A few years ago , my wife started doing overtime at work , working Sundays etc. She wouldn't tell me why. Turns out she started working overtime around July to buy me a Tag Heuer F1 watch , she knew I liked that particular model think it's caz1110 , and worked her backside off to get me one. Neither of us had well paid jobs and it was a major effort from her to get me it , so for me on both looks and sentiment , I love the Tag Heuer F1 watch.. Nice balanced video , mate 👍
This is the best story. She is a gem. And now the watch she bought you will mean more than any other watch that you buy and you will always have fond memories of it
I started my first paid job in my last year of high school, soon as I could legally work in a bar (18yo where I live) so I could work long hours and build up overtime pay on Sundays. I always wanted a T/H and that was my goal with my first purchase from my own salary. Anyway 19 months later of working 3 nights in a row to 3am, on top of finishing off my high school studies and senior school sporting commitments, whilst being medically diagnosed as an insomniac, I got my Tag Heuer F1 Chronograph. I was almost 20 by the time I got it. I'm now 40 and I still have the watch and it functions perfectly after just having a major service done. It serves me as a constant reminder that hard work always gets rewarded and to never be afraid to work my absolute arse off to earn something I want in life.
Thats really inspiring! Im in the UK and am currently in college, i've worked for a couple of months now and am saving up for an Aquaracer due to loving the style😁 Thank you for your story!
You’re a very positive guy, I like how you don’t feel the need to talk bad about other people or brands. So many people are jumping to tear another person or brand down.
every watch has a purpose and place , and at the end of the day who cares it supposed to be a fun hobby !! id say there are only two watch brands i actually hate out of the endless amount of watch brands
The trouble with TAG Heuer isn’t that people are trying to tear it down. The trouble is that the advertising is so relentless that people get sucked in without first looking around. There are lots of great watches out there and alternatives are think on the ground. TAG Heuer are a brand which has become an embarrassment. Having said that, I would never tell anyone not to buy one if that’s what they really want. I would simply encourage them to look wider and make sure of what they really want. Owners are not the problem here.
These days people are just followers.. they buy things that they dont necessarily like themself. I love rolex but i still wouldnt buy half their watches doesnt matter how rare.. i only want what i like. Same goes for tag.
well said Charles !!! get a watch for yourself not for other people. Im going to try to get my hands on a Tag to review for my channel iv never really spent time with one, just have seen them online. Im a big fan of the Monaco
I love Tag Heuer and I'm buying one this year. Anyone that grew up in the 80s - 90s knows Tag was a top 5 option. We are bringing back the Tag demand and hype
My Dad left me his 1982 Heuer Pasadena to me when he passed away, and it is my most cherished watch, and one of my most cherished possessions. He wore it every day of his working life from 1982 until around 2010 when he retired. Watching him tap it on his palm to wind it every morning at the breakfast table is one of my favorite memories. That was THE watch that started my love of watches. It has been serviced only one or two times in its near 40 years, and still keeps perfect time. Incredible watch.
Mad respect for this company review. I'm not a fan of Tag Heuer, just not my cup of tea, but it's a good brand and I wouldn't mind owning one of their pieces. I quite like a few of their newer pieces but I never thought this brand was low quality, just not my style. Thanks for the commentary of the tour.
It's refreshing to hear a balanced review about Tag Heuer. I paid about $2500 for my Tag GMT and love it. According to one of your competitor watch reviewers, who admittedly never owned or experienced a Tag, I wasted my money.
I appreciate that this is somewhat of an old video, but I’ve recently purchased my first Tag Heuer, the Monaco. Admittedly my watch collection is quite small compared to others, but it has become my favourite piece very quickly. I just love looking at it. I can’t imagine ever feeling differently about it. Thank you Tag Heuer.
Well, I got rid of my cheap watches and I'm down to 4 watches, that's my collection. Omega, Tag Heuer are the more expensive ones. A nonbranded quartz watch I bought over 20yrs ago, it has sentimental values, also its a Breitling homage but looks great... the 4th I might shouldn't mention. It's my fitness watch. That's it. I sold all my cheaper watches, I had a collection of Invicta, Seiko, Swatch, Pagani, Citizen aso. I barely wear them, so decided to let go.
Wow - immediate subscribe! This guy is as real as it gets, an open minded positive watch enthusiast? This is truly a rare breed. Majority of watch snobs ruin the watch community parading about their ideal Rolex
Most brilliant phrase I've heard for a long times regarding watches at 9m50s is "If you like a watch, that is all that matters becase you are going to be wearing it". Simple. All video has sensitive observations. Well done, TGV. Oh, and one listens to you...you speak proper English!
