Laying out clothes is great tip! There were several mornings during Goofy training I had to get up early to get it done on the treadmill and having everything ready to go was so helpful.
A tip I would add is to not skip strength training! I can tell a difference when I’m regularly doing my peloton strength classes and when I’m not 😊

These videos are always so inspiring to me. I trained alone for Dopey ‘24 and it definitely changed my life. It was so difficult but I’m so so proud that I was able to do it. I’ll be in Orlando cheering during Marathon weekend ‘25 and I can’t wait!!

Surprise Sunday night video! I can’t believe we’re doing this again! Dopey, season 2 - we are smarter and ready to apply all those lessons learned from season 1.
You can thank the lake and a late night for not getting it out on time. 🤣 Oh well.
I wanted to the Dopey marathon, but it was sold out. So, next year, I'll try to be faster when using the laptop, tablet, and phone. I'm doing the half marathon in November. Thanks for the training tips.

So excited for this series! So encouraged by you running in the heat. We are in north FL and it’s so hot and we haven’t been wanting to run but we need to jump on this training plan so we can run a half at wine and dine! Can’t wait to watch the next video

I was thinking about switching to a hydration vest instead of my handheld one, but I am afraid it will bother my neck and shoulders cause I hold so much tension and stress there haha Congrats one crushing week 1!
I’ll report back. I’m super sensitive about my shoulders- especially my left- too. I will say that it didn’t bother me at all with the amount of water I had in it for that run. I plan on adding more and running with it soon.
A cooling rag helps me train in the summer heat.

Yay. Love the videos. I just completed a 5k. First one in a year. I walked and still cut my time by an hour ( I am a slow walker). I am so excited and will be starting to train so eventually I can run the next one.

Agree with all your tips - especially laying your clothes out the night before. Then I don't have to think when it's 0 dark 30 and don't want to turn a light on which would wake my wife. 😮
For me, after my shoes, my 2nd most important piece is my sweatband in this OK heat! My eyes were watering just watching the salty sweat roll into your eyes. 😢

And with week 1 training for Nov WDW Wine & Dine 2course challenge followed by transition to Jan Marathon weekend Goofy Challenge.
Pre / post race stretch and ice bath are beneficial for me.
In addition to breaking in new gear gradually.

which training are you doing and are you doing wine dine? i am in that for 10k and half and then dopey so trying to figure out which plan to use. also if i plan to walk/jog majority of dopey do you think doing the training with mainly walking will help without tons of actual running? i want to run but my knees and RA don’t want to listen 😂
I’m doing all 3 races at wine and dine but I’m following the Galloway Dopey plan. The long run lines up within a week for wine and dine and people usually use the wine and dine half as their long run.
You can absolutely walk dopey but keep in mind you’ll need to keep the 16:00 minute per mile pace in order to not be swept so training at that pace is crucial. Walking Dopey is chess- not checkers. A lot has to do with corral placement, how far up in your corral you start, whether you stop for characters, etc. It’s possible, just takes some planning ahead of time.
You mentioned having a knee issue. What is it if you don’t mind me asking and what do you do to combat that during training?
I had an overuse injury due at the end of training for dopey ‘23. Since I was doing a perfect season it never had the chance to properly heal until the summer. This time around I’ll be adding in more lower body strength training and lots of stretching.
My tip , dont pig out the day before a long run! Your tummy will curse your name!
YES!! Nothing new or heavy the day before a long run!
