Great, he's back. I loved the response to 'how old is too old for medical school'! Probably because I'm 31 years old and looking to start next in 2022 pending my GAMSAT results in March.
@@samtheham3187 haha good catch this is why someone should never watch TH-cam before bed XD someday I’m sure! Then we can call this comment a prediction 😜

(if i pass my GASAT during my BSN) I will be 26/27 when I get into Med school, fingers crossed! thank you so much for your videos, really keeps me motivated
Honestly, there's no perfect age to go into medical school but the average starting age for my cohort was 25-27yrs. Best of luck and I'm glad I could help/motivate :).
I’m starting med at Griffith next month, this video got me so hyped! Could you do a video on the process of applying for internships and or how bonded medical places work once you graduate?
Hey that's cool (despite what others think of Canberra :P). I went to Marist but I doubt universities look at this, just your ATAR (if you are leaning towards applying to undergraduate med).Just know that you can succeed at any school and if you don't get into medical school straight out of high school there are also post graduate pathways. I will make a video on this soon :). All the best for your studies
Awesome video! I have been wanting to go into medicine for years, I recently finished grade 12 in QLD. I am heading to university to do Psychology for a year and see if I can then apply for undergrad med using my uni gpa. Hopefully that works out or I will still try get in post grad and since I will be in Rockhampton I believe that is just within the classification of me being able to apply for rural entry which if im not mistaken is slightly easier to get into . The problem with that is i need to stay there for 5 years but after my uni course I would only have 2 years left so I'm not sure exactly what I should do during that time, Do you think it would be worth doing volunteer work for 2 years all round the area and maybe travel over seas to do things? I am willing to move anywhere that accepts me for medicine so I was thinking if I apply for flinders rural entry plus apply for the NT schooling? i'm not sure what its called exactly but maybe that will also boost my chances of getting into medicine. I don't really know what i'm asking lol but I guess to just see what you think?
Hey Levi, sorry for a late reply i took some time away from social media. How are you going with your Psych degree? There are many paths to med school and it seems you’ve done a lot of research already in the requirements for rural applicants. The conditions for these things often change so I wouldn’t want to give advice that is out of date. I remember someone mentioning that rural applicants could afford to have slightly lower grades and GAMSAT but the uni always said that in practice this didn’t actually matter that much because most would have been successful regardless of their rurality. I definitely think getting involved in volunteering and any other life experiences is a great idea whilst doing your undergrad degree. It also helps in a med application portfolio to show that you have been involve with an organisation for an extended period (only necessary for those medical schools that look at a portfolio although it will also help with describing experiences in an interview). I hope this helps and wish you all the best. Keep me updated on your progress. Good luck
@@DylanAppelqvist Hey Dylan, sorry for the late response as well, i ended up getting a late offer to study at another rural university and got a scholarship and i am now studying law (probably not the best degree to get high grades.) i just had a bad year, from injuries causing me to miss most of semester 1 and being sick for most of the past few months, due to this and more i didn't do that great but i have planned things out again and will be switching degree as i now realise law is not for me and i really do want to follow my passion which is actually dentistry now! So I hope going into this new degree next year which is economics i can now put my head down and actually push myself to get where i need to go. Hopefully it all works out, i have a great feeling about it, this year i have had some horrible mental problems and now i'm actually feeling insanely happy for the first time in years. big plans for me!
Hey Dylan love your vids, I’m in year 11 and im worrying if i cant get accepted into a course of medicine right after school. If I do a bachelor of science with the proper prerequisites in the course and do well in the MMI and SJT will i get accepted
There are multiple pathways to medicine even if you don’t get in straight after year 12. I didn’t start medical school until 25 and that was the average age for my cohort. That probably sounds really old but I’ve done a lot of living in the mean time. It’s impossible for me to tell if you will get accepted but keep doing research into the universities you want to apply to and look at their pre-requisites. If you don’t get the ATAR for undergrad med look at your options for post grad entry. I always recommend degrees like nursing, physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and pharmacy because I find these the most relevant to medical school and also you have a job at the end of your 3 years of uni. The job opportunities after finishing an undergraduate degree in science are slim :( (keep in mind i wasn;t that keen to work in a lab. If this is your thing then a degree in science could be for you :).
Be a drug dealer, gets you more money and honey. No need for 4 years of medical school. Start by going to Mexico. Most Latinos do drugs instead of school.
Yay!! You're back!
It’s good to be back 😊. Thanks for the comment

Hey Hadram! Thanks so much and you can totally do it. Plenty of ppl in their 30s starting med 👍
Congratulations what an incredible achievement! And thank you for the q&a 😁
Thank you and it’s my pleasure. Thanks for the great questions 😊
Bit late on the 1000k hey? 😜 Congrats on 1000 + and congrats on entering final year!
OMG that 1000 piece puzzle, my heart!
But never too late I hope :P. Thank you so much :). It's good to be making videos again.

Congratualtions!!!. And absolutely :)
Hi doc
Hello :). Not a doctor just yet. All things going well I will be in less than a year :)
Hey! What was your GAMSAT score? I’m planning to sit the UCAT in the future :)
Mine was a mid 60s score (my first vid goes through all my scores :)). Best of luck in your journey :)
I’m from Canberra too, if you don’t mind, what Highschool did you go to? And do you think that effects your chances in doing medicine?