Love the mature, considered and educated response to the Tag Heuer question, the last video I watched on the subject was basically a childish rant about the brand being overpriced junk. I know very little about watches but noticed most collectors don't mention them much so decided to try to find out why, glad I found this video I will take The Urban Gentry's advice over the previous guy's any day, Thanks.
I've had a vintage Carrera now since 1998. That watch has never let me down. It's been in lake after lake, trekking through the woods on rainy days, swimming pools...still going strong.
I didn’t really understand the dislike for TAG Heuer, I’m looking at picking one up now and the markdown on a two year piece is incredible. It’s a solid piece with nice aesthetics and decent history. I guess it comes down to just buying what you like.
Great video. This was needed. Too much snobbery towards brands like Tag. So awesome that you took us into the factory and humanized the company the way you did.
I have a Carrera CV2014 that I wear proudly. I get compliments on it all the time. It’s a very high quality premium watch from a great manufacturer. It’s also horologically important as Heuer helped invent the automatic chronograph movement.
I’ve been working since I was 16, I’m now 19 and have just bought my first tag heuer f1 and I love it and I’m so proud of myself for working hard to achieve something I loved
The Tag Heuer Carrera Lap-timer S was my first luxury watch. It got me into this hobby and has many fond memories attached to it. It will always be in my collection and I will always have an affinity for Tag Heuer because of it. Great video as per usual TGV.
My dad gifted me a tag heuer formula 1 back in 1999 when I graduated in high school because he knows how badly i wanted the tag heuer. And now i own 3 tag heuer and love them. Actually just bought the new aquaracer 300.
I own 3 TAG Heuer's and they are dear to me as they were gifts . The point you make about "liking it" and "that is what is important" is the key take-away here for me. Price should never be so important that it could influence you to settle for something just to fit in. I love your content. Thanks to you and a handful of others I feel like I am an informed watch lover/collector. Before I discovered you, I really was in the dark about watches. Thank you so much (Also love your logo and intro's)
What a great review! Even though I usually wear my Rolex Explorer II, I completely fell for the 43 mm Aquaracer with the blue sunburst dial and bought it 3 weeks ago. And the quality, precision and design is even better than expected.
You are ABSOLUTELY the very best Watch enthusiasts' channel on TH-cam. The constant respect given to all watch brands. The educational content,The humor, everything is on point. The Gentry appreciates you.
You're absolutely right. You know the beard man who keeps saying "Tag Heuer is crap" in his several videos? As The Urban Gentry said, he should respect all the effort that people put into their watches. I just bought a professional 2000 and already interested in S/el… Other people's opinions should never be cared.
Who else thinks quality timepieces would make a better wedding "band" than a ring? 😊 (Edit: thanks for the likes.. I've never had this many on any comment!)
@@Parocha No. I meant that I could literally throw away/ hock/ melt and repurpose a ring... but a watch, with it's emotional ties, contrasting with the likelihood that it was one I picked out for myself, therefore wanted badly...I'd feel the watch to be " tainted, if not cursed" by it's "history". I still doubt I'd keep it. Besides... in all likelihood, I purchased both watches, so, I'll be damned if she's gonna get mine...
I received a "Jason Bourne" Link chronograph from my Uncle which he passed down to me when I started to seriously get into watches. It was his first Tag he ever bought and is now my first Tag. It may be close to 20 years old, but is a classic sports design which will last for a very long time.
i’ve got two. i wear them because i personally like the way they look and they are at a reasonable price point IMO. i have a carrera and i love it and i have a formula one watch. i think they are an underrated company that deserve more respect
My first Swiss watch was a TAG Heuer quartz Formula One. I got it because guys I knew had had TAG's for 20 years and still liked them and they still ran, even without servicing. I liked my TAG so much, it got me collecting Swiss and German mechanical watches. Today, I have Hamiltons, Sinns, and Tudors, but I still wear my TAG every week. It has become my weekender/outdoor watch, and I very much appreciate its toughness.
I bought my Tag Heuer Aquaracer 43mm two weeks ago. And I preferred her to a Breitling Superocean Heritage. I am absolutely excited and even proud to wear a Swiss.
I've never been a huge an of Tag Heuer, purely because none of their designs really stood out to me. However, they have really knocked it out of the park recently! I now have a F1 chronograph and there are plenty more on my list I would love to get. Aquaracer professional superdiver, Aquaracer professional 300, Autavia flyback chronograph. But the one I'm really lusting over is the Carrera chronograph in green, absolutely stunning watch!
