I think you have the best quality a musician can have : listening. And you know how to nuance. So...thank you for being and doing the best of your heart. From’France 💙
Hello Fabian! The sound you created is great. Could you describe the exact line of equipment along the way. The simplicity you use is absolutely wonderful. Thank you. For me this is almost the final sound.
Hi, thanks so much! Glad you like the video. Yeah absolutely! So the mic is going into a Neumann MT48 audio interface and then recorded onto Reaper DAW, I added a little bit of EQ and Reverb after the recording. Most of the sound though is to do with the setup of the mic position, it took me quite a while to get it in a position where I felt the balance between the guitar and vocals was right, it’s almost like mixing the song before even recording it 😂. I’ll be releasing a behind the scenes video on this recording soon where I go through every little process of how I recorded this, I even talk about the camera and light setup as well.
Inspiring performance, Fabian. Thanks. Is the Neumann TLM 107 now your go to mic for single mic production for voice and guitar (you were using NoHype ribbon mics in the past)? How would you rate these 1 to 3? Unsure which to go for. I play similar music to yourself including some Martin Simpson songs in dropped tunings. Cheers.
Hi, it’s a mic that I’m using a lot at the moment yes. But it depends on what kind of sound I’m after! I’m still using the Ribbon mics a lot just not so much for videos, I find a Large Diaphragm Condenser works well for my live streams, a lot of my TH-cam videos and any time I need a very clean, clear and transparent sound. I use the ribbons when I want more of a coloured, warmer or vintage sound. The TLM 107 is very versatile mic that works with many applications and it’s very quick and easy to setup and just capture something so that’s a big reason why I’m using it a lot for my videos and recordings at the moment. Im not sure I would choose between a LDC and a ribbon though, both are very different, I guess it depends on what kind of sound you’re after but I like having the option of both types of mics. Not sure if that answers your question? 😂 thanks so much for the comment though and glad you liked the video 😊👍
Great mono compatibility! How did you manage that? I could not hear any difference when switching to mono. Pro tip. Look with one eye and use one speaker as well ;-)
@@FabianHollandGuitar nice! I have two 107’s and I still haven’t used wide cardioid or super cardioid patterns yet. Always super interested to learn how people are using them, and what their results are
Hey Jasper! Yeah I did this into an interface and onto a DAW. It’s not hard at all to sync the video and audio. Are you having problems with that? The thing you need to make sure especially dealing with video is that you make sure the sample rate of the audio recording and video recording are the same. Otherwise you might get syncing problems.
@@FabianHollandGuitarThank you so much… is there a way I can send you an email please? I know alot about guitars and playing but almost nothing about recording. It is a rabbit hole. You will be one of the 3 experts I will ask my question to. Regards Jasper.
Not a whole lot, a few small tweaks in the lower and higher mids. I find It’s all a bit of a balancing act when recording 2 sources with one mic. The mic placement took the most amount of time.

Hi, ah thanks so much 🙏 I really appreciate that. Really glad you enjoy the playing 😊 👍
Wonderful performace, great tune and impressive recording- the holy trinity!
Hey Geej, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great job my friend. Really loo forward to the mixing you do afterwards!
Thanks!! Yeah absolutely I’ll prob do another video at some point talking about all the stuff I do in post production 😊👍
Lovely song.
Thanks so much 🙏
Great.
Thanks 🙏
Hello, a question that bothers me, are your speakers on when you record?? Thank you very much, very nice videos
Hi, no they’re not, or if they are on then I have them muted.
Brilliant Fabian
Cheers Scott 👍
Sounds great!
Cheers Hans!! 👍
@@FabianHollandGuitar truth is you are always going to be sounding good regardless of what you record with.
great voice!!!
Thanks 🙏

Good question…

Hi Nick, thanks! 😂 I should record a whole album like this and call it mono.
Room sounds nice. What pattern setting did you use on the mic?
Hi, thanks so much! I used a cardioid pattern 😊👍

One mic. Cool! You recorded this into an Interface? And is it difficult to sync this with this same video?
Hey Jasper! Yeah I did this into an interface and onto a DAW. It’s not hard at all to sync the video and audio.

For example when I’m recording a video I make sure that I’m recording in 48khz because a lot of video records in 48khz

How much eq 'ing did you have to do?

@@FabianHollandGuitar Yeah, for sure. Cutting a notch in the 300 range where my voice and guitar overlap is automatic.
