While the “sk5” is starting to grow on me, the Seiko Skx007 has my vote as does its little brother the Skx0013. The snk803 was the gateway drug that I am still enamoured with.
When I get around to purchasing my first Seiko I decided I'll start with the Seiko 5 SNK809 since it's so affordable. I'd also like to get the Seiko "Arnie" as I am a huge fan of his and he made that watch pretty badass. And now I want that "Darth Vader" lol.
This is easily one of my favourite Urban Gentry videos to date. Hugo was right: this is a treat. Thank you, TGV, for your work on this piece. This is a wonderful way to unwind (pardon the horrible pun) and start the weekend. Cheers to you and cheers to the weekend, my friend. 🍷
I’m kind of new to the whole watch scene, but have been pointed in the direction of Seiko for something sensible, classy and affordable. This was very insightful thank you.
The 55 Fathoms was my first foray into Seiko watches, doing the dial swap myself. Also worth noting that the water resistance of the Seiko 5 watches is 100m, which equals 55 fathoms. Another reason for the nickname!
I’ve had the seiko sea urchin for about 2 years now and it’s awesome I use to get compliments everyday on the watch when I first started wearing it and I still love it and wear it almost everyday
I love it when you review watches that would not be carried by Watchbox due to their relative affordability (with the exception of a couple on your list). I’m wearing my silver “Pogue” today which is one of many that I own. The history of it is inspiring.
My Street series Solar Tuna arrived yesterday, and today, there it is, a legend. I’m sure the two are not connected. The solar Tuna really is very nice. Legible, comfortable, and not at all bulky. Everything lines up perfectly. Does feel different gravy, to a G Shock. Happy days.

I was thinking the same thing. It's odd that the (arguably) the most popular models don't join in on the nickname fun. I guess the model identifier "SKX" is so recognizable on its own that a nickname isn't needed. Great thought, though.... I'm curious about this, as well. Cheers!
EXCELLENT video, summarize the Seiko legacy and majesty - and your passion for them! It makes me happy as a watch enthusiast that those legends remain at a “lower” price point. 👍
Just wanted to drop you a note on how much you have meant to me and my new love for mechanical watches. I inherited a Rolex Sub Mariner and started looking for watch channels when I found the Urban Gentry. After watching everything you had my interest expanded into the horology of of watches and I developed a real appreciation for the art of watchmaking. I decided to take an online class on watchmaking so that I would be able to further my knowledge of mechanical watches as well as buy broken pieces and bring them back to life to further my watch collecting. Now it is turning into a sickness. As I get further into the whole watch hobby at a higher level, I still always come back to your channel to get your insights and option on watches of all price levels. Thank you for lighting the fire.
Greetings from the Philippines. I was undecided about buying a Hamilton or Tissot when I chanced upon one of your videos extolling the virtues of Seiko's Prospex models. I purchased my first Seiko (a Seiko 5) watched 20 years ago and it still keeps reliable time after all these years. I just came back from an authorized Seiko Store and bought a "Samurai"! It's an early Christmas present for myself. I will be alternating the Samurai with my G-Shock and trusty Seiko 5 as my everyday watch.
The Seiko Arnie is the first watch I visually recognized and remembered as a kid. Didn't realize Captain Willard had one too! The Doxa Sub 300 "Black Lung" and the 300T "Dirk Pitt".

I feel like a kid (damn near 38) whose favorite show has just come on every time I see your videos pop up. They never let me or my son down. Onwards and upwards. Thanks TGV!!
