- 11 Investigates continues to dig into complaints about an automatic ticketing system on school buses. Since our initial story aired, showing a man wrongfully cited $300 for not illegally passing a school bus, we’ve been flooded with calls and emails from folks in similar situations who feel the “BusPatrol” system used by Pittsburgh Public is a money grab.

"It's all about safety for the kids." Riddle me this then. When I drive on the highway and come upon a construction site, there are troopers there with flashing lights to warn of the hazard. When I drive through school zones, the officers are hiding half-way down side-streets, or blended in with parked cars on PRIVATE PROPERTY, or hiding behind objects. Then they give chase AFTER the motorist had sped through the school zone. Doesn't sound very proactive to me. Why, one would even say it is all about REVENUE GENERATION. They are essentially using the kid "safety" thing in order to pad their retirement fund. Pathetic.
Exactly!!! Up in New York I've heard the term "money grab" thrown around. Here is another thing that will blow your mind. There is data collected that shows where the "high ticket" areas are, but has there been a public PSA, or road signage added to help warn drivers? Check out WXPI's newest article on this (2 weeks ago). Go to their website or type in WXPI in google, click news tab, and it's the newest one. I believe WXPI said Schools are not releasing information on their revenue shares/monies generated (PA has a Sunshine Law).
Hey Everybody! Check this out! Pennsylvania School Bus Drivers Manual (Pub 117) 2-22 clearly states in Unit C, Page C-10 "You, as a school bus driver, should not be stopping in the middle of an intersection." Why is a uniformed officer/crossing guard stopping the bus in this intersection? Have any surveys been done showing this is a high ticket area, and is this the reason why?
Why was she given 5 points on her license?!? ***I'm not a lawyer*** but if you read Title 75 Sec 3345.1 (e)"Limitations" (4) "A violation under this section shall not:" (ii) "be made part of the operating record of the individual upon whom the penalty is imposed under section 1535 (relating to schedule of convictions and points)". What am I missing here?
They moved it to section (C) Penalty, (4), (ii).
I'm not gone input then bc I'm from Alabama and a school bus driver I pick up in something similar my boss told me long as there a divider the other traffic doesn't have to stop some do some keep going only thing that divides us is the turning lanes

In new york state, everyone must stop even with a median or a divider. So in new york state the drivers on the other side are at fault.
Hey Mr. Cornell, ***not an engineer, just a fan of their work*** next time you are driving check out your traffic light signals. Are they situated on one corner where you have to look through multiple lanes of traffic, or are they displayed high and each lane has a signal light? Your State General Assembly decided to not address the safety issue, and instead just fine and fee its citizens. Maybe your politicians should spend time meeting with their Signals Engineer Corps in their Department of Transportation, than private companies making hand over fist with these bogus citations. Delete Bad Laws, and remove stupid, ignorant, and corrupt polititians!

@@edwardcornell1263 I think the topic is actually privateers with letters of writ shaking down motorists.
@@nickaschenbecker9882 Police still need to sign off on these citation, but in this video the windowshield shows a police officer stopping a bus in an intersection, instead of letting it stop a little further up in the safe location with a dividend highway.