I just bought the TAG HEUER FORMULA 1 X SENNA. Absolutely love this video you made and it has made me appreciate this watch even more. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you TGV. Their history is epic and you changed my mind. I’ve now just bought my first. Heuer, the Jack Heuer 85th birthday Autavia. It’s a beautiful watch that I never would have bought - THANK YOU.
Just saw this video. I own a TAGHeuer and a cheap one that is . A formula 1 automatic. Truly my first expensive watch . And hearing all these watch experts knock on it have made me feel a little on the low side lol !!! But you my friend . My hat of to you . A man that appreciates the hard work of people regardlessof what they do . Now that's a gentleman and a scholar. Love watching your watch reviews . Thank you for teaching and inspiring me on my small journey of watch collecting .
A very well balanced and constructive video TGV. At last someone appreciates and highlights that the cost of any retail item will cost more than the value of just its materials.
THANK YOU so much for your accurate review. I've had several TAG Heuer watches, the latest addition is a CARRERA Calibre 16 and I love it ! I have never seen the factory before and that tour was awesome !
I own the CV2014. FT6014 Carrera Chronograph Automatic Black Rubber Watch for 17 years and never get tired of wearing it. I enjoy other makes as well. Many companies have their ups and downs and that's all apart of the process of growing as a brand, but more importantly as a person trying to better it and ourselves no matter what task is at hand. I would like to say thank you for sharing this experience with us and please keep the videos coming. Enjoying the content.
my parents bought me a brown carrera calibre 16 as my first ever watch... I still have it and it looks so sporty and I still love wearing it... ! thanks for making this video TGV!
I have 4 tags starting with the $1095 orange dial quartz to the first level chronograph a $2000 F1 then to a Carrera auto and az $6000 Steve Monaco. I love them all and they are perfect. I have a background in Medical Quality Control where some parts were measured to 10,000 of an inch on an optical comparator. So I know quality when I see it.
Just found your video when looking up tag watches on TH-cam. I got one when I was in 10 grade. I got to pick a watch out at that time from my grandmother. It was like around 1989 1990. It was a divers watch. It had a silver and gold band with a gold face with glow markers hands and a moving bezel. It had a pice that opens the watch band to fit over a divers wet suit. I was not given an unlimited budget but was told to get a watch that will stand up and last. When I put it on everyone ask if I dive. I did not. I loved it at the time. Still love it. I knew the jeweler so he gave me a discount I payed around $700 to $800 for it he took a few extra hundred off it. He still made profit but not much. I still wear it. It a good solid watch. At the time I had one of the most expensive watches in high school through college. I will not stop wearing it.
Todd O'Brien so i just recently purchased a tag heuer autavia cy2111 from a coworker worth $2K and i wanna know if its worth it. The watch is beautiful. Wasn’t a fan at first but the more i look at it the more i fall inlove lol. Just wanna ask for personal opinion
You know what I love about industrial plants in the Swiss watch industry? It seems the workers can always look out of the windows and see fields and mountains! ;-)
I love my Rolex and Breitling but I'm thrilled with my 2 TAGs! The Aquaracer is so unique! Rolex Explorer II Breitling Chronomat TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre S TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph
Me too... have an Explorer II 16570, used to own a Breitling Bentley, Ball Trainmaster, Oris Aquis, Panerai Luminor 1950, and Zenith El P. But this video motivated me to get a 2019 Carrera Calibre 16 in Titanium. I only appreciate the quality of my Zenith more. They make a great watch for the price.
Probably the best, most succinct, intelligent and balanced presentations about watches I've seen. Total respect. And a help to many. Any videos on Raymond Weil ? . Bought a Tango 41mm with blue dial and gold plated bracelet and case. Stunning watch. Any info greatly appreciated
My respect for you as a gentleman and as a fellow was just elevated by margins as you described thoughtfully, how each brand and model deserves appreciation for the effort that went into its design and creation by people who are relevant and considerable as any wearer, collector or critic.
I love my Aquaracer. It's in the shop having some work done on the bracelet and I can't wait to get it back. Makes me feel like a kid anxiously waiting for Christmas.
@W.S K.E I literally own every one of those brands. The TAG is on par or better built than all of the mid range Swatch group watches, especially Tissot.
Buying the watch for yourself and not others' opinions is great advice. These videos about the heritage of watchmaking companies are very educational in an enjoyable way.
bro, thank you for the tag/heuer factory tour. it happens to be my favorite brand. i think your review of the brand was very even-handed, which i think is a very laudable character trait in a reviewer. your comments about the effort and work that goes into making something like a watch highlighted the piece of a person that also goes into its production. these are aspects that should never be lightly dismissed. without them, there would be no product. coming from a cynical, quick-to-judge, white bread culture, your mention of them only further spotlights things that lack the attention that, by all rights, they should rightfully enjoy. great job and good luck in your future endeavors. sincerely, philip dahlquist arizona, usa
I bought an AquaRacer last year. I really love the look of this diver. I wear it everyday, so it has picked up a lot of character. The crystal and bezel remain perfect. It runs about 5 seconds fast a day since new. Really happy.
