I was able to pick up the Kershaw Iridium from Amazon for $45. I assume it was a pricing error. I knew it was $65 everywhere else, so when I saw it for $45 I picked it up no question asked! I checked on the order only about 10-15 minutes after ordering it and the price had been adjusted to $64.99. I got lucky.
I've got lucky with an amazon pricing error. A few years ago I needed to replace some tools and found the same tool kit that I got when I went into the trades (except it had a metric tape measure) for $90 instead of $390. Not 30 min later it was corrected but I was sent my order. That was a good day.

I seen the error on Amazon and started to order it until I realized it wouldn't be delivered for almost 2 months and I was too impatient to wait that long so I went to GP Knives who had it for $60 bought it and paid for the FedEx 2day shipping which was $11.00 and got in in less than a week. It was worth it to me so I didn't have to wait. Hope you are enjoying your iridium as much as I'm enjoying mine. ✌️
Coming from someone who has a ton of knives, I agree we are in the golden age of knives. Quality control under $40 can be real hit or miss with edge grinds especially and liner lock interface. I also wish companies would spend more time when they loctite the pivot screws. Either none or too much. Pet peeve of mine. The sweet spot for me has been in the $50-$100 range. Found so many great knives here. The civivi baby banter, the real steel gslip, fox baby core, cold steel code 4, spyderco dragonfly and manbug, sog terminus, kizer mini sheepdog, etc. Most of my EDC rotation comes from this price range. Anything above this is just acquiring materials like titanium and cpm steels.
I ordered one of those Ontario Camp plus knives after they were released and I cant beleive how excellent they are for that price. Fit and finish is extremely good and it's tough, light and comes sharp as all. I wish they'd add a brass thumb stud and charge me 5 more bucks though.
There are some good looking knives in that bunch. Lately it has struck me that, in a lot of cases, the more beyond $100 the price tag gets - and especially when you get in the $300, $400 and higher range the more many of those knives start looking like $10 gas station knives with some over-the-top designs, etc.
I like to keep a pocket knife (edc, not a work or outdoor pocket knife) under four ounces. As far as outdoor/camping/hiking fixies w/ sheath (again, not like a brush hacker yard knife) like no more than a 15 oz. My big guys weigh in at 15 and 13 oz w/ sheath, but my Morakniv Kansbol kit is only 9 oz. So, 9-14 oz is the sweet spot for a knife and sheath that can travel but also get some hard work done. That said, I usually prefer a thickish blade, so that adds weight.
I agree DCA, we're in the golden age of affordable, quality knives! I'm old enough (44) to remember the not-so-distant past when many of the features we take for granted today would have costed significantly more. Features such as caged ceramic ball bearings, D2 or any of the CPM steels & even reversible top-up deep carry pocket clips are just a few of what are now essentially considered industry standards. But it wasn't all that long ago when those were generally more reserved for higher end knives costing easily twice as much as what you'll pay today. Are there still some knives that are too much? Absolutely. But there's no doubt, at least in my mind, that in todays buyers market there's just never been a better time to be able to get a quality knife at a very affordable price!

I own two Landers (black and polished with several scales) and like them a lot: for the idea, for the steel, for the dimensions, for the lock, the clip, the scales - EDC perfection for me as an office worker in combination with a Victorinox Compact. 👍
I have a LOT of knives (spyderco, SOG, benchmade, william henry mostly) but the knife I've carried nonstop the last couple of weeks has been the Kizer Begleiter XL. I *really* like the button lock Elementum, but this is better bc of the longer heftier blade. It's slim in the pocket, incredibly fidget-friendly, opens any number of ways, and cost $94. If I had to choose just one folder to carry forever going forward, it's this.
More fixed blade under $100 would be great 😊... I understand you can only do so much what they fixed blade, especially under $100.. Still looking for that perfect fit... Either 14c28n sandvik stainless or elmax.. But elmax pricey... The color Grenn (I'm old school army guy 😂).. And I like the QSP canary blade shape (my current edc).. But want in a 3.75 to 4 in blade... primary task would be... Camp kinfe, hiking kinfe, and light Duty wood processing ( things under 3in thick..... Know of any good knives😋
While these knives are not anything I'm actually interested in I always enjoy watching DCA's videos. If it's not TRM, Shirogorov, Tactile, Giant Mouse, CRK, and the occasional Spyderco I'm not interested personally. That's not to take a shot at any of these knives, I've just found what I like and I'm sticking to them, and the only knives I've ever had serious regret buying is the cheap stuff. You can't flip and trade them like the higher end or mid stuff
Have carried a Gerber Fast Draw (F.A.S.T. Draw, if you're being pedantic) for several years now and love it, but wondering what else is out there in a higher-end blade steel but with a similar action. Would love to hear some suggestions. Specifically: (1) I love that I can hit the unlock switch and the thumb stud to open it in a single simple thumb motion directly from the natural hand position as I draw it from my pocket, the switch locks automatically, and then just close my hand to have it in a secure, natural grip, no repositioning or grip adjustment needed (it really is rightly named) (2) I love the one-handed finger-safe closing, again nearly from natural grip position*, without the gymnastics required to actuate most spine-located locks e.g. a compression lock (3) Strong preference (but not a requirement) for assisted opening (4) Weak preferences for closed-position lock, deep-carry pocket clip, and partial-serration blade option (5) Weak preferences against tanto blade shapes and aggressively "tactical" grip appearance (6) Specifically *not* a flipper. (You basically can't beat the Leek for assisted-opening flippers anyway imo; despite not quite matching my specific nitpicky preferences it just looks and feels too good at too high a build quality and too low a price point.) *Nobody I've ever loaned the knife to in years of EDC has seemed comfortable closing it, which is weird because it's fluid and basically effortless for me: open hand slightly, thumb lands on the lock switch, little bit of pressure unlocks it as my index finger snags the thumb stud and closes the knife, thumb closes the lock switch [out of habit, at least, although the switch closes to the locked position automatically from friction as it slides back into my pocket])...I should probably make a video of "how to close the F.A.S.T. Draw" at some point, it sounds complicated and _apparently_ it's unintuitive but it's super fast and fluid in practice.

