Dan Henry 1964 GT Chronograph Review (Tudor Black Bay Chronograph affordable alternative part 2)

- A month on from watches and wonders, the 2021 Tudor Black Bay Chronograph M79360N-0002 is still the most highly talked about time piece.
The Panda dial and the black dial has the watch community divided on which way to go. To me I still prefer the panda dial i.e the white dial with black subdials.
Demand for this watch is already skyrocketing and waitlists at authorised dealers seem to get longer and longer.
In addition to the long wait time the price point of approx 7000 AUD for the bracelet version for 6650 AUD for the leather or nato strap version puts it in the upper tier of the luxury segment and may be out of reach for many.
I have already seen them on the secondary market asking for a premium above the retail price but hopefully this will slow down as more and more watches are released to authorised dealers.
Given the goal of this channel is to showcase affordable yet high quality timepieces, in this video I do an in depth review of the Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo Chronograph (the Silver Panda Tricompax) as a super affordable alternative to the Tudor Black Bay Chronograph reference M79360N-0002

Just ordered the white panda dial! Will be my first Dan Henry watch. I was torn between this one and the 1962, which also appealed to me, but I think the 1964 is more elegant. Wanted to kill 2 birds with one stone. A dressier watch and a chronograph.
1962 looks very good, but is taller, thicker and looks more like a tool watch and I have enough tool watches 😅

The beads of rice bracelet is impossible to remove. You better like it because once it is in, it will never come off.

I have the exact same watch as you and I find the legibility a problem. I hadn't realised prior to ordering that it would cause me difficulty, but it does and as a consequence I don't wear what is otherwise a fine, affordable vintage looking watch as often as I should. If anyone is interesting in ordering the 1964, I would say choose a dial/hands combo with higher contrast.

I have this DH watch. Nice watch, great size. A bit hard to justify a mechanical chronograph given how often I use that feature. So the DH 1964 works for me.

The Hoffman is a better value in my opinion. Sapphire crystal and very well built. I'm enjoying mine very much. Sometimes they have sales so keep an eye on their website!

The Hoffman mecha-quartz is now on sale for $189 and includes a sapphire crystal. Great value compared to this one.
I had a bad experience buying from DH. I'm sure they are good watches, but their customer service is very bad. I paid for express shipping and FedEx lost my package! DH support hasn't helped enough and doesn't communicate well. I haven't received a decent update on the dispute and I never received the watch! 😒
That turns me off on a company that I had high hopes for. 😞

It looks more like Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chrono Panda.
Those or the seiko speedtimer...money is not an issue,obviously both cheap.
Seiko has the brand heritage and is solar powered
I love seiko and own several seikos.solar doesn't mean much,also have bunch of solar powered watches.not a huge difference to battery powered watches.
Is the Speedtimer as elegant or more sporty in person?
