Erin, absolutely love the channel. Any chance you’d be willing to do a segment where you list off your top 8” midbass drivers for Mobile Audio applications? Maybe ranging from budget to mid-priced and then to higher end?
Thanks for the info. I'm going to check out your other speaker reviews. I am still thinking of using these to replace my factory 6x9 to use with Illusion 3" for a 3 way setup. Then blend it into a 12" sub
@@anthonybrown6143 I ended up going with the Illusion 8” woofers. The Illusion sound good. I couldn’t find a dealer of either brand locally but figured tonal probably safer to stick with 1 brand
Great review mate. Thorough and informative. Hit home hard about looking up to dynaudio and dreaming as a youngster. Just set up a system i would have had wet dreams of at 19 yrs old. - Pioneer p99 headunit - Dyn system 342 dash mounted mids and highs - Scan 30w 12” sub - Focal fpx 5.1200 to run it all passive There is a idmax or JLw6 and another focal 4 channel for full active in my future too perhaps. Heres to being older and wealthier
Hey Erin, love your speaker reviews. If i didn't live in Canada, I would send you speakers to review. Have you organized a local audiophile club, so that members can loan you speakers for review? You should! Keep up the great work, man.
I do wonder why dynaudio costs a bit but has some anomalies. Perhaps an edge coating could help with that surround resonance. And no shorting ring. Maybe helps roll off that response through self inductance?
Great review. It seems there are several of these "vanity" speakers out there. They look really great, but the linearity of the BL curve is just bad and the Xmax is small. It looks like they could just center the coil in the gap better and get another mm of Xmax. It's a shame. You are providing a great service and helping people avoid buying low quality audio components.
The AD makes more sense for midbass because it has a bit more throw, more surface area and a bit higher sensitivity in that region. But for $800/pair, the AD doesn't seem like the best value. IMHO, what makes the AD worth the price is the shallow depth. If you don't need that then I'd look around for other options before spending that much money on the AD. IMHO.
I wish I had more friends into this stuff to critique my system properly and help me fine tune it especially since after going full active on the front stage of my 95 bmw I’m having conflict deciding on cutting off the high frequencies to my midbass woofer since it sounds really crisp while playing between 50hz-12khz. I like to listen to my music loud and when I cut off the woofers around your typical 3way freq range everyone suggests for 3way stage I loose so much of the vocals and the sound level drops a ton. I don’t know what’s the correct thing to do 🤯
Hi, fir your opinion it s possible to use this woofer in a two way system? Is it good system to use this woofer together with other Dynaudio esotec md 102 or esotar esotar 110? In two ways. Thanks a lot for your reply
Where would you put this Dynaudio with other brands? ie focal, hertz, etc. I am looking at their esotec system 362 but also looking at focal ES165KX3 TIA!
@@ErinsAudioCorner awesome thanks! I asked some people in the car audio world and some said they never heard of them. So I wondered if they were ranked up there.
Hi , AD W800neo vs DYNAUDIO MW172 . Pros cons what would you do? They are going in the doors of a Chevy Silverado with heavy sound deadening/dampening. I’m also considering the Regular AD ferrite W800. They will be used with a 3 way active system. I am also looking into the illusion c8 carbon also .
I would much rather have a soft bottom design for a woofer or midwoofer (where xmech greatly overshadowed Xmax). So much damage can happen, so quickly, when your VC starts to tap dance on the back plate.
Kind of disappointing for such expensive driver. I remember when in 80s and 90s Dynaudio provided almost all the drivers they had in production to DIY people. Many kits were available. And they used x-overs with lattice delay networks. I was Focal guy then. Today both of the companies pulled out from DIY audio, so I don't really care anymore, but interesting see to what they're worth.
@@ErinsAudioCorner Hello 👋 Mr. Erin. You remember, I told you about Dynaudio.. Look carefully.. Dynaudio made own drivers extremely cheaply and stupidity. Look to basket.. Basket made catastrophic cheaply, membrane - polypropylene (cheapest material), for all drivers Dynaudio use aluminum coils, and one important moment - for audiophil drivers need winding coil on both sides, but Dynaudio drivers have only outside winding coil(like 70-80s) . For audiophil drivers very need low Mms, extremely high Qms and very soft suspensions, need extremely low Fs, need powerful magnet system for very low Qts. Total result - Dynaudio drivers made extremely cheaply , maybe cost price only 2-3$!This real! Dynaudio drivers have impermissible bad T/S parameters. Heavy membrane, biggest 3'' coil, which killed speed reaction, hard suspension and extremely little magnet systems..For example, I know about amazing 3'' driver, which have Mms only 2gr.,but BL factor 5.2, 4'' driver, which have 7-8 BL factor etc... And about one nuance. Dynaudio made a lot of money on replacing tweeters,Dynaudio specially made very thin and bad membrane for own twetters, therefore Dynaudio tweeters have very short life. Mr. Erin, in future no forget about Dynaudio. Dynaudio - first mafia company in all audio industry. Dynaudio big machine, which made money out of thin air...
Happy to see that there are people interested in technical aspects. Not only magic...

I've always loved their basket design, large voice coils (hard to overheat) and MSP cone material. They just look like they mean business.

What do you think is the better value option for a 60-300 midbass? Audio development?

Hi Eren! Do you think I can use a pair of Dynaudio 172's to work as subwoofers in my car?
Nope. I would never make that recommendation.
Can I ask what was your true opinion about Dynaudio car speakers? Are they worth the price?
I use a set of Dyn 430 mids in my car.
Those drivers look a lot like morel designs, or vice versa.