Everyone says the Lander just requires removing 2 scale screws lol. What about the 2 clip screws and the filler tab screw? U basically take 7 screws out to swap scales. Just something to note. I love mine with 80’s camo carbon scales on it.
I got that Ontario Camp knife recently and was immediately blown away. It's so well made, dam near perfect basically. I may have to buy one of those Chirp knives as well.
KC look at the kiana from florinox (100% made in France) ! It's a modern knife that's cost less than ~20 euros (dont know in $). So good and so cheap i've 3 in my collection.
came here to make this point as well. the lander is the first to release the cad files to my knowledge, but NOT the first to do fast swap scales. TRM did so years before with the original Neutron, and now these fast swap scales are seen in the Neutron 2 and Atom
The SOG tellus FLK having that frame like lock that your hand applies pressure to could also maybe help the lock from slipping and the knife closing when you don’t want it to

My drop point CS Recon 1 in S35VN is one of my favorite folders. Surprisingly light considering the size (just about 5oz) and it locks into my hand so well! Built like a tank yet still slices really well for EDC too 😎
As a Hungarian knife guy, I'm a little bit sad because you didn't mention the Böker plus Poke as an option. It's a banger for the price! Maybe next time... 😊
I have a white Churp, it´s a great knife, my only complain is that the scales turns blue if you use jeans, but nothing that a little water and soap can´t fix.
such a great video! there is so much out there in this price range it is hard to keep up. I would personally put the ferrum forge stinger up there as one of the best under $100 with it's Shiro-like profile and elegance (albeit with g10). personally my favorite knife under $100. but I know being a simple liner lock it's easy to pass over

I now have a Victorinox Rambler mated to an Olight I1r2 as a multitool/people friendly knife but I miss a one hand openable scouter blade. Are there any good lightweight multitools with one hand openable blades? Apart from a blade I need to ta care of my nails (office job) / David
Most button locks... I just don't trust. I have the CJRB Pyrite and it's very easy to accidentally depress the button when using it and risk closing it on your hand. Almost done it a few times...
That's a very nice list, even if I only own one of them. Hard to believe the Sokoke didn't make the list. 14C28 steel, very nice Micarta or G10 handles, and very well made. All for around $60. I find that knife taking EDC time away from my Benchmades and Spydercos. Another very nice knife, but I don't think it's sold on KC, is the Moyarl by Miguron. Again, 14C28, nice G10 handles, and it even comes with a titanium pocket clip. All for about $50.
Most of them can easily be actuated for us lefties. I have an Elementum and have handled a Malibu and don't have any problems using them. They're definitely not intended for left hand use, as the show side will always (almost) conform to right handers, but Protech does have left hand models of their TR-3, and one from Kansept, though that one isn't a button lock, its a frame lock.
The lack of a QSP Penguin on this list is sad. Especially the KC exclusive in S35VN. It’s definitely the best folder on the market for the money, period.
Why, CJRB, would you make a completely black knife, but give it a silver button? (Pyrite sheepsfoot) Does the silver one have a different color button? Nope. I absolutely love the knife, and would buy at least 3 (user, backup user, and keep one mint for the collection), but the silver button drives my OCD absolutely nuts!
Hello, I'm curious, can you give me aan idea of a good middle class EDT folding knife with a flipper opener. I have fairly bad arthritis and have a hard time making a fist. I need a bigger handle with a flipper. I have fixed blade knives that work well. I live in Indiana with very lax knife laws. Only ballistic knives aren't allowed. No limit to size. I would like a good 4 inch blade so 8 can hold it comfortably. Thank you for your advice.
Hey DCA and crew. I am an intermediate collector with +/- 40 pieces in my collection. I have one primary complaint about them all- factory edges are generally dull, toothy, or uneven. I’m not skilled at sharpening and don’t really feel like trying “right out of the box.” I want your opinion on sharpest factory edges. No need to name check those manufacturers who aren’t known for great edges- just would like thoughts on companies or models with worry-free cutting on day one. Thanks and keep up the great content!!
Feel like the Schrade Divergent should be on this list. Really wish Schrade would revisit this model: abandon the useless stylized fuller, upgrade the blade metal(D2), maybe offer aluminum or/and micarta handle, replace the pocket clip with a deep carry model. Upgrades might double the price ($50-65) would still make it an incredible value.
This truly is The Golden Age of Knives. There isn’t a chance in hell ANY of these designs would have been available for less than $100 ten or more years ago!
There's so many good looking knives in the budget world, especially with Civivi and Kizer, but once you get used to higher end knives its just so hard to go back.
For me , kizer have been killing it in the affordability factor , M390 for under 80 pounds , plus the fit and finish on their knives is outstanding for the price point.
@Rakx10 the WorkSharp Precision Adjust sharpens it no problem , I think I paid 50 pound for that last year, just have to take your time on the fine diamond before you switch to the ceramic
I love the CJRB Pyrite. Great knife. Got mine in a Gmascus handles exclusive to White Mountain. And it is an awesome knife. Now I want one in the steel or titanium handles.

