    Thank you for sharing your testimony. I was raised in Amish church similar to yours. I was also baptized into the Amish church at the age of 18.
    Many years later and after becoming a born again Christian God convicted me that my identity is no longer with the Amish church but with Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. So I was baptized again making a public statement that my identity is now with Jesus my Savior! Many blessings to you and your family!

If you get shunned for doing what another Amish group allows and damned to hell. then we are not saved by Jesus grace but by our leaders ideas. I have come to Jesus as my forgiver and best friend in a relationship. It is called amazing grace. thanks

    There's is a flaw in the Amish practice of shunning. By condemning Leonard and Dora Mae to Satan, the Elders broke God's Law. No man can condemn a child of God to the flames of hell, only God himself can do that. Justice and judgement are the Lord's, on Earth and in Heaven.

      The strict Amish communities, which are the majority, are very fearful that if you talk about Jesus and His Word, that you will probably not remain faithful to their way of life, and they are also fearful that others will become persuaded in believing in Jesus as well. Their focus is so external and on outside appearances that they miss the internal or understanding of eternal life. They believe because they are living off the land, dressing modestly, attending services, etc. that they have reached the goal. Those Amish who are not born again, live in fear that you will very likely not make it to Heaven if you leave, and so they distance themselves through shunning those who leave.

    I grew up in one of the largest communities of Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster, Pa, and they have been a big part of my life all my life. I truly love them. There are a lot of beautiful things about the Amish and Mennonite way of life. Being independent and not needing the modern world is a freedom most can't understand. Having large, loving families and tight knit communities that will step in to help one another is a beautiful thing. Knowing how to work, and how to do for yourself is a wonderful thing. Putting those things above God's law and God's salvation is not a beautiful thing. It is a truly ugly thing. It destroys people. It destroys their eternity. There is no reason why people need to be thrown out of the community over stuff like this. I'm praying for a revival among the Amish that would destroy this idolatry without destroying their community and their way of life. Maybe you all will lead your community to Christ.
    FYI, Dora, Elmer's glue can be your friend for making accurate seams, not that you need it now. You can glue those pleats down with Elmer's glue, set it with an iron, sew over it, and wash the glue out. That is how I finally learned to make shirt collars accurately. That poem is Mother Theresa's Do it Anyway.
    I regret so much that I no longer have a driving horse or work horses, and I was never Amish or Mennonite. I wish I had never let them go. There are plenty of "English" farmers out there who farm with horses too.
    Your neighbors are cutting off their noses to spite their faces by not shopping at your store. They will have a long drive to get groceries. That may be the breaking point for some of them. If you keep running that store and don't sell it and leave, more than a few might start speaking up about the sheer lunacy of having to drive miles to buy food.
    I wish I were close enough to be a support and a friend to you through this.

      We must judge sin but we are commanded not to judge others for only Christ knows the heart and is our judge. We must recognize and evil else how are we to avoid it. The Lord used the parable of the mote and beam in our eyes.

    • @thirzapeevey2395
      @thirzapeevey2395 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@anitahill9113 This is a very modern way of looking at things, but not very scriptural. If you look up the word judge in the dictionary, it has a half page of definitions and the Bible uses all of them. We are commanded to judge with righteous judgement (John 7:24). Those words are straight from the mouth of Jesus, and they tell us to be discerning. God is unchanging and unchangeable, therefore scripture cannot be contradictory. If our interpretation makes it contradictory, we have to remember God's nature and go back and try again. Jesus commands us to judge fruit. We aren't to just judge someone as being saved because they say so: Jesus tells us that we know his followers by their fruit. Again, we must be discerning. Just because someone is nice, that doesn't mean they are saved, and judging them so could leave them in a lost state. What is forbidden to us is judging someone's ultimate destination. (Christ can save to the uttermost Heb. 7:25), and to judge ourselves better than others (Phil. 2 3-5). The latter is a sin of pride. If our theology is on straight, we know ourselves to be sinners. We know that salvation isn't open to the righteous. (Luke 5:32) If we have been to the cross and confessed all our sins, we know we aren't better than someone else, and will very likely esteem ourselves, with Paul, as the worst of sinners. Nevertheless, even though I am the worst of sinners, I know that God loves me enough to come and die for me. Its a weird dichotomy that might best be understood the way a parent can see their child's bad behavior and need to discipline them, but can still love them enough to die for them. All that being said, how can we reach others with the Gospel if we don't judge? And if there any greater hatred than not caring if someone is soundly saved?

      yeah and people on here want to fantasize that way if life. the only reason it looks good is because there’s so many rules that people have to be good to get along. having freedom and not control shows who a person truely is inside. in this case people can’t know themselves or each other- it’s more robotic. the main factor of discipline here does shine thru and of course we can all learn from that.
