  • When introducing the H&K P30 line with our LTT Customizations, we had several questions on the differences between the size, type and features of each of these models. We put together this video to explain the difference between the sizes and the LEM (Law Enforcement Modification) and DA/SA (Double Action / Single Action) and Safety Models to help you find the right fit.
    00:00 - 00:22 Intro
    00:23 - 01:14 DA/SA
    01:15 - 02:27 LEM
    02:28 - 03:28 DA/SA with Manual Safety
    03:29 - 04:13 Outro

    I have the P2000 9mm LEM. Outstanding! Never understood how the P2000 is so overlooked and underappreciated. Especially since 2004, it has become the largest contracted law enforcement sale to the federal government in history. (DHS, ICE, and Border patrol)

      I bought the regular SA/DA P30. Bought and installed the short reset, LEM conversion, flat trigger, plus other upgrades. Best gun I own. I love the LEM trigger. Upgraded. Took me 7 hours to get the darn thing back together lol it's def not a Glock.

    There is more to know about the LEM. The brief description here only sheds a light on its actual complete function. It must be added that the LEM has a short reset after the round fires, but when you release the trigger all the way. The hammer returns to its down position. At that point, it's
    a full stroke of D.A. again, (with a smooth, light, full stroke pull. It only becomes a heavy pull when not cocked aka the cocking pre loads the spring for the easy light long pull.) Think about it as a hybrid d.a. system.

      Thank you for posting this. He totally left this out and dropped the ball imo. Everyone that owns an LEM know this but everyone trying to understand needs to know there's a short and fairly crisp trigger reset that will result in balls out rapid fire. a la HK.

    I must be weird, because I kinda figured the decock on a USP would make more sense if the hammer was lowered safely by pushing the safety lever through the Safe position, not through the Fire position.

    • @cncmillman
      @cncmillman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The German military USP (P8) was configured with safety lever up being fire position. But safety lever up for safe position is same as 1911 which is what most are used to.

    • @joystickhappy
      @joystickhappy ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the cool thing about .40 caliber pistols. All you need to change them from .40 to .357 sig is just a barrel swap and everything else works with either caliber. I'm planning to do the same with a USP compact.

    how does it compare to the SIG DAK system?

    • @LangdonTactical
      @LangdonTactical  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not really compare. The DAK is a full DA-only system. The hammer is not pre-cocked, and the trigger has to go all the way forward to reset for the next shot. The DAK is an excellent DA trigger, but it functions much differently than either the LEM or the DA/SA guns we are talking about here.

  • @thevillageyid

    Potential new gun owner here. What would be more ideal for home defense? Or is it a matter of which you train on?

    • @LangdonTactical
      @LangdonTactical  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It would depend on what you train on, but the LEM trigger is a much simpler system to learn and use.

    • @keithgraham9547
      @keithgraham9547 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of your decision may be what you think about safety features. If you're talking strictly home defense, a short barrel shotgun is great
      If this doubles as a carry pistol, recognize there are many more accidental discharges than actual defensive uses. IMO, one should decide what they are comfortable with as far as safety features, and buy and train accordingly.
      Take into account other people in the house, especially children.
      Again, IMO, these differences are not the huge difference that a lot of videos and shooters make out . I move between different firearms and the way they fire pretty easily.
      And triggers and sights and safeties and ammunition are constant sources of arguments with everyone. Reality is, once you sight in a particular weapon with a particular ammo, and work with it some, you should be able to put most rounds into the center of mass (the torso) of a perp if need be.
      If you're really going to spend the time, money, and effort to become a good shooter, these differences become more important.
      Personally, I like a da/SA, with or without a safety, but definitely with a decocker. But I also carry striker-fired guns. The LEM essentially mimics a striker-fired.
      Fi or what it's worth, I suggest starting with a good 22lr and getting confident with it. Ammo is cheap, you can afford to shoot it a lot. And if it's your only weapon for a while, that's ok, no one wants shot with anything. You can probably buy a 22 AND a shotgun for the price of a medium-priced handgun.
      Good luck, and enjoy!

      @heystarfish100 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have owned a P30sk V3LE with no safety for many years. I find it to be a fantastic choice for carry and home protection. I specifically chose this model as I did not want to have a safety lock out switch, I wanted night sights, the bobbed hammer to hold down with my thumb while re holstering and the added safety of a DA/SA trigger. I really enjoy having a DA/SA trigger with the de-cock. To have a gun with these features make it an incredible experience learning and building confidence in carrying and using. I love to practice all aspects of firing this weapon at the range. There is the DA shot followed with a de-cock and repeat, a DA shot followed with SA shots and then the pre-cock SA only shots. That’s a lot more fun shooting than the same thing over and over again. Becoming a master at shooting this weapon is a joyful process. I highly recommend this variant. The only thing I have modified on this gun is to purchase several 15 round capacity magazines. My usual carry choice is the 15 round magazine.

    • @farmcat3198
      @farmcat3198 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The P30 LEM is the kind of pistol that subtly says to you "Do you really want to shoot this person?" before you make a terrible mistake.

    • @Shoop...
      @Shoop... หลายเดือนก่อน

      300 blk hands down. I personally would suggest the CMMG Dissent, get the shortest barrel. Subsonic rounds provide both low noise to attract unwanted neighborhood attention and they don't over penetrate like supersonic rounds do, potentially passing through walls injuring others. Pistols are nice...but you said Ideal. take it or leave it
      edit: The p30sk shines as a safe carry pistol. The hammer provides the user an extra level of safety that reduces negligent discharges and just gives you more control over the connection between the firing mechanism part of the pistol and the butt end of a cartridge. Everyone with 2 brain cells that works together likes that extra control. If you are the type that trains trains trains, then you might find that extra level of "murphy proofing" in the way of your ultimate goal of taking over the world and dominating your close but small group of acceptable friends that you would actually in real life, show your guns to and shoot with outside a gun range.
      right? Well, fine...whatever