The aquaracer is my favorite. I get lots of compliments though as to the negatives, well I can only assume it’s due to people’s ignorance or how great of a watch they really are.
Thanks for the great video! My first " nice" watch was a TAG Heuer like many other military member because TAG is carried by the US Armed Forces Exchange shops unlike brands like Rolex and Omega ( I own a Speedy and Explorer II) . A military guy can save a few bucks on a deployment and get a good Swiss watch will work for years to come for around $2k or less. You hit the nail on the head with TAG's accessibility leading to watch snobs dogging the brand but that accessibility made me fall in love and seek out their vintage watches. I am a very happy owner of a Viceroy Autavia 1163 on a red/black rally that makes people drool at the poker table. I appreciate the look at the factory and some unbiased info on a historic brand.
Good commentary TGV! This was my second viewing of this video 👍 My dad, he is 96, purchased a Formula 1 quartz diver waz1120.bb0879, last year In Arizona, during a errand with a caregiver when they were going to lunch, it's a beautiful two tone piece. He wore it untill yesterday when he gave it to me. I was really surprised, I tried to talk him out of it but he insisted. I will proudly wear it and always think about my dad..! Thanks again for the video! And Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Tag heuer was the first luxury watch brand I paid attention to, my dad always talked about getting one when he finished his time in the Royal Navy. He got one when he left and that is the main reason the brand has meaning to me.
What a wonderful connection to a brand, those one are always the best. A special thanks to your father for his service and to you for sharing the story. Best regards, TGV
The Urban Gentry really enjoy your videos so please keep up the good work. P.s I work in the RAF and got myself a breitling navitimer after watching your reviews, it’s a nice link with the job 😉
Same with me, first watch I bought 6months ago that cost me over £50,and it was a seiko samurai prospex, srpb51k1, paid £320 brand new, I'm so addicted now, its causing arguments with my Mrs, I'm spending too much time on the Internet looking for a bargain, vintage, divers, grand seiko is my holy grail, one day,
@Tyke Man thanks for that, yeah I'm absolute stuck on Seiko now, Divers, vintage, presage, sarb, skx, then if I get the chance I'll get a snowflake grand Seiko, I forgot there's some"king Seiko's" knocking about too. Absolute addicted. Thanks Tyke man.
In reality a seiko 5 is all the watch you'll ever need I have one as my daily wearer. To be fair I can't afford a decent watch so I collect budget watches. I picked up a lovely Rotary Greenwich skeleton automatic the other week with the solid miyota 8n24 movement fitted the case and bracelet are fairly good quality and it has a sapphire crystal. Only cost me £200 which I thought was a steal.
Unfortunately that was the worst of repro McQueen watches. It's alright in and of itself, just the worst iteration. Go back and watch the prison murder sequence and watch him push the wrong button to start timing and other errors.
I started loving watches through TAG. I desired almost 5 years before I purchased my first TAG watch. I definitely love it. TAG HEUER FORMULA 1 Alarm watch 😍😍
Got my first TAG Heuer Formula 1 at the back end of 2011 and have loved it since, I've never really had any issues with it beyond normal wear and tear, I ordered another one this past weekend, took delivery today and I'm just as satisfied this time around.
I think Tag Heuer has done an incredible job on the design of the most recent Aquaracer. I think many people bash them because of their weird quartz pieces they were putting out in the 90s.
@@LG-ov7oj I've been sporting that myself for a few years and love it! It looks and feels great and has really held up beautifully. The ceramic bezel looks brand new still and I wear it every day.
My mom gave my father a tag heuer Se/L like ayrton senna's when they got married back in 1991. It still looks perfectly and works awesome, i am old enough now (17) and my father has handed it down to me. I love it. Im saving up to buy a new tag when I turn 18 in march.
Great story. Your mom has great taste. My dad, alas, only likes casio ani-digis or digital watches, while I only like analogs (and hate ani-digis 😭), so whatever watch he may hand me down will not be my cup of tea.
Lots of love for Tag Heuer below. All these watch TH-camrs and rarely a mention of Tag Heuer. Thanks for doing these. You asked for recommendations of what to review, how about critical review of the new Carrera 3 hand?
Love my formula 1. I’m retired military and have a goal to have a Rolex 1 day. But for now I love my tag and it keeps time spot on! And unless anyone wants to pay my bills or buy my watches I’m the only one who has to be satisfied with it. Great video mate, keep up the quality vids!
