I lived here for a while, maybe 500m from there, still in the place. Although it looks extremely bad, the violence is very rare and mild (unless you are actively trying to film the guys selling drugs) and worst thing that can happen is that you get robbed and I’d say it’s still not as bad as the rest of the city. This is because the gangs control the area and have eyes posted up EVERYWHERE. In the beginning of me living there I got stopped by a member because I had a big camera and was walking around at night like nothing happened, and once I told them what I was doing I never had any problems ever. The drugs gangs don’t want ANY violence because that would be extremely bad for business, and violence towards tourist would only incite more police presence and crackdowns. It’s a surreal place and very disheartening because some people just became near primal again due to their mental problems mixed with drug addictions, but this isn’t a problem you can stop easily, there’s an estimate of 7000 to 10000 drug addicts in Cracolandia.

If you’re going there, go into the hoods properly. Get a couple of hidden cameras for destinations that are super dangerous and then just move through it calmly and quietly and you’ll be fine. This was a walk around the problem areas not in them. Love your work Spanian.
Hi Spanian, I am from Canada...love your videos. If you ever have a chance to come to Vancouver and do a piece on our infamous open air drug den called East Hastings that would be amazing....Might have to walk around in a hidden camera as the locals do not like being filmed.
That’s what this video reminded me of- the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. I work in that area, and it’s gotten so much worse over the years, there’s so much suffering. And yes, filming there is considered highly disrespectful, but unfortunately, people do it for views.

You were in some serious danger out there.
I am Brazil (FROM BRAZIL!) i CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT NOW YOU EARN MY RESPECT, THAT IS THE PLACE THAT NO BRAZILIAN WOULD GO EVEN IF YOU GET PAY TO GO, I would go there with at least gun and security! God bless Spanian, Great work /!
@dm-uc5vk geez your stubborn, the general definition of a hood is a run down, poor and neglected suburb full of crime which is what Airds/Claymore are. They used to be so much worse as well in the 90s/00s, now most of it is abandoned and full of junkies
Ahh no, the world's just turned to sht. It's horrible here in Australia financial wise. This is 1 tiny part of Brazil. Id still probably rather live there and I've never been there. Australia has been sold out and it's not Australia anymore. You're probably a foreigner that came here too. The multiculturalism has ruined it. Now fk off
There's plenty to complain about in Australia. What about how nsw health has them syringes box vending machines outside of their community health centres where any junkie can show up to get their injection equipment to litter the entire neighbourhoods that gets washed down the drains and ends up on the beaches for someone to tread on without footwear. What about all the meth druggies who turn an average suburb into a shithole with high crime rates and thefts like you wouldn't believe so that you end up paying more with your insurance. Then what do you do? Become an alcoholic to deal with the madness?
Do you think everywhere in Brazil look like this? You realize that this guy makes videos showing these type of places because this is what you people want to see, right? And this is how he makes money. Brazil is a country, not the videos you see on youtube.
Thats real shit, the people ive met who went to Brazil said you dont even leave the hotel after dark. Nevermind go wandering with a camera into the worst area.
Welcome To São Paulo, Spanian. Just to clear out a couple of things, "Cracolândia" is the denomination for the gathering of homeless drug addicts, which first start in the 90's, exactly in that region you filmed and, then, got moved to other parts of the city, because the government tried to isolate them from this central area. So, long story short, there are more concentrations like that, not only in São Paulo, but in other medium/large cities and, as crazy as it may sound, this is not even close to be the most dangerous drug-related place in Brazil.
@@gongagong I'd say some of the most dangerous grug-related places in Brasil isn't available to the general public to access. It will be places inside the favelas, like favela da Rocinha, cidade de deus and etc which are primarily run by the Commando Vermelho, not even the Brasil special forces BOPE can reach certain points of the favelas. Most of the wealth generated in the favela is from drug-trafficking.

Hopefully, we're from Algeria (North Africa), so brown skinned and similar hair and faces like an average mixed Brazilian. I said that because, we're tourists but not looking so much as tourists. In Brazil, people used to talk to us naturally in Portuguese as if we're also Brazilian. And it's probably what it saved us. I grew up in a french hood, but I swear I was impressed, stressed and under tension during this walk.
The historic center of São Paulo is a mess, so many drug addicts and petty thieves

Given his past criminal record I’m not 100% sure if Spanish will be allowed into Canada
That’s what this video reminded me of- the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. I work in that area, and it’s gotten so much worse over the years, there’s so much suffering. And yes, filming there is considered highly disrespectful, but unfortunately, people do it for views.

My first reaction was: That's a fine neighbourhood, and I don't know what they're making it look like it's bad, and I think that you can get a grasp of why now. But I got admit, you've got some balls, mate. I wouldn't go walking around that area with a camera on my hand not even if was being paid a lot. The chance of being killed for it, is way too much. Especially speaking in English while filming. For them, you're rich, no matter your background. You have new clothes, was able to pay for a plane ticket and speaks in a language from rich countries. You were in some serious danger out there.

Welcome To São Paulo, Spanian. Just to clear out a couple of things, "Cracolândia" is the denomination for the gathering of homeless drug addicts, which first start in the 90's, exactly in that region you filmed and, then, got moved to other parts of the city, because the government tried to isolate them from this central area. So, long story short, there are more concentrations like that, not only in São Paulo, but in other medium/large cities and, as crazy as it may sound, this is not even close to be the most dangerous drug-related place in Brazil.
What is the most dangerous drug-related place in Brazil?
@@gongagong I'd say Rios
@@gongagong I'd say some of the most dangerous grug-related places in Brasil isn't available to the general public to access. It will be places inside the favelas, like favela da Rocinha, cidade de deus and etc which are primarily run by the Commando Vermelho, not even the Brasil special forces BOPE can reach certain points of the favelas.