agree, my only gripe is the 420 steel is kind of annoying to sharpen bc it’s so soft but for $10 you can’t beat it

I have the 4V Swayback. It really is a fun little knife, and very useful, too. I love the metallic "tink!" it makes when you open or close it.

It’s not new for this year, but I just bought a Kershaw Launch 9 from KnifeCenter for under $100. Not bad for a USA made auto!

I would personally put the ferrum forge stinger up there as one of the best under $100 with it's Shiro-like profile and elegance (albeit with g10). personally my favorite knife under $100. but I know being a simple liner lock it's easy to pass over

Hello David! Could you recommend a good complimentary blade to my edc fixed blade, a Boker AK1. I now have a Victorinox Rambler mated to an Olight I1r2 as a multitool/people friendly knife but I miss a one hand openable scouter blade. Are there any good lightweight multitools with one hand openable blades? Apart from a blade I need to ta care of my nails (office job) / David

Most button locks... I just don't trust. I have the CJRB Pyrite and it's very easy to accidentally depress the button when using it and risk closing it on your hand. Almost done it a few times...
That's a very nice list, even if I only own one of them. Hard to believe the Sokoke didn't make the list. 14C28 steel, very nice Micarta or G10 handles, and very well made. All for around $60. I find that knife taking EDC time away from my Benchmades and Spydercos. Another very nice knife, but I don't think it's sold on KC, is the Moyarl by Miguron. Again, 14C28, nice G10 handles, and it even comes with a titanium pocket clip. All for about $50.
what are some good button lock knives for left handed users?
Most of them can easily be actuated for us lefties. I have an Elementum and have handled a Malibu and don't have any problems using them. They're definitely not intended for left hand use, as the show side will always (almost) conform to right handers, but Protech does have left hand models of their TR-3, and one from Kansept, though that one isn't a button lock, its a frame lock.
The lack of a QSP Penguin on this list is sad. Especially the KC exclusive in S35VN. It’s definitely the best folder on the market for the money, period.

I absolutely love the knife, and would buy at least 3 (user, backup user, and keep one mint for the collection), but the silver button drives my OCD absolutely nuts!

Hello, I'm curious, can you give me aan idea of a good middle class EDT folding knife with a flipper opener.
I have fairly bad arthritis and have a hard time making a fist.
I need a bigger handle with a flipper.
I have fixed blade knives that work well.
I live in Indiana with very lax knife laws. Only ballistic knives aren't allowed.
No limit to size.
I would like a good 4 inch blade so 8 can hold it comfortably.

Hey DCA and crew. I am an intermediate collector with +/- 40 pieces in my collection. I have one primary complaint about them all- factory edges are generally dull, toothy, or uneven. I’m not skilled at sharpening and don’t really feel like trying “right out of the box.” I want your opinion on sharpest factory edges. No need to name check those manufacturers who aren’t known for great edges- just would like thoughts on companies or models with worry-free cutting on day one. Thanks and keep up the great content!!

Feel like the Schrade Divergent should be on this list. Really wish Schrade would revisit this model: abandon the useless stylized fuller, upgrade the blade metal(D2), maybe offer aluminum or/and micarta handle, replace the pocket clip with a deep carry model. Upgrades might double the price ($50-65) would still make it an incredible value.

There's so many good looking knives in the budget world, especially with Civivi and Kizer, but once you get used to higher end knives its just so hard to go back.
For me , kizer have been killing it in the affordability factor , M390 for under 80 pounds , plus the fit and finish on their knives is outstanding for the price point.
You had twice the price of the knife to get something able to sharpen it. Awesome.
@Rakx10 the WorkSharp Precision Adjust sharpens it no problem , I think I paid 50 pound for that last year, just have to take your time on the fine diamond before you switch to the ceramic