I’ve got a 20+ years old quartz S/EL and it’s still working. Another TAG which I’ve owned for more than 6 years and wear it so often is a simple 3-hand quartz F1. Never get bored of them. I think TAG Heuer watches are robust and serve me well in any occasion and activities.
The Urban Gentry and London Watch Collector are the best Watch based channels on TH-cam both are true watch fans and enthusiasts ty for the great content
A very thoughtful video on the brand of Tag Heuer. Well informed and evidence based giving us a snapshot of the brand's factory. As pointed what is important is the overall contribution of Tag Heuer to horology, motorsport and respect what the people in the company have achieved over the decades. Yes some mistakes and regrets are inevitable in any company of such scope and long lifetime but overall Tag Heuer is one of key players in mechanical watches.
I haven't taken my aquaracer off my wrist since Christmas. Wifey did good. I look forward to a carrera in the future but the aquaracer I'm confident I can do anything with it
TAG is like any other brand: They've made regrettable decisions, they've created some really cool watches too. I hated on them for much of the 90's and 00's, but then they came out with the metal-bezel Aquaracer. That's a return to fine design if any.
Thank you for your review! I bought recently a TAG Huer Carerra Automatic Limited Edition Chronograph which I am super excited about! Thank you for your honest opinions both good and bad. Please keep doing what you are doing.
I used to travel a lot and wanted a 4th hand watch. I choose the TAH Heuer Carrera Twin Time as I was jumping between 2 and 12 time zones almost every week. I really could not afford it but my father had recently passed away and I use some of the inheritance to purchase it. I think of my mother and father every time I look at it. That alone made it worth it to me. Recently I was visiting a friend in England that I had not seen in about 3 or 4 years. He is seriously into F1 racing (as in he is employed in that industry). I noticed he was wearing what looked like a new TAG Tachymeter. When I asked him about it, he said he choose it because of the TAG he had seen e wearing in previous years. I was very proud and I think my Dad would have been as well.
Hi TGV, thanks for producing such a wonderful video highlighting TAG and their history etc. I have always been a fan of the Link, as I really do love the fishbone bracelet, and the understated size. The majority of my collection are divers, and Seiko, however I would love a white faced TAG Heuer Link one day - second hand of course. Cheers.
I'm really interested in getting a Tag Heuer Aquaracer but my friends are pretty much against it for the price, after watching this Video, The keyword I found is "Insecurity"..Just buy the watch you really like, not what other people like.
I so agree with your sentiments sir! Over the years I managed to purchase decent entry level watches for my three teenage children. One of these watches (in the 90's) was indeed a Tag Heuer - my daughters choice based entirely on aesthetics and brand. She was always happy with it although it was not the most expensive - just above entry level maybe. The point I'm trying to make here is that everyone has to start somewhere, and all these years later, as my career progressed and I could 'climb the watch ladder'a little' I never regretted buying any of those watches (eventually including Rolex and Cartier). Whether the value rose or dipped a little, we all just appreciated them as the mechanical marvels they are. It's the passion that counts.
I purchased a Carrera Calibre 1887 on a whim. I found out that the Cal 1887 is a 150th anniversary movement which is only their 4th ever in house movement so thought this may be a good investment in particular. I have the watch on a brown leather strap and I absolutely love wearing it. It’s a little on the thick side (16 mm) but knowing it would easily achieve COSC certification shows it’s a quality movement and timepiece. Great video ... well balanced
I used to be down on Tag Heuer before I owned one as some I had seen on others were very badly beaten up but I realised that was because they actually got worn by their owners. I now own three and I have to say they are actually insanely good value for what you get, my Aquaracer being my favourite of them.
@@heavyonestyll9023 still have it and wear it and yes a calibre 5 automatic. I’m mostly rotating it with my Tudor BB58 or Milgauss. I’m thinking it will probably need a service soon although. It’s a really great watch that wears well and keeps good time although nowhere near as well as the BB58 which is only 1 sec out after 3 or 4 days wear!
Elegant and smart way to talk about ethics, respect of the work and culture of an organization while you keep being authentic. My next watch could be a tag heuer now. :)
Perfect timing. I’m trying to buy my first “higher end” watch on a not so baller budget. My max budget is 1200-1500 tops. I have been torn between a vintage Omega or possibly a Tag.
Vintage can be kinda dangerous if you do not know what to look after. For your first "higher end" watch you might be better off with buying something new. You might also check Sinn, Hamilton or Baltic watches.
