As usual another top interview Peter.Grant was a great centre who also should've won more caps but played in an era where there were outstanding outside centre's ie Japie Mulder,Andre Snyman,Marius Joubert.
I definitely can't agree with the fact that he said players from his era were LESS skilful than the players of today! There is NO way that someone like Faf, can even be mentioned in the same breathe as Joost for example! Andre Snyman, Andre Venter, John Erasmus, Henry Honiball, Andre Joubert, James Small etc., etc. less skilful?! Not at all!
Talent and skill are not the same thing. The game has changed. The skill set and skills that the current players have would make them look unreal back in the 90's. Try to have an honest look at this.
@@alistairclifton1286 I agree talent and skill are not the same. However I do not and don't have to agree that the current bunch are more skilful. Not on a whole anyway, in my opinion, the players of the past were more natural - and were given leeway to be more natural than today. The game is way more tactical or strategic today than before which would imply that (all the) players are perhaps "more" skilful. But no way - absolutely not is Faf more skilful than Joost for example. Joost was a freak - he could do everything. He was a 100% talented but had natural skill too! The Joost vs. Faf is an extreme example. The current Springbok team knows exactly what to do in terms of the game plan (that is a whole different debate in itself). The players know one another really well and the team work is top notch. Hence the reason they do well and win games they could easily lose.
Travesty what happened to him . I happen to know him and he is such a gem of a human . Brilliant all round human
Great guy. Very approachable. When I called him and invited him for the interview he did not hesitate! It was a pleasure having him on.

Thanks Sean! Glad you enjoyed it. Incredibly Grant only played in 2000. No Tests in any other year. Almost unreal. Great player and a great guest!
Was it Slap Chips that scored 4 tries?
Yes it was!
Lekke Gary Grant - AHS represent.
