Best coaches around. After practicing a few simple changes in grip and swing path that I learnt from these guys I fixed a 20 year old slice in a matter of months. Now im working on breaking 80 on a regular basis. Im scared of looking at other coaching videos in case I unlearn anything!
This channel is awesome. I just started playing golf two and half months ago, I've played 9 games. Today was number 9 and I broke 100! thanks for the quality videos!
Great video. I watched the video and went to the driving range and use the tips you gave on turning my hips and was crushing the ball with my driver and Threewood and they were going very straight thank you so much
I really enjoy the live lesson videos. I have been utilizing many of the tips you give with success. Can you please do a video on how to decrease the backspin on the driver? I seem to get everything correct and the drives are fairly straight, but still have 4000+ backspin which robs me of distance. Thanks!
Went down to the range to try this drill out and what a difference! I usually fade or slice the ball but was instantly rewarded with this drill - even managed to draw the ball which has always eluded me. Thanks Guys!
I actually tried the bag drill on the 1st hole at my home course (we don't have a range). My first shot I drilled wayyyyyy left (right-handed shot). My second tee shot was an absolute BOMB down the middle of the fairway. Longest drive I've ever hit on that hole. I was a little gobsmacked to be honest but chuckled because I basically had the exact same result as in the video =)
I normally just use my dog, you get the same feeling at impact as a big impact bag, just remember try hit flush on the face like slapping a wall otherwise you'll hurt the dog (my bad Rosie, RIP)
@@meandmygolf. More of just watching you guys play and also seeing your course. I shouldn't have labeled it a playing lesson.Similar to when you played Sawgrass, Torrey or Troon in Scottsdale. I think some of us enjoy that and also learn a lot watching good players play a course.

Great stuff as usual guys. Working with the amateur player on the range is really helpful for the viewers in my opinion. I don't struggle with a slice. But I do have a problem with swinging the body too fast and the arms end up getting left behind which causes the ball to go right. The coach on the range said that 1. At the top of the swing 'feel' like the arms fire first, and 2. rotate those wrists for clubface rotation. Is that good advice?
That's interesting, as for me in all my shots I let my core rotation make the dictation and the arms are more along for the ride. I don't wanna go arms fist, as I'll end up not clearing my hips, not getting in a good impact position and I'll push or slice it.
@@Sparky_007 That's exactly what I was taught initially too. But that's where making a video and getting your swing analyzed by someone else is really helpful. One size definitely does not fit all in this game. Don't know if you've heard of mike bender. He advocates the arms first move too. But again, it depends on your own swing.
@@zh7646 Yup, ok. Whatever works. For me after making adjustments on my takeback (I was too over the top and not on plane, it's because my left arm was going up and separating from the body too much) and making sure I focused on clearing my hips, I've been making some really pure shots on the range. After about 4-5 in a row killer straight shots, I started getting some looks. I'm like. Guys, I suck, I'm not that good haha. But those pure shots were just heaven. Anyways, I think there are some fundamentals we all need to shoot for in order to get more consistent and more pure shots. Good luck on your journey, however you manage to stay on plane! 😃
That's a good improvement. I'm no pro haha. But from what I've seen, he also needs to work on his starting posture with more of a slant to promote hitting up on the ball. Also needs to work on taking the club back in a better position. It could even be more laid off as it is currently. Left arm should be lower on the take back I think. Good luck Michael, you can do it!
Yes there are a few areas that could be better but for us the key is starting with what we believe will have a great impact on ball flight and consistency. One thing at a time.👍🏻
I’ve only started golfing since February and one thing I noticed is club head and wrist angle is so important just like when casting a fishing pole. This guys slice comes from his left hand doesn’t have lag, the club is almost beating his hands. I’m no pro but I love helping and showing people at the range how to fix their wayward swings.
I need to come see you guys, I have a consistent Iron shot with a few fat ones, however my Driver is a different story, slices most times and and other times straight, but only when I concentrate to keep my lead wrift flat on the top of my back swing, tried the Hank drill too but still not working, if you want a challenge please hook me up
This is the biggest sin of recreational golfers IMHO, immobile hips. We try to use our arms and hands to guide the club face into the back of the ball. That is so hard to do. You are much more consistent by leading with the hips, quite hands and knuckles down. But hackers like me forget that. Bravo guys!
@@meandmygolf. don’t threaten me with a good time! You two would have that 300-320 off the box unlocked for me, I have a ton of power waiting to inch out! Love the work fellas! 👊🏼💯
Hi Robert. There needs to be an element of resistance in the trail leg and hip but we want a good rotation of the hips. Somewhere close to 45 depending on the person.
Just because you have a good hip turn does not mean a person wont cut across the ball. Its no wonder most people cant solve their troubles because they are told to make changes that have absolutely no relationship to their problems. This guy is gonna walk off the practice thinking he accomplished something and he’ll go on the course and make a complete mess of things like usual.
In this student's case it was the major cause. In my case it is too. Sure it may not always be the sole problem but I find if my hips don't turn, the ball slices. If they do turn it is a baby fade or even straight. If I also remember to try to hit through towards 1 o'clock position, it may even draw a bit 😀
Works like a charm. Best teachers on TH-cam

Great video as always. Really helpful
Thanks so much Paul!
I have a hard time moving my hips due to back issues. I found taking a slight step back with my back foot in my setup helps my rotation.
Yes this can definitely help Mike. Hope you enjoyed the video
Hey mike, u know what else helps on backswing and more so o no attack. Appropriately opening your feet allows your body rotation. Try it out .
I always swing hit my golf bag for practice. It's fantastic especially before a game.
It's such a powerful thing to create some face awareness at impact Franko. Hope you enjoyed the video
Do you recommend slight flare out of right foot to help promote better hip turn? If so what is an acceptable amount. Is 45 degrees too much.
What can be used if I don't have an impact bag? I always have to remind myself about the hips .. distance killer! Thanks for another great video!
I normally just use my dog, you get the same feeling at impact as a big impact bag, just remember try hit flush on the face like slapping a wall otherwise you'll hurt the dog (my bad Rosie, RIP)
Even a golf bag. You don't even need to hit it hard. Sometimes slower is better to create the right feel Hector.

You can only hold the angle better if the face is strong (not open) Andrew

Is there value to shortening the backswing? Makes my back hurt just watching the club go that far around. 😮
At some point yes Robert. This will certainly provide more consistency.

It saying a great player can’t have a cupped wrist, but it’s not ideal. I had the same and didn’t even know until I saw a video.
I thought hips should resist the torso turn to build torque?
His big problem is flexing elbow in the backswing. So disconnected
