Can we stop and appreciate what Jaiden has done in the past year? - Attempted and beat her very first Pokemon Nuzlocke - Failed her second Nuzlocke to bad luck RNG at the Elite Four and turned it into a great story - Created an entire speedrunning community (with a speedrun variant) by setting the first speedrun record for Cooking Mama 2 - Learned how to beat an entire Kaizo Mario game. And all of that presented as these fully animated storytime videos. Damn.
Can we just take moment to appreciate the quality of the content, especially in the short amount of time between videos. Considering writing, animating, storyboarding, not to mention the 17 hours you spent playing these difficult levels, it really is impressive. 10:23 was a lightbulb moment for me as I realized this was exactly how my experience was at 7-8 years old trying to beat Iggy’s Castle for the first time, complete with throwing my controller forcefully to the ground and doubting my abilities as a person. It occurred to me that the reason people make and play levels like this is to recapture the frustration they went through when they played SMW for the first time.
that actually makes a lot of sense, and i never thought about it like that i always saw as just "the thrill of the challenge" but never really considered why people would want that sorta thing i imagine it's also the same appeal of randomizers, having to rediscover how the game works and where everything is when you're already older, smarter and maybe even know the game better than the original devs

As a Kaizo fan myself, and watching a number of Kaizo runners, I have to say: even factoring in training from an expert, 17 hours total for your first Kaizo game is impressive (in a good way). While not a runner myself, one thing I see constantly is that two of the most important attributes needed are patience and persistence, and you definitely have those.
Respect for playing a Kaizo Hack and especially for beating it. I tried an easy one, which first introduced the mechanics in some non-punishing levels. But I couldn't even get consistent shell jumps, not to speak of the double shell jumps. It always looks so easy in the videos of Ryu, PooBear and others, but it's definitely not. So congrats for beating the game.

I play Kaizo in MM2, and even make my own platforming levels, but I wouldn't dare say that Kaizo "isn't that hard" or that it's "easy." By that logic, dark souls isn't hard, you just need to get used to it, or play a lot. You get what I'm saying?

As a Kaizo fan myself, and watching a number of Kaizo runners, I have to say: even factoring in training from an expert, 17 hours total for your first Kaizo game is impressive (in a good way). While not a runner myself, one thing I see constantly is that two of the most important attributes needed are patience and persistence, and you definitely have those.
I think she got that from drawing and animating in general
I'd be probably beat Mother 1-3 faster than I'd beat the hardest Kaizo Mario Rom

Respect for playing a Kaizo Hack and especially for beating it. I tried an easy one, which first introduced the mechanics in some non-punishing levels. But I couldn't even get consistent shell jumps, not to speak of the double shell jumps. It always looks so easy in the videos of Ryu, PooBear and others, but it's definitely not. So congrats for beating the game.

@@jojivlogs_4255 okay, yeah, you need practice. But literally the whole point of Kaizo is that it's hard. I play Kaizo in MM2, and even make my own platforming levels, but I wouldn't dare say that Kaizo "isn't that hard" or that it's "easy."
By that logic, dark souls isn't hard, you just need to get used to it, or play a lot. You get what I'm saying?
