Hi. Disconnect the linkages from the selector and try to select the gears manually on the box as shown in the video. If it doesn't go in smoothly, you have a fault on the box. Secondly check all the bushes and rubbers. Worn rubbers and bushes will cause selection problems as well.
If your car is able to take gears whist idling it means that there is no issue with your cable. The only other issue which is actually a work around is to make the cable shorter by screwing in the plastic that sits on the cable at the gearbox. This will make your clutch lower but might alow you to drive the car a little longer
Thanks so much for the video man. Big Love.
damn , and i was raging today why I couldn't get the gears after putting new bushings , thanks man ,at least now I know what to do

This really helped..much credit for this content Bru
It's great to know that this video has helped.
Great video thanks. One question, which way do the clear bushes go in on the bracket that attaches to the steering rack?
Hi. Yes they do. The bracket has a notch on it and the bush has a corresponding piece as well hence it can only fit in a set position
@built mk1 do you push the top Bush in from the top of the bracket or from the underneath? Mine keeps popping back off onto the shaft
@@darrynstephen4611 . The bush has a lip on both sides that prevent it from popping out. It should be able to go in from either top or bottom.
Did u have any small black bushes left extra 2 by the lever 2 by the gearbox
Hi. I can't remember, but I did have some bushes left over.
I am struggling to get someone to help me fix the gear selection of my mk1 gear selection. Reverse, gear1 and 2 selection is problem.

@@SèbabatsoPaulos . Hi. This sounds like your clutch needs to be replaced.
Only clutch kit or also need to buy new clutch cable

Okay. Thanks bro. Will get back to you
