      I agree it's a great idea for a new series! It doesn't fit my demographic personally, but I enjoy following along regardless, and this car is perfect for a young adult to get on the cheap, and learn & fix it up little by little, and make it quite nice as a first vehicle. I've always thought the 300 was a pretty cool car even before the Charger & Challenger came along, especially w/ Hemi!

    I picked up a 300C that was also overheated at 135k miles for $800. Pulled the motor and it had both number 4& 7 dropped seats. Replaced both heads with rebuilt from a heads place in Texas for under $500. Sleeved 2 cylinders & bored everything out 40mm over. New quality pistons & rings. Then I bought a rebuild kit for less then $450 containing new water & oil pumps. New lifters & all new bearings. I'm retired so time is a hobby; replaced the exhaust system with Flowmasters and now it's a nice caged animal that wants to just go.........It has a clean interior and only a few minor bumps. With machine shop I have approx $3k out of pocket. Turned down $8k....this one's mine. Really like your earilier series, I'm 70 and learned a lot! Looking for another cheap buy to fix & flip.

    You don't need a scanner to check codes on MOPARs with a digital odometer. Flip the key from the ACC position to the ON position in rapid succession 3 times, on the third time leave the key in the ON position, your codes will pop up right on the dash for you.

    I purchased a 2006 300 2 years ago from the Son of the original owner, it was garage kept and still is its entire life, it had 35,000 miles on it then and 41,000 now, The body is almost flawless, Threw a set of tires and a new battery at it had the cooling system flushed just because of the age and the A/C had a bad O ring in one hose end and now runs perfectly. No, it is not the Hemi and thankfully it has the 3.5L V6 instead of the POS 2.4 L V6. Paid 1500.00 for it, the best deal of my life. PS the color is silver same as mine.

    Not sure if it applies to the 300C, but most of the dodges I've worked on had a "free" OBD2 reader. Engine off. On/Off/On/Off/On. On meaning the click right before start (Not to be confused with accessory). If it has a digital odometer, you'll see the codes e.g. P0400, and eventually if will flash line or done (Can't remember). Learned that from my buddy's dad back in the 80's. I think then, it used blink codes for the SES light, but my memory isn't good enough to be sure.
    I don't think this is a good idea, but I'll throw it out there, depending on the oil pan clearance, you could pull the pan, pull off the connecting rod, and push the piston out the top. Of course you might need to rent a ridge reamer. And probably want to run a bottle brush hone to clean it up. But I've even put new bearings in (Rolled them in) leaving the engine in the car. Not easy to do, but if you gotta do it in the driveway or something, it works.

Being the stupid teenager I was, I drove the absolute hell out of it and blew the lifters and soon after the transmission and rear diff. My dad and I replaced all 3 without a lift. Engine took a couple months (school and work also) but all in all, it is very possible to restore a hemi or damn near any vehicle without a lift and other things. Maybe more difficult but not impossible.

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quick check on your sunroof, at the front edge on the left and right sides are small holes in the drain tray. These holes go to hoses that run down the a-pillar and down to the ground. They are drain tubes. Sometimes these tubes get plugged up and it can't drain and this allows water to leak into the vehicle when it rains. My first test is usually to open the sunroof and use compressed air to blow out the drain tubes. Then i'll pour a little water in the drain tray and see if they are draining properly. This might save you the trouble of sealing your sunroof shut. 👍

    I love my 300 cars, I got 4 of em, one 2002 300M Speical, 2 300c's one being a heritage edition, and a SRT8. My first 300C I got, the srt started my love for these cars, I had no idea what these 5.7 cars were worth so I just decided to go big. Later I picked up a normal 5.7 300 I got for $800 non running that needed a new timing chain, decided to do a 6.1 Hemi cam swap, mds delete, cai, res delete and put a Diablo tune on and it ran 13.9 @ 104 mph in the 1/4, talk about a revival! Recently that car got a bit of an engine over haul so I got the heritage to keep as a stock daily. One thing I wanted to mention, in around 2008-2009 the 300 got a little of an update more notably in the interior with a different nav radio, rear heated seats, and different trim, with exterior changes being a different trunk with a 3rd brake light and taillights to match the different shape of the trunk. Also around that time they put the usual Hemi front end on some high optioned v6 touring cars. So its something to keep in mind. Lots of people like to debadge these cars so correctly identifying a Hemi vs v6 car with the side trim and trunk bade removed with a Hemi front end can be annoying. Ive seen way to many posers out for sale. Can't wait to see this build, you earned my subscription!!!
