Yeah, if you are shunned in your Amish church then the other Amish are not allowed to do business with you. Here in Allen County Indiana some Amish that were shunned had good businesses but after the shunning they lost all of their Amish Customers. They had many lean years but the English have built up their customer base. God will bless you if you stay true to him over staying true to the church

During our time there a photographer from the Sedalia Democrat visited the community, including my father’s bulk food store. The photographer took quite a few pictures, including a prized one of my younger sister and I. We were bashful little Amish girls, fascinated by this enormous camera! That photo is the only one we have of our childhood. It’s so precious to us! And we are forever grateful to the Sedalia Democrat Photographer who took those photos that day!
He might become less compliant after 39 years of persecution, a dozen strokes and the resultant abject poverty, while being shunned and ousted by literally everybody. There's a limit to human endurance, someone should help those in a practical way. I cannot help from Africa, Americans nearby should pick up the tab.

I've known Leonard for years, and had many wonderful conversations with him, but I never knew the 'behind-the-scenes' trials he was going through. It all makes sense now that he's opened up about his struggles with the laws of the elders in conflict with the gospel of Christ's grace. God bless him.

I absolutely adore my Michigan Amish communities closest to me I have bought several buildings including my cabin from the Amish community in McBain and I buy a lot of my lumber from another Amish community near me in kaleva / Brethren area.. My big bulk shopping is done at the discount stores I have a family of six and it's the only way I can make the dollars extend.. My next big purchase I've been saving up for is the big water bath canner the rectangular one with a spigot on it I've already got my 30 qt bowls and most of my rada knives..

I was shunned by a Pentecostal Church in Defiance OHio-of course they didn't call it that,but no one was allowed to call me or talk to me. Very wrong and painful,but Jesus accepts me and has blessed me so many times over since then(2005) THis man is so sweet;I love listening to him and appreciate his scripture quoting-hope he knows about being born again;it's not by works that we are saved. That religious spirit is so evil!

Ever since I left Kansas I had been looking for an Amish store and a friend took me to Leonard's. Been going ever since to get bulk food and all my canning supplies
I knew Leonard looked familiar. I was a midwife-in-training with one of the midwives in Windsor and I spent A LOT of time in his store. I haven’t been up there in several months, but I LOVE his store!
It says in scripture that families will be divided because of faith in Christ. I’m very saddened by all the communities RULE following rather than matters of the heart. Seems Christ is moving in Amish communities yet there r sacrifices made to be a followers of Him. Was moved by his story of tears as he realized the impact to come. I pray their business will flourish regardless of mans’ efforts to control others. May His face shine down on those who sing “I have decided to follow Jesus” 🇨🇦 ❤
From a Christian perspective of my own, seems to be shunning is just another name for bullying., as well as power tripping, and threats.I think it’s shameful.
Praise the Lord that the Holy Spirit is in the move EVERYWHERE!! And although we all have different types of ‘shunning’ it happens to all true followers. We just press ahead and pray that others see our bright light and choose to turn towards rather than away from it!

I'm so sorry. On the opposite side of the sceptrum, my youngest daughter is lost and says she's saved bbuut hates me and won't let me see my two grandsons. It's sad. But I know I'll have them after the Rapture in heaven. I had a dream about it. God gave me a dream of promise about my youngest daughter. I feel for you. I know my daughter hates me because of myself being a Christian too and it's sad but we just gotta wait a little longer.
People dont cut off contact with their loved ones for no reason. If you cant keep your religious beliefs to yourself then you dont get the privilege of being in her life.

I have been pleading with Jesus and still am, for testimonies like these to come out so that our nation would see and understand to not fall for the lies of religion, but come to know Jesus as a Savior who delivers us out of the bondage and control of it!

Don't live far from this guy, we do a fair amount of shopping at Amish stores in the area.. never been to the guys store but will definitely be shopping there the next time we go! You gotta respect a man that stands for what HE thinks is right, regardless of the world around him! Anyone can see, that he's a genuinely good guy!

