One of the most iconic voices in rock.
he wrote this song
Exactly, and I’ve known that voice for some 55 years now without ever seeing his face before!
@@janetownley Me too. I'm watching this because I wanted to see what he looked like.
I saw them live in 1970, and they played a bit over 2 hours and played 7 tunes. Seven. Smiling Phases by itself ran nearly 45 minutes. This was a band whose core was studio jazz musicians, and they were capable of the most amazing improvisations I've ever seen.
Rebel Tuba I wish I would have seen it but I was a little kid.
So jelly
Back when bands had REAL musicians, unlike the dumbdowned fools of today.
@@Johngonefishin HOW TRUE !!
Here I am reading your comment from New York City Thursday March 28th 3:45 in the morning. in the 70s was real music not like today it's crazy
Damn, Blood Sweat & Tears were FONKY!!! Master musicians playing outside the box, David Clayton Thomas' soulful & melodic growling, and those horns that penetrate your soul! I have this on CD, cassette, AND 8-Track! (My dad's) The soundtrack of my youth is unsurpassed by anything since!
#Salute
What no Vinyl! This new vinyl thing just might catch on..
One song that brings back childhood memories
It's so refreshing to see an actual *live* performance from this era. Usually I can only find miming to studio tracks when I look up 60s/early 70s "live" videos (for the most part).
Awesome bass playing.
Missing the amazing double time solo by Lew Solof! I know this was for TV, but that's the best part of the song!
R.I.P. Lew!
I still love it as much as I did in 1969. Blood, Sweat and Tears what a band, still amazing! David Clayon-Thomas what a voice. I am so glad that I can hear it (and see it) at TH-cam om my iMac.
Always loved this tune. Great song!
He was feeling this track!
He was lol!!!!
Epic, great music, fantastic voice, wonderful lyrics. Thanks.
Ahhh the 70's when you could be a "band geek" and still be in a rock band. :)
Great voice, great song
That horn line.... Awesome. One of the many influences that made me want to learn the alto sax. My Mom loved this song. Made me smile watching this. ❤
Damn....they sound freakin great live!!!
BST was an innovator, they influenced Chicago and Steely Dan.
Same time as Chicago, different influences. CTA and Child is Father to the Man came out the same year.
William Flanagan Same producer as well? Guercio?
Mom was influenced as well.
My neighbors favourite song wether he likes it or not
Love it, lmao
I / hear\ that! 😆)LOL
Is your neighbor cranking the volume up? Lol
Haha!
Hey Bro, what dou you mean Your Neighbors?
Saw them live in Memphis and in Knoxville. BS&T were my favorite band of the 60’s!!!!
David Clayton-Thomas. What a great voice!
I wrote songs back in the early seventies for many bands....Mostly because I loved your album...:-). Thank you...:-)
so funny - I've been hearing his voice for decades - but thx to youtube can see him perform. What a talent.
he's still performing! fantastic.
David Clayton-Thomas Had (Has) Some Of The Best Vocals Out there!
Always loved this mystical funk!👍👀
He kinda looks like "this week's bad guy" on a late 70s/early 80s primetime action show.
Detective from rockford and son
@@stu3775 "Rockford And Son"??
Now THAT'S the 70s show they shoulda made! 😂
@@kingcassius2586 Exactly! Usually people think that show actually existed, lol.
Our children were in a play at our high school. His wife was great, he stopped by a couple times during rehearsals. The director, playing the piano for rehearsal jumped right into a BST song when David walked in.
What a great live version.
its hard to believe Laura Nyro, the girlfriend of the Blood Sweat & Tears base player wrote 'When I die' , and 'Eli's Coming', and several more mega-hits of that era.
Love this song
Old but Gold. I search very long but this is awesome.
At the time I started singing the songs like these and many many more,I wish I could have gone to the concert and seen them in person! I would have given my eye-teeth to have seen 'any' of these 'Rock and Roll/Soul/Pop' GIANTS‼️
No matter what I remember this song when I was 7 years old it really matters in my life its a time capsule
In the late 80s my high school sweetheart' father had the same exact haircut, and I am intimidated by it to this day.
My nephew loved this song.😭
I'm digging that leather suit, the sixties was something else. There were some great groups in every genre back then. It was a time of expression and upheaval, and revolution, a terrible and beautiful time all in the same breath.
Saw BS&T last night at the Peabody auditorium in Daytona. 8 pcs., 4 horn plus Bo Bice -- vocals. Bo sounds a lot like David Clayton-Thomas and the band is strong. ALL good players across the board. No slackers. Several very jazzy solos throughout the night. They are VERY worth seeing.
Classic song! Love it!
Still have their album I bought back in the early seventies. Great group I have loved their music since I first heard them many years ago.
