I petted a baby owl and an older owl at a stall in Hastings in the UK a couple of years ago, and I'll never forget it, so gentle and receptive to my affection. Owls are my spirit animal, I always get owl in those quizzes. They are so funny, inquisitive, perceptive, but can be assertive and a hunter when required. They are indeed very much like cats.
How do you guys know Owls aren't just hypnotizing you into believing they are cute?

Oh my God! What pictures you got! I could not believe how the owls were looking straight into the camera, and the expressions on their faces, and how amazing and expressive are their eyes! Such wondrous creatures and so adorable, I sat watching just going "A-w-w-w-w-w!" practically the whole time. Just amazing. Thanks very much for a wonderful and totally unexpected delight! :)

We went to this zoo one time and they had this owl...his eyes were huge and he kept moving his head in circles and staring at us...I could not help but keep laughing! They are so cute!
Like cats, owls are near perfect hunters and killer carnivores... but we still find them adorable.

We were walking down the street one evening with our cat which was 6 months old along when she suddenly vanished into thin air, without a sound whatsoever, no rustling of grass, leaves or feathers or cat hair anywhere! We looked and called her for several hours without response or finding a clue as to her disappearance. Next morning, neighbor who works late shifts told me that he had noticed an owl perched on his flag pole many nights. Hunting? Perhaps it had an eye out for Miss Kitty? It broke my what could have happened, as she had adopted us and we loved her so! Nothing could have done to prevent that except keeping her inside although she appeared to enjoy our strolls. But I do love owls and admire their graceful flight and magnificence! 🐾❤️🐾.
Owls are my all-time favorite bird :) I would love to pet one even if it was just once, that would make my life.

No. Any birds don't want to be petted, cuz they have special fat on their feathers, that makes it waterproof. If you pet an owl, it won't like it.

Awesome video, but owls are not pets people. I've worked with them for 5 years, and even the smallest owls, though cute, can be absolutely vicious. They're predators, and if kept in captivity should have plenty of space and an outdoor aviary. They're not birds that can be kept in an indoor cage. They need to be flown to be exercised, it's just not something that the average person should be able to own.

Love owls - almost as much as bald eagles :-) So expressive and pretty much all of them are truly "Death From Above"! Nothing better than raptors!
My husband and I were watching TV the other night when we heard something hit our window. Here it was a young screech owl. It was the cutest little thing. It was obviously stunned, and I thought for sure one of the stray cats waiting in the alley nearby would get it. So I picked it up, held it, petted it and talked to it until it came to its senses. It kept looking up at me while I was petting it and talking to it. It eventually was able to stand up on its feet. Then it flew off my hand and then onto the top of my husband's car. We went over to it, and it was looking at us. My husband started petting it, and it started getting sleepy. It eventually put its one leg up, and it closed it's eyes to go to sleep. So we left it alone, but kept looking out the window to check on it.
We later looked out the window and saw it was in the space between the windshield and hood of the car. I thought maybe it fell there after falling asleep. So we back out to check on it. I thought it was stuck, but it wasn't because when I went to reach for it, it flew up onto the roof of my neighbor's garage across the street. It stayed there the entire night, and even the entire morning. But then we had to leave for a family function. I hope it was doing allright because I found it unusual that it would have stayed there all night. I was hoping it would have found shelter in a tree somewhere overnight. I am hoping it eventually did that after we left.
I will be sad if I find out something bad happened to it while we were gone.
I had tried to contact a local wildlife center before we had to leave, but because it was the weekend, we never heard back. I would have had someone come and take the owl, which was possibly injured, to a rehab facility for injured wildlife.
I hope they came and got him.

+akar siaman 1.) Its illegal to own them in the US without a permit 2.) They can live a very long time in captivity and most people aren't up for that challenge 3.) They eat dead things. You need to keep dead mice/rats/rabbits in your freezer, thaw them out each day, remove the intestines, and then feed to your owl. 4.) Owls are very destructive 5.) You will be constantly cleaning 6.) They need lots of room. Wonderful, beautiful animals, but not good for pets. I work at a wildlife center, we use owls all the time in our education programs. Also rehabilitate ones that come in sick or injured and release them. I very much love working with them, but I would never own one.

My horned owl was a blast and alot of work before he passed away. He used to hoot at night and wake everyone up. Wouldn't stop unless you woke up and hooted with him.