I really appreciated you allowing the time for this shunned Amish man to tell his story. I appreciated the long walk to get his horse because it showed his attachment to the land. Then visiting his store. The heartbreak. The courage. The perseverance. The love and forgiveness.
This man's experience speaks volumes about a supposed biblical Christian community who like many others are not even living the principles Jesus taught. The damage this is creating, spiritually, and financially to this family is pure evil. Shunning is demonic and not what Jesus taught. I hope other communities, Amish or others take this man's experience to heart and see what is really happening. This is a good man. We need to stand up to evil, wherever we see it, especially in our own communities. His community has no idea who they are truly serving....so sad. I live in an area with a lot of Amish, in upstate NY. I love these testimonies of folks coming to know Jesus. I long to see deliverance for the folks around me and hope I get the chance to witness to them.

God felt you were the stray sheep and your shunning has brought you closer to Him. After reading the comments on this video, your words are VERY inspirational to so many.
I also follow a few Mennonite families who attend more modern churches where they openly praise God through music as well as pray as a family & community. Such an inspiration.

This just breaks my heart. I grew up in the Clinton Windsor area. Not Amish but I do shop with them. This man is doing what he believes He would have us behave. God Bless him and his family. In the secular world it’s called coercive control.
It would be fun to visit Leonard and Dora Mae long drive for us though from California. We have never seen Missouri. We have a small trailer we are 70, Christians. I would LOVE to help with farm chores. I now live in Alaska. I'm also shunned since 1985. Most of them will not open their eyes until its too late and thats too bad!!

My father in law 's boys hated to farm with horses and they wanted to use a tractor, so the dad says, well for all that Jesus did for us surely we can farm with horses!! I have learned that they think they can get to heaven by keeping rules and regulations, traditions of men, etc. Why not trust that what Jesus did for us is the way to get to heaven? Wow... I've been a customer of theirs for a few years, and I come all the way from Warsaw specifically to go there, the auction he was talking about, and Kuntry bulk on the other side of town. I saw something about the shunning somewhere on facebook, but I had no idea why or what happened. Though I'll miss some of the local products, (that sorghum was nice) I don't think I could just stop going there. Lol I thought it was hilarious to see those barrels out there in front of the store because we JUST bought three of them the day they showed up, and they seem to go pretty quick! They're PERFECT! I hope this family stays around, and slides into their new life rather easily. They may be shunned by the Amish, but the worldly people don't see them as half bad at all! They really are good people! ❤
As a member of a fellowship mennonite church, i and my boys were continually being examined and watched..its very painful and disturbing to experience. People u thought were ur sisters and bros in Jesus shunning you even if you talked to ministry. Lets get back to sharing the good news! Jesus died and rose again for us. Praise His name.

We were introduced to Lilac Lane when we first moved here to Missouri, and we loved it so much. I make it a point of taking new people down to their store.
This is really interesting as it's different from the other Amish docs I have seen. As a documentary nut I am glad I just happened to stumble upon this! I wish nothing but happiness and peace for these lovely human beings.

I was shunned by a Pentecostal Church in Defiance OHio-of course they didn't call it that,but no one was allowed to call me or talk to me. Very wrong and painful,but Jesus accepts me and has blessed me so many times over since then(2005) THis man is so sweet;I love listening to him and appreciate his scripture quoting-hope he knows about being born again;it's not by works that we are saved. That religious spirit is so evil!

I’ve never heard of Pentecostal churches shunning people, and I grew up Pentecostal. I have wonderful memories growing up in the church.

I knew Leonard looked familiar. I was a midwife-in-training with one of the midwives in Windsor and I spent A LOT of time in his store. I haven’t been up there in several months, but I LOVE his store!
Not only is this shunning affecting him. It is affecting his workers, the suppliers, and the whole community. God Bless him and all.
I love his discussion about questioning why people would want to look at his laundry. The laundry is not there to be viewed but to dry.
It says in scripture that families will be divided because of faith in Christ. I’m very saddened by all the communities RULE following rather than matters of the heart. Seems Christ is moving in Amish communities yet there r sacrifices made to be a followers of Him. Was moved by his story of tears as he realized the impact to come. I pray their business will flourish regardless of mans’ efforts to control others. May His face shine down on those who sing “I have decided to follow Jesus” 🇨🇦 ❤

Praise the Lord that the Holy Spirit is in the move EVERYWHERE!! And although we all have different types of ‘shunning’ it happens to all true followers. We just press ahead and pray that others see our bright light and choose to turn towards rather than away from it!

