The cam belt runs on three pulleys cam, auxiliary shaft and crankshaft all use the same seal. between the block and the auxiliary shaft oil seal housing is a o ring you can also check
Hi PJ. Some nice tips there, thanks. I've just today replaced my cam shaft oil seal. I've got a 1990 Mk2 1.6 petrol automatic with a very similar engine to yours. I followed the procedure you've spelt out in other videos to set up the timing. Except that I set the timing mark at zero on the automatic type flywheel. I turned the engine over by hand 3 or 4 times, no fouling anywhere in the engine. I then turned the engine on the starter with the coil disconnected, everything seemed fine. Then when I started it, it jumped directly into life without having to give any gas. The problem is that there is now a pronounced rythmic tick that wasn't there before. I've not tried to give a bit of gas to see if the noise goes away for fear of trashing something. Any ideas?
Hey if I do have a splash guard but still exsersive oil what does this mean ? Your videos helps so much now that I got my first car and do not know much you deserved the follow ❤️
Then it could be your valve stem seals in your cylinder head that needs replacement.By reconditioning the whole head will improve performance...but on the other hand if it's your rings,you will have to do and engine overhaul. Thanks for subscribing😊

Hi PJ watching from Namibia I have a mk 1 with oil light flashing on off and temperature light also but car don't heat neither does it uses oil and it's making a buzzing sound????
Sounds like it could be an electrical issue in the cluster But do also check on your oil sensor on the oil filter and also the connection to the temp sensor
Hi PJ can u do a video on noisey tension pulleys I replaced it but it's still noisey if i loosen it the belt gets a lot of slack on it I did take out the fan belt to see if it's not the alternator bearing
Just the actual cam shaft pulley /sprocket .., just jam the pulley with a piece of wood when loosening the bolt,and then u will have access to the seal..
hi pj I noticed a leak on one of my intake maifold bolts doesn't look like its coming from the tappet cover .. looks lile a leak between manifold an exhaust on the left side where that difficult bolt is situated
Good evening I did a complete engine overhaul and now my oil cap leaks a little bit of oil I replaced it. I bought a oil cap at goldwagen.... Isn't there anything I can try or where can I get a genuine one... Thanks in advance
@@rashaadfredericks3974 OK, why are u having so much pressure at the oil cap if u recently did engine over...? . How is your breather hole in the tappet cover? ,... Is it not blocked perhaps.? .. Just check by holding your hand over it while engine idles... You should feel a rush of hot air Coming out.. The breather hole can become clogged up due to hardened sludge in the sieve situated in the tappet cover.. If it is clogged clean it, or get another tappet cover.

To do the cam shaft seal do you need to remove the entire cam shaft

Are u sure?...it could be coming from your airbox too.. oil gets into there from breather pipe..., assuming you have a carb model
