    I had the amsoil atf added t my 2018 f150. I think the oil is great. But the ATF made the shifting rough. I switched to Valvoline ULV and it's running much better. Thanks for the videos.

      This is good to know, The Amsoil fluid is a little thicker, it would take a bit of time to make the adaptives learn to shift gentle again. But I found this comment in looking for using a little thicker fluid in performance 10r80 over 800 hp, Your results are what I was hoping for in my situation.

      Did you put in the Amsoil low viscosity fluid? The Mercon ULV is 4.5 Centistoke viscosity, The Mercon LV is 9 Centistokes . The Amsoil LV ATF is 7.5 Centistokes. I switched my 2018 F150 5.0 10R80 to the Amsoil LV ATF, and the shifting got MUCH better. Especially during the annoying skip shifts. Also, the trans temp went down 10 degrees. I am very pleased with it. So was just wondering if you put in the standard viscosity Amsoil ATF? Do you remember if it had a blue or a red cap on the bottle? That is an easy way to tell one from the other.

      @@craigg4246 I am thinking about changing mine to Amsoil but I read mixed things. So yours did shift smoother? I was going to do a drain and fill as I am only at 20k miles.

    Valvoline includes a higher concentration of their additive package in their ATF compared to Motorcraft. However, this does not mean that Valvoline's ATF is superior. It indicates that Valvoline needs to use more additives to achieve the same specs as Motorcraft, likely due to Motorcraft's utilization of a superior base oil. It is important to remember that the base oil comprises a significant portion of the overall ATF formulation.

      isn't valvoline full synthetic and motorcraft a synthetic blend?

    Sold my Mercedes-Benz and bought a Ford and thought it would save me some money but after researching, its not exactly cheap owning any vehicle in todays inflation. Thanks for a thorough video!

    Hi Mac - ACDelco also offers a ULV ATF, for their version of the Ford-GM 10 speed, presumably.

    Ford and GM run the same 10 speed transmission. Ford recommends using Mercon ULV. GM recommends using Dexron ULV. Are these fluids the same? Can Mercon be used in the GM, can Dexron be used in the Ford? This would be a great comparison. What are your thought's on this?

    I love the oil analysis. Can you do a video of changing the atf for the 8 speed transmission? Your doing a great job thanks MACT

    YEARS AGO,
    I had a transmission hickup with my Jeep. I took it into the dealer and was told the #1
    first thing they do is take an oil sample. To check the condition of the oil I asked. Oh,
    Hell No, to determine if your trans has genuine MOPAR ATF+4 in the trans for if you do
    not, we will not honor your warranty and we will send you on you way PLUS we will put
    our findings onto the Jeep service network and every dealer will know your warranty
    has been CANCELLED.
    !

    Thank you for doing the analysis and posting the result. I’ve been using Castrol Transmax Mercon VI / Mercon LV in my Ford Escape for several years. Not a fan of the Motocraft. Autozone recently stopped selling the Castrol so I’ve been looking into other options even though I’ve had fantastic results since purchasing my Escape with 94,000 miles. I did my first 3 drain and fills with Motocraft Mercon LV and noticed very little improvement. I noticed a good deal of improvement with each drain and fill with the Castrol which I’ve done 10 drain and fills. I currently have 169,000 miles. I think I’m going to go with the Valvoline which Autozone now varies in place of the Transmax. Long story short, are you still using the Valvoline? Did it do well for you? The numbers look very impressive except the acidity which I don’t know if that’s very high or not but it’s higher than most I’ve looked up.

    my Ford Ecosport 1.5 engine with automatic transmission model 6f15 used the Mercon ULV. The owner's manual says to change it at 150,000 miles. Do you think I should exchange it first?

    • @TheTopGun920
      @TheTopGun920 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Always change at 30,000 miles first. You have all those brand new trans gears wearing down for the first time, so you need to get out the initial metal contaminants. Then every 60,000 miles after that.

    So would you be comfortable using valvoline atf LV for the superduty 6R100 six speed transmission?
    I know it is not licensed but says it is compatible.
    I need to do a drain and fill on mine.
    I tow 12k during shredding season and work truck pretty hard in the summers.
    Thanks!

    Can I do a drain and fill with Valvoline ULV? This will mix with Motorcraft ULV wouldn't it and will that be ok?

    • @danbell6380
      @danbell6380 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually mixing ATFs you should be fine. Drive it a few hundred miles and drain and fill again, again and again until you are satisfied you replaced 100%. I did this with my Acura on Amsoil and it was fine. Shifts are very smooth.

    Transmission mechanic tells me there is a “range” of viscosity for the ULV transmission which allows Amsoil (ATL) fuel efficient transmission fluid to fall within the range to claim ok for ulv transmissions. Do you know the “range” for ULV viscosity at 40c & 100c?

    Your fluid links are not good. The Valvoline one is a type F, the Ford one is out of stock.
    That being said, im doing my first change on a 10R80 F150 i just got got with 47K miles. At this point im gonna stick with the Ford stuff.