I'm so sorry. On the opposite side of the sceptrum, my youngest daughter is lost and says she's saved bbuut hates me and won't let me see my two grandsons. It's sad. But I know I'll have them after the Rapture in heaven. I had a dream about it. God gave me a dream of promise about my youngest daughter. I feel for you. I know my daughter hates me because of myself being a Christian too and it's sad but we just gotta wait a little longer.
People dont cut off contact with their loved ones for no reason. If you cant keep your religious beliefs to yourself then you dont get the privilege of being in her life.

I have been pleading with Jesus and still am, for testimonies like these to come out so that our nation would see and understand to not fall for the lies of religion, but come to know Jesus as a Savior who delivers us out of the bondage and control of it!

Don't live far from this guy, we do a fair amount of shopping at Amish stores in the area.. never been to the guys store but will definitely be shopping there the next time we go! You gotta respect a man that stands for what HE thinks is right, regardless of the world around him! Anyone can see, that he's a genuinely good guy!

This man's experience speaks volumes about a supposed biblical Christian community who like many others are not even living the principles Jesus taught. The damage this is creating, spiritually, and financially to this family is pure evil. Shunning is demonic and not what Jesus taught. I hope other communities, Amish or others take this man's experience to heart and see what is really happening. This is a good man. We need to stand up to evil, wherever we see it, especially in our own communities. His community has no idea who they are truly serving....so sad. This just breaks my heart. I grew up in the Clinton Windsor area. Not Amish but I do shop with them. This man is doing what he believes He would have us behave. God Bless him and his family. In the secular world it’s called coercive control.

Leonard said the worst thing that could happen to a business is that outsiders force your employees to quit, that reminded me of Covid, and that evil. It's satanic. So happy that this sweet couple found Freedom in Christ! They learned many good habits in the Amish lifestyle, proves hard work never killed anyone.😊😊 😊😊

They are "works" based and they think they will have a better chance to get to heaven if they wear the right color clothes etc. not have this and not have that,,,,,,. My bible says believe on Jesus and thou shalt be saved, not by man made rules and regulations!! I don't hate my people, they just need to be saved,, like all of us! If you wear the right clothes and the right color and don't have electric and don't drive a car and a hundred other things you have a better chance to get to heaven. My father in law 's boys hated to farm with horses and they wanted to use a tractor, so the dad says, well for all that Jesus did for us surely we can farm with horses!! What on earth does turning dirt over with horse or a tractor have to do with Jesus dying for our sins???? Most of them would believe if you leave the amish you are going to hell!!
I have learned that they think they can get to heaven by keeping rules and regulations, traditions of men, etc. Why not trust that what Jesus did for us is the way to get to heaven? They will use the bible, Mat 18:15-17 to shun a person for a non-bibical issues such as for having air tires on a farm wagon! There are sects that actually hold their rules higher then the bible,, the swartzentrooper amish. They have some VERY evil stuff going on within their groups!! Wow... I've been a customer of theirs for a few years, and I come all the way from Warsaw specifically to go there, the auction he was talking about, and Kuntry bulk on the other side of town. I saw something about the shunning somewhere on facebook, but I had no idea why or what happened.
Though I'll miss some of the local products, (that sorghum was nice) I don't think I could just stop going there. Lol I thought it was hilarious to see those barrels out there in front of the store because we JUST bought three of them the day they showed up, and they seem to go pretty quick! They're PERFECT!
I hope this family stays around, and slides into their new life rather easily. They may be shunned by the Amish, but the worldly people don't see them as half bad at all! They really are good people! ❤
As a member of a fellowship mennonite church, i and my boys were continually being examined and watched..its very painful and disturbing to experience. People u thought were ur sisters and bros in Jesus shunning you even if you talked to ministry. Lets get back to sharing the good news! Jesus died and rose again for us. Praise His name.

I am amazed at the intelligence and fluid ability to think and reason. All produce and numbers involved in a total store, farm, animals, intellect involved in running everything.
So you think having the disturbing things of modern entertainment from movies to TV to music make you smart or quicker? Or the phone and internet that is proven to make people stupid with short attention span along with proven fact smoking pot makes the person have lower IQ and with men it affects their sperm and their children are show to have lower IQ also.
