  • I'm not a fan of the IS300 cluster. I like the design with its chronograph central pod. But, I hate the mpg gauge that is a total lie when driving. I found this Altezza Modellista cluster for the automatic transmission (rare) for a good deal. Wiring is very simple to make everything read correctly for the USDM market.
    (Note for 2001 IS300 owners only: You must move some pins on the A connector BEFORE you add the SGI-100BT. Illumination - Move A1 to A10 & Tach - Move A11 to A14)

    Nice! Almost plug an play! Toyota had learned a lot since the 80s with every cluster having their own pin out for LHD/RHD and trim level...

    Cool man, I have a Altezza cluster with the tach heading to me now. I bought that Dakota digital converter too. Glad to hear it converts to mph easily. Can't wait to get it! I just need to figure out the pinouts between the 01 and 02 since I have an 01'.

    This is awesome. I'm sourcing a cluster now. How is your speed reading now? And do you know if there are any differences with the manual cluster as far as wiring this up?

    • @84hachi

      Wiring is the same between clusters. Calibrating the speedometer is a breeze with the app that goes with the SGI-100BT.

    Very nice! I just installed the digital altezza version cluster on a Canadian is300 so no need to switch to mph. Only issue I have is the abs light comes on. Any idea how to get that resolved other than removing the bulb? Or will the Dakota box fix that when RPMs are corrected for a inline 6? Did you wire the sender straight from cluster pin 1 to sender? Thank you

    • @84hachi
      @84hachi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You must pull the bulb. Internal circuitry between the two cluster motherboards are different and the JDM cluster doesn't put the abs through the MPX like the usa and Canadian versions. And yes on the sender as my diagram shows.

    Hi man,
    Your info is very informative.
    May I ask to make the speedometer I do need that dakata device for speedometer.
    The speedometer will not work unless I use this calibrator????

    • @84hachi

      It will work but it will read in kph. The DD Box mods the signal so when the needle reads 25 kph, its actually 25 mph.

    Hey bro. Nice video. I have a 01 IS300 and a Altezza RS200 manual cluster that has the digital speedo in the bottom right corner. I have been having a hard time finding a schematic of wiring for both the cluster and my car. I am only interested in the tach being accurate but I want everything else to work. My nav unit and IC7 will give me accurate vitals. Any ideas where I can get both schematics? I assume I will still need the SGI-100BT for the tach? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks man.

      You need to move pin A1 to pin A10 and pin A11 to A14 on the A connector 1st then use the same diagram I wrote.

    Do you know what the one sensor you removed does and also did you re-use the connector from the sensor for the sending unit?

    • @84hachi
      @84hachi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I switched from a oil pressure sensor to an oil pressure sender. The sensor just senses when oil pressure drops below a certain psi and turns a red warning light on the cluster. The connector for the sensor fits the sender.

    Have a question. Can u swap a center JDM speedo into usdm cluster I have an auto 2001. As you know the center gauge pulls out I was thing instead of replacing the entire thing just pull out the center watch looking part and slap in a JDM atezza one. I don’t want to have to reprogram my mileage so was looking for another option

    • @84hachi
      @84hachi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The speedo will read wrong and it cannot be adjusted and the oil pressure won't work. Only time one can swap centers is when you already have a center tach JDM cluster. Then you can swap centers with other center tachs. I tried swapping centers awhile ago and it didn't go very well. Less guess work involved with just swapping clusters.

    • @84hachi

      Just swap the sensor for a sending unit, clip the connector that ran to the sensor to reuse, run a wire from that to connector A pin 1. It's very easy.

      Illumination - Move A1 to A10
      Tach - Move A11 to A14 (Dakota Digital box still need to calibrate)

    • @84hachi

      Just move the pins so they align with the cluster. A1 is the oil pressure and with a 01 that is occupied for illumination , A10 is open, and on a 02-05 the illumination wire is at A10.
