  • The sound of an African Barred Owlet making typical calls in the African bush at night. The most commonly heard song of this species is a long series of downslurred plaintive churry whistles which accelerate and become purring notes. African Barred Owlets also make trilling calls, soft whistles and croaking sounds. This call of this species can often be heard during the day, especially in the early morning.
