Simple "Minimal" Oil Curry Lentils | Jamaican style

  • Ingredients:
    16 oz dried green lentils
    3 tsp Betapac curry powder( use curry of choice)
    2 cups coconut milk/ cream
    Minimum of 2 cups water( use more if needed)
    1/2 bell peppers( red and green)
    1 whole scotch bonnet pepper
    4 garlic cloves
    1/2 onion
    1 tsp grated ginger
    1/2 medium carrot
    Few sprigs thyme
    3 stalks scallion
    Few pimento berries
    2 vegetable bouillon cube (Use all purpose seasoning of choice)
    1/4 tsp onion powder
    Dash celery salt
    1/2 tsp poultry seasoning( optional )
    Pinch of salt
    *** Season to your liking)

      @@rhondajoseph7471 you can use it as a meat alternative for lasagne and sheperds pie, a filling for patties, fritters, you can also combine lentils with flour& water to make a meat consistency. Lentils are very versatile 😍

    This looks amazing,just a small tip. Did you know if you blend the premto seeds in a blender really fine to a powder consency you get more flavor out of it.

    The hours u spend for it to soak u could of burse the lentil so that is making it longer

    I have maybe a silly question. I can't get scotch bonnet peppers where I live in Canada, what can I use instead? It looks delicious, and I love lentils.

      Although the scotch bonnet gives a distinct flavor, you can use whole cayenne or habanero. If not available just omit it, the other seasonings will make up.

    I tried it and it was good. I may have cooked my lentils too soft though. The coconut made it awesome.

      You can use allspice( the grounded version) or omit it all together.