I'd always considered TH to be more of an entry level watch with the exception of a Monaco, if I had £1500 to buy a classic watch I would be looking at a used Fortis Cosmonaut, a truly amazing timepiece with an illustrious history, just ask TGV he has owned 2 of them.
Thank you for an objective review of a great company. One of my favorites of all time. I grew up in Germany and walked by a Heuer shop and sign twice daily. I went to Nürburgring several times- and they were everywhere. I spent months in Firenze over the past several years - and walked past the Tag Heuer shop multiple times daily. And I finally bought the AQUARACER 300m Caliber 5. And I love it. And now, about that Monaco Gulf release.......
Thank you so much for this video. You really provide an objective overview by taking into consideration the technical production aspect as well as delving into the back story and history of the brand. Key thing, for me, that you mentioned was application of quality control throughout production process as oppose to near final stages of production. Have subscribed and look forward to seeing more content. 🙌🏾
My wife bought me the watch I have been dreaming about for the last 3.5 years today for my birthday. Such a surprise that I wasn't expecting. The Tag Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull (caz1014.ba0842) chronograph. Beautiful watch and watching this about the Tag Heuer factory gives me so much more appreciation for it! Thanks!
A few years ago , my wife started doing overtime at work , working Sundays etc. She wouldn't tell me why. Turns out she started working overtime around July to buy me a Tag Heuer F1 watch , she knew I liked that particular model think it's caz1110 , and worked her backside off to get me one. You're lucky having such a great wife
What a lovely wife you have.cherish her.
how fuckin wholesome, that's sweet man, congratulations on your watch and beautiful wife, treat her well my man.
She sounds amazing, sir.
Thats really inspiring us . Thank you for sharing sir !
It’s a shame more people don’t have your mentality!
Thats really inspiring! Im in the UK and am currently in college, i've worked for a couple of months now and am saving up for an Aquaracer due to loving the style😁 Thank you for your story!
I know what you mean mate!I did the same thing with a Seamaster.Finished uni and after years of miserable salaries, I saved up and bought one.
Father?

Same goes for tag.
Rolex at minimum. Tag heuer = swatch no differences in between
Good man.who cares if other people dont like them.i would like the aquaracer calibre 5.really nice watch.
Only people that don't line these are watch snobs that think you gotta over pay to have a good watch
well said Charles !!! get a watch for yourself not for other people.
I bought a Heuer 1000 in the ,80's before they became tag Heuer
My Dad left me his 1982 Heuer Pasadena to me when he passed away, and it is my most cherished watch, and one of my most cherished possessions. He wore it every day of his working life from 1982 until around 2010 when he retired. Watching him tap it on his palm to wind it every morning at the breakfast table is one of my favorite memories. That was THE watch that started my love of watches. It has been serviced only one or two times in its near 40 years, and still keeps perfect time. Incredible watch.
👍
Mad respect for this company review. I'm not a fan of Tag Heuer, just not my cup of tea, but it's a good brand and I wouldn't mind owning one of their pieces. I quite like a few of their newer pieces but I never thought this brand was low quality, just not my style. Thanks for the commentary of the tour.
Since my early adulthood I've wanted a Tag Heuer watch. Now at 43 years I bought my first one carrera calibre 02 black. I love it.
It's refreshing to hear a balanced review about Tag Heuer. I paid about $2500 for my Tag GMT and love it. According to one of your competitor watch reviewers, who admittedly never owned or experienced a Tag, I wasted my money.
Hope you are still enjoying it. Great purchase
What that archie luxury?
Tag Heuer.
Good enough for Senna.
Good enough for McQueen.
Good enough for me.
Just because somebody else owned something doesn't mean their coolness transfers to you.
@@Mister_Phafanapolis Thanks for tip, bud 👍
Well if fat Thor wears them...it’d good for me!
McQueen never wore a TAG Heuer.
@@lbjackson3803This goes into the whole realm of semantics but he did wear an Heuer, in the form of a Monaco, in the film 'Le Mans'.
You will only find comments like that in a video about TAG Heuer. No other watch brand needs that kind of comment.
I know this is an old comment but just curious about my tag.
Have you had it serviced/ seals replaced? If so how often/how many times?
Love these stories, I wish I can keep a watch long enough without flipping it 😅
Great to hear . I love watches that people arent to scared to wear an last…..thats why i bought 1
I just bought a professional 2000 and already interested in S/el… Other people's opinions should never be cared.
i love how humble this guy is. keep it up just got a tag heuer aquaracer 43mm white dial love it so far
Who else thinks quality timepieces would make a better wedding "band" than a ring? 😊
(Edit: thanks for the likes.. I've never had this many on any comment!)
except if the marriage goes south, I have no problem parting with a ring...but a watch I like ??? oohh... that's a sticky wicket...
