    About 20 years ago I used polyester resin mixed with thin silver sand (that I bought in a bag and dried in the oven before mixing it. It smelled in the oven, but got perfectly dry). I used it as a "milkshake" for strengthening and sealing my kickpanels. That works great too...!
    Now I maybe would add some small lead balls to it as well.

    I made some milkshake last week for the first time and applied it to my kick pods, it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be! I used just fiber filler & resin and it worked out great for me
    The difference is night and day with the milkshake, I wish I had used it on my past project such as A-pillars & speaker pods!
    Great vid Peter, looks extra good with the pigment! 😀

    The way you said...."I'm fed up with...." made me think I was gonna see 200 comments and 50 dislikes when I scrolled down from the video! LOL!
    On the other hand, I am SO excited because I'm gonna see this epic milk shake video when roll back up and finish watching! It's been almost 3 years can you believe it Peter from uh um um Peter from.....oh yessss.....PsSound! And to think I have 13 drywall screws in my back now. That's about the same number of drywall screws that you use to attach your A-pillar pods to deflated airbags.
    I'm KIDDING....calm down! I can feel you get angry at me though my keyboard!
    LOL!
    At least my screws, wait I will call them fasteners since that will sound more pro, will not rust and yours will! Mine are an exotic alloy of titanium, spruce pulp, and urinal cake. I know you remember that combo. It's what you told me your shake consists of. What did you call the name for the patent? Oh my yes!
    Patent #2-4-69, "Shake - N- Cake"
    Ok ok....enough joking. Got to get serious. Someone will get pissed off that I'm not taking this serious enough because what we make our shakes out of is way more important than this new TUMOR that my oncologist found in my spine! LOL! Good news is at least its in a section that they haven't cut me open yet! Yay.
    Geez.....look at the size of this post, and yes, that's what Brianna said! HAHA!
    I miss talking to you Peter. But at least you're building cars. Since it looks like mine will never get done, I'll get to live through your beautiful systems my brother!

  • @rodrigobau49
    @rodrigobau49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Peter, I sow that sometimes you close mid-range pods, but sometimes you let it open. Are there any advantage in a open pod or it’s just more Simply Work?

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's more that some brands and models actually REQUIRE the pods to vented and the larger speakers of the line up, to be open directly to the outside environment. Hybrid Audio Technologies is one of these companies. Yes, you can use enclosures, ports, and even membranes, but that makes things rather complex and are only used when the more simpler routes can't be taken.
      Once again, this is when the experience of an installer is warranted. I've seen to many people purchase speakers for $1k plus to suddenly get "frugal" when it comes to asking for advice then speak bad about the company.
      All because the purchaser didn't want to at least pay for some install advice!

      @@ealneas1 honestly he's discussed and disclosed the mixture(s) several times here on TH-cam, his personal/business Facebook page, and other groups as well. I just "searched" it while in the group I helped found and moderate, and located it in 3 of the first 7 returns.
      I promise I'm not being difficult or an ass, most know that's not who I am. I just don't like for it to appear that this man is hiding something or not trying to help the car audio community. He does this all the time, and for free, while taking time away from his company's and personal time.
      Then you have others that are employed, sit at the comp and use the net that their boss pays them to work at for him or her, and use that time to insult other's systems and equipment choices. Also preceding to then say how to "properly" install when they have not even turned a screwdriver once other that up to get the cheap vodka out!
      Whew! I didn't know I was so angry! lol!

    Good stuff here! Question though, I have started using regular car audio sound deadener on the inside of small sealed boxes like that. Would the milkshake bond to the foil on the deadener?

    Milkshake is what they make cars out of in the RUST BELT. Its an alloy of Beer Cans, Dip, and and 90% Krusty's imitation Chewing tobacco.
    For those of you who Read Books, Vance Dickonson's Loudspeaker cookbook, has a formula in it to make TOP SECRET sound deadener for speakers with Sand and this Secret Mix.
    Amazing what you can get at the Library. I ordered my Copy WAY back from parts express.
    The school of thought then and now really has changed quite a bit. Personally? I never liked putting speakers where my feet were. I like Leg room and my dead pedal.
    For me? Seeing the article in Scholastic magazine really got me Hooked seeing these "Boom Cars". The STUFF that use to do back then. It was amazing! HORRIBLE. Horrifying. But amazing! LOL.
