids smile. Great build brother!!
Thanks bezos! Awesome surprises for your daughter. And an awesome design! Items she will have for life!
Thanks Bezos! Another great video! Loved those live-edge shelves!❤
Wow, Super Job guys!
Love ALL of your hard work!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌹🌿
Thanks Bezos! Absolutely stunning shelves, and the dresser is awesome too! I always loved it when my dad built something for me, or fixed something I broke. Keep up the good work, Dad! You have a very happy daughter.
Thanks, Bezos! I love seeing the builds you do for your family. Like, they know what you can do, but you always blow them away each and every time. I adore that. I think there's a saying (probably from the Bible) that "a prophet has no honor in his home city" or something like that. Meaning that the people who know you the best also know your flaws the best. And the way you bring such joy and excitement to the ones who love you the most is an incredible attestation not just to your skills (both in the shop and out of it), but also to your dedication towards improving your craft with each piece.
Good job! My brother made spiral staircases. They did not laminate pieces of wood, he kerfed it. He filled the spaces with wood glue and clamped it to a jig. Let it cured it for a week and he had a spiral band or an arch for the bottom step, which would be the equivalent to your dresser top.
The joys of making a daughter happy! 👍🏽😀
You are a GREAT dad!
I too am a woodworker and I also have made, among other things, a dresser for my daughter, who is now 20 years old! Great work Dad!
Thanks, Bezos. What a fun build. Thanks for sharing Chloe's reaction; it's such pure joy!
Her reaction is priceless ! (...and Thanx Bezos !)
The reveal, best part. Thank you.
Amazing work, Jonny! Really, REALLY well done! 😃
Both look fantastic!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, Bezos! I’m glad this video dropped into my feed. I’ve never seen your work before, but I’m subscribing for more! Beautiful work on these, and beautiful, lucky daughter!
Love Black Walnut. The look the smell. The Cocoa Fudge. Lol. Great build.
Amazing. I always like that you include mistakes. No one is perfect. I prefer that to videos where everything is perfect. It eases the stress and disappointment of making my own mistakes.
Thanks Bezos.I love your enthusiasm for woodworking and your love for your daughter.I suffer from depression, am also a woodworker and you give me inspiration to keep going..Projects turned out great. Thank you.
Wow! 🤩 TOTALLY AWSOME! You bet I watched to the end! THIS. 🤣
Great job❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Bezos. That was strange. Love the painted interior highlights! Nice job!
THANKS BEZOS! There is nothing better then making your kids happy. Awesome builds Johnny
Thanks Bezos!
I love this! Altho i genuinely always like the stuff you design & make so this was no surprise that i loved this too!
Thanks Bezos
Love both of these projects. You are amazing!
Damn Jonny’s not just a doctor, lawyer, teacher, but also a woodworker. Who knew.
HEY! I LOVE Yukon! My friends are there, my church is there and I spend most of my time there! 🥺 It's a great town!😓 Thanks, Bezos!
Exactly half circled parts usually don't really bond to the other parts optically. They always look as if they were somehow detached. Because you squeezed the top a little and got to a slightly oblong shape, the optical transition from top to body looks more refined.
Thanks bezos
That was a interesting build. You have the coolest tools.
Thanks Bezos.
Nice work mate! Love the brass strips!
Thanks, Bezos!
Chloe's reaction was perfect. I would have loved to have you as a dad. What a loved daughter she is.
Also, thank you for your honest and funny approach to all of this. You show us that you don't have to be perfect, and it's ok.
Thanks Besos!!!
Beautiful build!!!
Thanks bezo! Such a beautiful bedroom set
Thanks Bezos, everything looked great. Well done and I love the approach of showing how imperfect the craft of building can be.
Thanks Bezos, the dresser turned out beautiful looks amazing , and love the look of the shelves think they would have been cool as floating shelves but know the slabs are kinda thin to do that also
Thanks bezos! Im just a fan of watching you work and make stuff even with mistakes
Awesome build. That was precious moment 👏👏
I came to this channel after watching the Blacktail stair build. I am an immediate fan, if for no other reason than Jonny's shirt that says, "World's Shittiest Woodworker". That got a chuckle. So congrats on one more subscriber.
Amazing!!
Her reaction......priceless. Love it.
thanks bezos. both projects look great! amazing work on a deadline even with mistakes.
THANKS BEZOS!
B-e-a-utiful 👍 as always, you make fun and interesting videos, not only your builds, but also your personality. Not to mention the reaction at the end. Pure Gold 👍
Totally read that in Jim Carey’s voice 😂
@@jasmeralia exactly 😂
Thanx Beezos. I enjoyed the build