Absolutely - I got an engagement Christopher Ward from my fiancee 👍
@@scottcrawford3745 you would not be parting with the watch. She'd leave with hers, and you with yours
IN 1980 my wife gave me a simple Citizen Quartz dress watch. 39 years on, it still runs perfectly. I can't remember when I last changed the battery.
Just got gifted a formula one as my first "serious" watch and I couldn't be happier. Such a great looking piece
Superb review. Well balanced and considered! The world needs more of this
I got 5 Tag Heuers, a Carrera one of my favorite watches, an aqua racer, and 3 Formula 1s
I got Tag Aquaracer in 2006. It was my first luxury watch. Still love it.
Glad you been enjoying your watch Dominik !!!
I recently inherited a 72 Heuer Autavia, the same model that you showed. It has quickly become my favorite watch.
Much more collectible vs modern 'tag heuer'versions. Esp. Sieffert..hold onto that one
I have an aquaracer- one of the best looking watches in my collection. I did not set out to get a tag but it really caught my eye.
Love the aquaracer line
I own a Tag Heuer Carrera which I have had for over 25 years. It has been a great watch and I still enjoy wearing it.
I’m just here for the jingly jangly reference.
Had my Tag for 17 years, still going strong, second Bracelet. Great buy.
My first big brand watch was a TAG I bought new in the mid 90s. Stainless quartz that I beat to death and I still own it and it still runs.
awesome ! sounds like you got your moneys worth
my parents bought me a brown carrera calibre 16 as my first ever watch... I still have it and it looks so sporty and I still love wearing it... ! thanks for making this video TGV!
Good on you TGV, seeing how others are deserving of respect only multiplies your own as well as spreading it to others to whom you have taught
The best thing about my Tag Heuer calibre 5 , is
It makes me feel good
And that's what matters at the end of the day
It IS a very nice watch!
And that, my friend, is the whole reason for wearing it. It's a reward which you've earned.
Ok I'm jealous. Graham that's a very smart watch.
You know what I love about industrial plants in the Swiss watch industry? It seems the workers can always look out of the windows and see fields and mountains! ;-)
Its actually the law there. All offices must have an outside view. It makes buildings effing expensive!

I love my Rolex and Breitling but I'm thrilled with my 2 TAGs! The Aquaracer is so unique!

Breitling Chronomat
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre S

Nice foursome 👍⌚
Me too... have an Explorer II 16570, used to own a Breitling Bentley, Ball Trainmaster, Oris Aquis, Panerai Luminor 1950, and Zenith El P.
What work is required on a bracelet?

After watching this video, i looked into TAG Heuer watches, and i now have a grail watch...the Monaco
Beautiful elegant watch
I recently picked one up after dreaming about it for 20+ years. Caliber 11. I couldn’t be happier. Happy you got one as well. 🙌🏼
Love the Monaco so damn much!
Me too the golf.
@W.S K.E I literally own every one of those brands. The TAG is on par or better built than all of the mid range Swatch group watches, especially Tissot.
Buying the watch for yourself and not others' opinions is great advice. These videos about the heritage of watchmaking companies are very educational in an enjoyable way.
bro,
thank you for the tag/heuer factory tour. it happens to be my favorite brand. i think your review of the brand was very even-handed, which i think is a very laudable character trait in a reviewer. your comments about the effort and work that goes into making something like a watch highlighted the piece of a person that also goes into its production. these are aspects that should never be lightly dismissed. without them, there would be no product. coming from a cynical, quick-to-judge, white bread culture, your mention of them only further spotlights things that lack the attention that, by all rights, they should rightfully enjoy.
great job and good luck in your future endeavors.

You are exactly right
Same! Enjoy it
Thanks for the great video!
Great video. I bought a carrera a couple weeks ago and now I stair at my wrist all day at work. Got the blue dial and love it.
Best regards,
TGV
The Urban Gentry really enjoy your videos so please keep up the good work. P.s I work in the RAF and got myself a breitling navitimer after watching your reviews, it’s a nice link with the job 😉
Just bought my first Automatic! A Seiko 5 with display back. Thanks for turning me on to the watch game.
good choice for starting out....watch out - it becomes addictive!
Same with me, first watch I bought 6months ago that cost me over £50,and it was a seiko samurai prospex, srpb51k1, paid £320 brand new, I'm so addicted now, its causing arguments with my Mrs, I'm spending too much time on the Internet looking for a bargain, vintage, divers, grand seiko is my holy grail, one day,
Good choice, enjoy your watch.
