I came from overseas and did a Bachelors degree in a different course and migrated here. Seeing the ANU website and all the requirements, I felt lost and confused. Tough question as I sat the GAMSAT multiple times over multiple years but I’d recommend 3-6months of study (2hrs per day). I know this could seem like a lot but I definitely didn’t do this for my first few GAMSAT attempts and my low scores reflected my lack of effort.
What is roughly the difficulty for section 3? I’ve never done chemistry or physics before and I’m worried that I might be disadvantaged because of that. Is section 3 roughly about the basics or are the questions more advanced? Also, I loved the video, thank you for helping us all out ☺️✨
Hey Madison! Thanks for your question. It's difficult to answer because some people who study science subjects at university struggle with section 3 and others that have never studied do quite well. I think for the majority doing some formal study in Chemistry and Physics is helpful for familiarity with terminology, nomenclature and equations but you can still do well without having studied these subjects before at university. As a guide for the difficulty of section 3 I would purchase the ACER practice questions/exam and see how you perform under exam conditions. Hope this helps :)
Hey Khan, for the last 2 months in the lead up to my final GAMSAT, I did approx 3-4 hours of study most weekdays (this was straight after work). My study consisted of practice questions, reviewing my answers and looking up theory (khan academy or similar videos), watching a TED talk for 20 mins, Writing a couple of essays. To stick to this routine I told my best mates that I was studying so they understood, I used the pomodora technique to stay on task and did 25 minutes study followed by 5mins break to do social media/toilet/rest/Instagram. On weekends I would do 3-4 hours of study each day as well and I think this was an adequate amount of time. Obviously there were days when I studied for an hour or missed a saturday but in general I stuck to this routine for 2 months and it paid off. Hope this helps and best of luck in your studies :)
Thanks for your comment. I applied to post graduate medical school (4 years after a bachelors degree) which uses the GAMSAT. There are also undergraduate medical schools which will require UCAT.
Hahahahahaha unfortunately with an online exam noone got to see this panic mode this year but I’m sure some people were still smashing their mouse to get the final questions finished :P.
Hey there, the following is straight from the GEMSAS Website: www.gemsas.edu.au/ Bachelor degrees that were awarded more than 10 years prior to the anticipated commencement date may not be acceptable at the school to which you are applying. Most schools accept postgraduate study within the last 10 years as reason to waive this rule. They will then calculate the GPA on the prior bachelor degree. Some schools do accept Postgraduate study either for calculation of the GPA or to meet their GPA hurdle. To confirm whether your degree will be recognised, check the relevant schools’ entries in the Admissions Guide and their websites and contact the schools if you are still in doubt. The prerequisite subjects required for entry to the University of Melbourne and Macquarie University must be completed within 10 years of commencing the MD -- Hope this helps with your question :)
Yeah, they can definitely help with having a base of content to study, get some essays marked, practice questions and meet people that are also sitting GAMSAT (study group 🙌). Shop around though as prices can vary hugely!!!

Edward Chan prices vary greatly depending on how much tuition you receive/face to face component, etc. Find find full service courses for $1000-$2000 with face to face, online resources and essay marking. I wouldn’t spend anything more than this. Lots of free materials available online too with some google searching if GAMSAT essays, free practice questions,etc.

Why did u sit gamsat not ucat? I’m a post grad but apparently medicine is a undergraduate program so I still have to do ucat.
