During one of my holidays in Spain, we had pizza in this resturant inside our holiday resort, and one of the options was "American" pizza. Pineapple+anchovies is one of my go-to pizzas. Anchovies would be far more beloved if they weren’t saltier than a devil’s left nut. The pineapple really helps in that regard.
Our class once went to a restaurant, where you can make your own pizza. I added the classics, but added french fries. It was a long time ago (like 8 years ago), but, in my opinion, it did tasted good!

There is actually an "American Pizza" being sold everywhere here in Italy, where potato strips and würstel are put on the pizza and cooked in wood-powered furnace. That one, is actually awesome especially with rosemary. Würstel could also be changed to normal sausage, norcia sausage or minced meat.

In Italy it's actually really common to find pizza with fries on top. It's called American pizza, it comes with fries, sliced hotdog sausage and either tomato sauce or no sauce. It's a go to for children and it's actually really good and filling. I order it a lot when I'm craving junk food.

Honestly, I don’t mind mushrooms…with other toppings. I like having mushrooms with olives, peppers, pepperoni, and sausage. The biggest example being a combo pizza pie.
Mushrooms are fantastic with a protein, they give more meat texture to the pie without adding grease or absurd amounts of sodium. I’ve fallen into sausage/mushroom as my go-to, but I’ll do pepperoni/mushroom every now and again.
Mushroom is really just good when combined with specific other toppings, they’re a Texture topping. Like Bacon is delicious but has the texture of drywall on a pizza and that’s why bacon and mushrooms works so well

so here's the thing about pineapple on pizza, specifically hawaiian pizza: its about balancing the flavour profile. If you imagine the flavours as shapes, the cheese is circular and the ham is rectangular. Those shapes are too...blotty on their own. Too heavy, too much. The pineapple provides a triangular taste that cuts through and keeps the heavier taste-shapes in check.

One time me and my brother were ordering pizza online from our favorite pizza place, and we decided to mix things up from our usual pepperoni and sausage order. After browsing their toppings, we ended up with a steak, onion, and french fry pizza. And it was REALLY good. The steak and onions were good by themselves, but the fries complimented them with a nice bit of salty, starchy flavor and a tender-yet-crispy texture. Since then that was our go-to order until that pizza joint sadly closed down last year.

Whenever I order pizza, especially if they don't have it on menu, I will go out and buy fries (McD's is the perfect level or horse-heart-stopping salt). And they go smashed right on top of a pizza. But that said, I don't know if I would do just cheese and fries on a pizza. Gotta have some pepperoni and bacon! Also, I would guess that Andy put uncooked fries on an uncooked pizza and thought it would cook all the way through. I would bet the fries were undercooked and certainly not crispy. Which is sin.
90% of pizzerias here in Italy have pizza with fries on their menus. It's usually called "americana", ironically enough. This pizza goes hard with kids but it's still a good enough pizza for everybody, if done properly.
In my country, there’s a type of pizza called Kebab Pizza, and it’s amazing. A normal pizza with cool meat slices, tomato’s, a green pepper thing that isn’t very spicy but tastes really good, all that stuff The best part? The meat, but the 2nd best part? It has fries on it, and it makes it SO much better. The fries are also perfectly salted so it adds to the taste of the pizza just enough to not overwhelm it. You can also take off the fries and eat them separately, and it’ll still be delicious
French fries on pizza is actually pretty common on pizza in Sweden. We have Kebab pizza with fries, garlic sauce and lettuce on the pizza.... I think the secret is putting it on after baking.
Kebab pizza and banana curry pizza are literally my favorite types of pizza but NOBODY GETS IT WHERE I LIVE. I tell them that I like banana curry pizza and they immediately recoil and say ew 😔
I'm very fond of pineapple on pizza, but never on its own. It needs something to compliment or contrast the sweetness of the fruit. I tend to prefer either pepperoni or Canadian bacon as well as peppers and onions. The combo of flavors is amazing, and then there was that one time I added jalapenos with it and it was magical.
Someone who understands! My favourite pizza is pineapple and pepperoni because of the contrast of the sweet and slight spicy combined with the cheese. It’s great and I don’t know why more people don’t try it

I can’t say this for others but when making homemade pizza when ever I add pineapple it always ends up bad…. However give me a Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple and man I might think I am in heaven.
No matter what people say about pineapple on Pizza, its still one of my favorite toppings but not on its own. Ham, bacon and pineapple together makes for a nice sweet and salty combo that Pretty much everyone I know likes, like all my friends, my family, and the Hawiian style pizza is usually sold out at stores around here despite them using having a bunch of space for them.
In Italy pizza with fries is an actual thing, I recommend you go to Italy (preferably the South, more specifically Naples but it doesn't have to be it) I can assure you it's an amazing pizza! can't believe you guys don't have it LOL Edit: remember to ask for teh fries to be put on the pizza AFTER it comes out of the oven