@Tyke Man thanks for that, yeah I'm absolute stuck on Seiko now,
Divers, vintage, presage, sarb, skx, then if I get the chance I'll get a snowflake grand Seiko,
I forgot there's some"king Seiko's" knocking about too.
Absolute addicted. Thanks
Tyke man.
And don’t forget the Monaco worn by Walter White...
How can anyone forget that, gave that watch a new meaning.
Unfortunately that was the worst of repro McQueen watches. It's alright in and of itself, just the worst iteration. Go back and watch the prison murder sequence and watch him push the wrong button to start timing and other errors.
He's no James Bond, for sure
A good looking watch, possibly a future collectible now it’s been discontinued.
timing has to be perfect to get the blue crystal
I heard they started it started with quartz thats why they retain the quartz lineup.
Because these old watch sobs cant ever open their minds. Id like to see some old fat guy tell a navy seal his Gshock is a POS
The aquaracer calibre 5 automatic is superb. Beautiful watch
They're still churning out a ton of quartz watches. It really cheapens the brand in a lot of folks' eyes.
Buy new on grey market they have crazy retail price . Just sold a carrera for 900$ while it was 2700 at the ad
That’s awesome. Enjoy that watch! Someday I’ll give mine to my boys.
What a great piece your father has handed down to u! Good luck with saving for a new one!
Great story. Your mom has great taste. My dad, alas, only likes casio ani-digis or digital watches, while I only like analogs (and hate ani-digis 😭), so whatever watch he may hand me down will not be my cup of tea.

I love my two tags. A Carrera and Aquaracer. Great watches for the price range.
Those are the exact two Tags I have. I've always enjoyed mine. Maybe wish I bought it on the second hand market, but worth it all the same.

@@FehadBilgramiChannel1 The Monaco is my favorite Tag watch, lots of other good watches for the same price point but iv always loved the look of it.
This guy has a very relaxing voice.
They will take a beating. That is not true for similarly priced Swiss watches. So much of the anti-Heuer hate comes from anti-Quartz snobbery.
I look forward to a carrera in the future but the aquaracer I'm confident I can do anything with it
You won't be disappointed with the CARRERA my friend, it's absolutely amazing !
TAG is like any other brand: They've made regrettable decisions, they've created some really cool watches too. I hated on them for much of the 90's and 00's, but then they came out with the metal-bezel Aquaracer. That's a return to fine design if any.
“All watches, whether you like them or not, are made by people who have worked hard to produce them.”
This.
Well said.
This came to me in the nomos factory tour clip just this morning and he stated it precisely here. Spooky.
I’m a proud owner of a Tag Heuer Kirium chronograph quartz and a 1 year old quartz Monaco ❤️❤️

@W.S K.E lol
Great video ... well balanced
the basic tag formula 1 quartz is one of my favorite watches
Mine too!
@W.S K.E like what?
Mine too, I own 2 Tag Quartz both beautiful that people notice right away, as much as they do my Omegas and Tudor.
I used to be down on Tag Heuer before I owned one as some I had seen on others were very badly beaten up but I realised that was because they actually got worn by their owners. I now own three and I have to say they are actually insanely good value for what you get, my Aquaracer being my favourite of them.
2 years later how is the aqua racer? Did you get the automatic?
@@heavyonestyll9023 still have it and wear it and yes a calibre 5 automatic. I’m mostly rotating it with my Tudor BB58 or Milgauss. I’m thinking it will probably need a service soon although. It’s a really great watch that wears well and keeps good time although nowhere near as well as the BB58 which is only 1 sec out after 3 or 4 days wear!
I own three TAG Heuer watches. I really adore them. They were happy purchases.
Trinsit Wasinudomrod I have four they great Monaco carrera aquaracer and link Chrono excellent quality
Loved your conclusion in this video. Not snobbery, not technical nit picking... 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
You might also check Sinn, Hamilton or Baltic watches.
mike burns make sure you check out Hamilton, Certina & Oris, too!
I'd always considered TH to be more of an entry level watch with the exception of a Monaco, if I had £1500 to buy a classic watch I would be looking at a used Fortis Cosmonaut, a truly amazing timepiece with an illustrious history, just ask TGV he has owned 2 of them.
Hamilton would be my pick. In the entry level range they have the best watches IMO.
get a TAG instead of vintage Omega...
Although I’m not a TAG guy......
The Aquaracer is on my hit list.
Thank you so much for this video.
You really provide an objective overview by taking into consideration the technical production aspect as well as delving into the back story and history of the brand.
Key thing, for me, that you mentioned was application of quality control throughout production process as oppose to near final stages of production.

Thanks!
