    For the insect box you could use them to sell your dubias, so once you have your insects you don’t need to buy deli cups but recycle and reuse the box

    I stayed until the end of course. I have my colony in a secluded area in a critter keeper. And I use three plastic bottle lids: one for the water crystals, one for dry food, and one for wet food. I just want to make sure I can avoid mold and fungi since they will be the main predator for my roaches. They seem to be doing quite well. I just have to get around to separating them. Great video!

    Love the tips!! Watched your vid all the way through! Just started a dubia colony recently to feed my bearded dragon. Always trying to find ways to save money.... because that was the whole point of starting a dubia colony in the first place. As far as those plastic tubs, I agree I save as much plastic tubs and containers myself and try to reuse them in anyway I can before trying to throw it away... we really need to significantly reduce plastic use if not do away with it completely but anyways... you could use them as egg trays to put in an incubator if you ever decide to breed any of your reptiles. I use many of my plastic containers for some type of storage or end up converting them into a food/water dish or sometimes hides... i like hanging them in arboreal terrariums like for chameleons and that's where i'll drop the feeder insects for them to eat out of lol! Anyways awesome vid!! Keep it up!!

    • @NORTHERNEXOTICS

      I do breed a few reptiles however with these tubs the venterlation in the side really hinders the hummidity needed for incubation. Thanks for the comment and watching until the end

    As someone who's bred ivory head roaches for several years as composters I had no idea there was an expensive way lol. I've never spent one penny. I compost all my food scraps and garden/yard waste in the roach bins. So much better at composting than worms it isn't even funny. Not to mention they will eat anything where you have to be more selective with worms. They are also more resilient and faster breeders than worms
    Now, with that said the species of roach I am breeding requires slightly less heat than Dubias to breed. I don't need any heat in summer and in winter I put the bins in front of the vents in my house. Never had an issue

    I watched this last year when it first came out because I was planning to start breeding dubias if my frogs liked them. Turned out, they didn’t, lol but I still used the information from the video to help me produce heat for my other amphibians I own. Now I have a new use for dubias so I wanted to review what I remember since I actually STILL own the dubias from when I previously bought them(almost all of th are adults now), and I now plan to breed them for my hamster.

      I also found that using kaytee bird extract cockatiel weening food has the right amount of protein and nutrients for them since it’s grain based and I would definitely recommend you trying it out, the actual powder formula also has higher protein if you’re interested in that as well.

    QUESTION: Do I have to separate out my feeding dubias from breeding colony's? Is that a nesscarry step? Or Can i keep all the dubias together? I only have one bearded dragon, she eats smalls for now.

    • @youreinvalid8493
      @youreinvalid8493 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend keeping them together, separating just turns into more effort than it's worth. I just take them out as I need them, but everyone is different so you do whatever works for you, just know that separating them is not a necessary step.

    Google is normally good at finding info, but I cannot get a fix on a source of those small plastic bug containers that you get when you buy live food at a pet shop. Obviously you would need them to ship insects to customers if you were breeding them for sale. Any info appreciated please even if it is just a search name of the container in question. Follow you and really enjoy your informative videos. - well done and thank you for your valuable efforts (thumbs up).

    I have not got yet but may be looking to buy a beaded dragon. I don't want to be spending money over the odds like going to pets at home and spending £2 for a small tub.
    So question is to give to a beaded dragon - 1- how many 2 - how often. so how big a colony do you need to have to not need to buy more
    since you said they only have 9 lots of kids how do you know when a female is no longer producing more kids.

    What I would do if I was allowed to breed them which I will one day is I would have 2 or 3 tubs of em and have a fourth tub with just their food for convenience purposes and have a mini fridge with carrots in it. Use egg cartons that I've got lying around because we have many of those and I'd order them online in bulk for like 200 and then I think that would be the easiest and most convenient and successful setup