Hi yes, pizza enthusiast here. We have a variant of the french fry pizza you guys tried making that's a pretty popular choice here where I live- instead of full-on fries, they're way smaller and thinner, but much crispier. I think they're similar to those Pik-nik type of chips, and one of the largest pizza chains here have that topping, usually paired with pepperoni. The pizza's called Pepperoni Crunch, one of my favorites :)

I used to work at a pizza restaurant, one of those sorta trendy places in the city. I learned to love strange pizza ingredients like feta cheese, zucchini, and even pears and honey. I think the worst order I ever heard a customer order was anchovy and pineapple, nothing else.
Honestly, my go-to combination is jalapeno pepperoni. It's classic, it's spicy without being too spicy, and it makes the perfect basic set up for other secondary toppings.

For the fries: fry them before and after put 'em on the pizza but only when the pizza gas finished cooking. I highly recommend to put it on a pizza that has (cooked with it) würstel on top
Wanted to say this myself because the act of cooking stuff together can cause strange texture side effects.
One time me and my brother were ordering pizza online from our favorite pizza place, and we decided to mix things up from our usual pepperoni and sausage order. After browsing their toppings, we ended up with a steak, onion, and french fry pizza. And it was REALLY good. The steak and onions were good by themselves, but the fries complimented them with a nice bit of salty, starchy flavor and a tender-yet-crispy texture. Since then that was our go-to order until that pizza joint sadly closed down last year.

My standard go to for pizza is tuna, most restaurants in europe have it as a standard option but it is basically a piza with tomato sause cheese tuna and onion, simple and tasty

Surprisingly there are pizzas with fries on them. I’ve had this one several times that they call a boardwalk pizza (regular cheese pizza made with cheese fries in them) Definitely not the healthiest option for pizza but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. idk what andy did when he made his lol.
Fries on pizza is increadibly common here in Sweden and basically every pizzeria has it on thier menu. However it is almost always accompanied by kebab and kebabsauce(not actual sauce from the kebab), it's a great pizza but I may have just been conditioned to like it
Whenever I order pizza, especially if they don't have it on menu, I will go out and buy fries (McD's is the perfect level or horse-heart-stopping salt). And they go smashed right on top of a pizza. But that said, I don't know if I would do just cheese and fries on a pizza. Gotta have some pepperoni and bacon!
Also, I would guess that Andy put uncooked fries on an uncooked pizza and thought it would cook all the way through. I would bet the fries were undercooked and certainly not crispy. Which is sin.
90% of pizzerias here in Italy have pizza with fries on their menus. It's usually called "americana", ironically enough. This pizza goes hard with kids but it's still a good enough pizza for everybody, if done properly.
Where I live fries is a normal topping on pizza, it's usually labeled as kid's pizza but I still eat it sometimes

In my country, there’s a type of pizza called Kebab Pizza, and it’s amazing. A normal pizza with cool meat slices, tomato’s, a green pepper thing that isn’t very spicy but tastes really good, all that stuff
The best part? The meat, but the 2nd best part? It has fries on it, and it makes it SO much better. The fries are also perfectly salted so it adds to the taste of the pizza just enough to not overwhelm it. You can also take off the fries and eat them separately, and it’ll still be delicious

French fries on pizza is actually pretty common on pizza in Sweden. We have Kebab pizza with fries, garlic sauce and lettuce on the pizza.... I think the secret is putting it on after baking.

I'm very fond of pineapple on pizza, but never on its own. It needs something to compliment or contrast the sweetness of the fruit. I tend to prefer either pepperoni or Canadian bacon as well as peppers and onions. The combo of flavors is amazing, and then there was that one time I added jalapenos with it and it was magical.
Someone who understands! My favourite pizza is pineapple and pepperoni because of the contrast of the sweet and slight spicy combined with the cheese. It’s great and I don’t know why more people don’t try it

No matter what people say about pineapple on Pizza, its still one of my favorite toppings but not on its own. Ham, bacon and pineapple together makes for a nice sweet and salty combo that Pretty much everyone I know likes, like all my friends, my family, and the Hawiian style pizza is usually sold out at stores around here despite them using having a bunch of space for them.

Hi yes, pizza enthusiast here. We have a variant of the french fry pizza you guys tried making that's a pretty popular choice here where I live- instead of full-on fries, they're way smaller and thinner, but much crispier. I think they're similar to those Pik-nik type of chips, and one of the largest pizza chains here have that topping, usually paired with pepperoni. The pizza's called Pepperoni Crunch, one of my favorites :)

I used to work at a pizza restaurant, one of those sorta trendy places in the city. I learned to love strange pizza ingredients like feta cheese, zucchini, and even pears and honey. I think the worst order I ever heard a customer order was anchovy and pineapple, nothing else.
Honestly, my go-to combination is jalapeno pepperoni. It's classic, it's spicy without being too spicy, and it makes the perfect basic set up for other secondary toppings.