184 people did not catch a painted pony
+Saber Wolves They came down, w/o first going up ... .
or are SJW's who thought it was Ray Stevens ( Ahab the Arab, Little Egypt )
They will never know the colors that are real.
300 more didn't too now
Hello handsome...I like the way you look..what a hunk..it's nice to see a good looking man who dresses nice..this man can sing...you realise that when you listen to blood sweat and tears you many genres of music...this band is the best of all time.
I was in elementary school when this was popular. So, there was a big brass bands and songs movement around this time? BS&T, Chicago, Ides of March, Bitch by Rolling Stones, etc. Pretty cool stuff.
OMG! Better than excellent!!
When rock/jazz was great this band were at the fore front, love to hear those sounds todsy, thanks to youtube
Them and the Guess Who. Very relaxing rock and roll. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
OMG this is the first time I have seen Blood Sweat & Tears - I could have sworn the lead singer was black!
no he was made out of leather
Nope, just a Canadian with a lot of soul.
Right? I thought this guy was a brother my WHOLE life.
I just thought D-C had a beard.
Truth!
Jewel of the music, forever!!!!!!!!
super groupe des années 70 !
Didja know when David Clayton-Thomas rode off the note of "real' in this song, he actually split the note in two and was singing two notes at the same time...listen to the studio version and you can tell. Biggest Fan Ever...
Thank you for posting this song. Great band! Glad I got to see true musicians perform.
Steve Katz sang Sometimes in Winter. These are group credits.
They were a great band..!!!
One of the best songs ever
Blood Sweat & Tears,,,GREAT GROUP
Jojje Wadenius spelade med dom några år.
1975 album New City
Totally Live.
Totally Great.
BS&T.
True, real things that happen in these troubled world. When you are up, you have a lot of friends. But when you are down no one knows you. What a nasty attitude of many people, that is why the entire world is collapsing these days.
This tune, along with Circles of your mind, drove me nuts as a kid ! Dammit ! Why couldn't late '60's adults make sense ?
I heard this on Celine Dion’s rehearsal and loved it and wanted to find it!!!
His Swag Though lol...
AJ monteen are they still together?
You said, lol
He sure was; he was getting it in!!! Their musicianship is off the charts!!
This is a mid-70’s video. Good quality for its day. Go ahead and break out your photos from the 70’s or your parents photos. DCT looks great !
Right!
Saw BST almost a year ago... FANTASTIC!😁😎
¡Excelente música y letra...!
Another authentic jazz rock band just like Chicago!!!!
Great voice, great song!
Wow! He got some rhythm !! Loved this song. What a groove!
I thought it was tom Jones too.but these guys had a mega hit,was even in Woodstock 69.
Loved them as a child!
what a great song
David Clayton-Thomas was awesome and Blood, Sweat & Tears best lead singer.
My mom has this album.
I know
Really, that's awesome!
Perfection!
Great band
My favorite song ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Smiles, how are you doing?
Feliz Navidad a todos los amantes de la música 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Pure funk
his voice just got better and better with age
David, forever!
Should be in the Rock and Roll HOF for sure.
What a great bunch of music we had back in the day! Simply MAAAHVELOUS!!!
A great High School band back in the late 1970s could crank out out this song , as well as Chicago's '25 or 6 to 4' and be way COOL, assuming you had a excellent lead vocalist since both song had memorable Horn Segments, drum beats and guitar sections.
live at the Fillmore...damn those horns were loud!!! ;)
very cool!!
I had the 45 when I was 9!
This is for the Dow. It was up 2 days in a row. It must come down
I song on the choir at the holy family primary school in Jamaica.
perfect
Great observation. Lee majors was married to the Beautiful farrah Fawcett at that time.
I've never heard of them till they were mentioned on Sex & the City, Season 2 episode "Ex And The City."
long time ago , but on the spot !!!
I'm in love! Hes hot as heck! Wow! I've always loved this song!
Seen them live in the 1980 at the Colosseum in jhb
RIP Lew Soloff
Haha ... NOIICE !
I got to get the jacket
Sweet!
3rd Bass made a cool song from this classic.
Psychedelic jazz...
Apart from a great lead singer with a tremendous rich timbre to his voice, a big band sound courtesy of those brass musicians, plus a classic, timeless song , there's not much to like about this.
Druzy calls collect the veil is called New Amsterdam
Good Times !!!!!
he had one of the best voices in those 60s. better maybe than even eric burden or the lovin spoonful ib terms of timber. all these little glee and choir boys criticize this guy had a voise an eon beyond all that. a voice with such power and character i dont care what my teacher says she knows really nothing then.
Went to the Dusty Springfield school of dance.
ANY ARMYS HERE
Really dude? Seriously?
Jestem Dżemem here!
Why?
This is why a lot of people dislike ARMYs.
Jestem Dżemem when this was on top of BTS's song lol. But the song is great
