    Your daughters are beautiful and so interesting to be open to traveling to new places, learning a new language and culture, making new friends. Agree that they are probably safer in Merida than most US cities. You and your wife are doing a great job.

    My kids are about the same age as yours! Wow! I've been working on getting them into Universities (three years away). SCHOLARSHIPS are pretty-much the way that they'll be able to go. By contrast, the University of Guadalajara costs $1000 USD per semester, and I'm seriously considering moving to Mexico for that opportunity alone.

      I met someone here who said one could become a lawyer for less than $7,000 (in US dollars) and one of the typical universities and a doctor for under $10,000 - $15,000. I'm gonna dig deeper into this topic because that's insane. Get your kids here now so they can learn the SPanish to be able to take advantage of that opportunity

    Cute girls❤Its true about the piercing, one of first jobs was piercing ears. There was about a 15 minute training watching the store manager… after that I was free to do my thing. We did mark the ears though… and sanitized them well with the alcohol wipes.😂😂

    I just found this video now! In regards to Charlie: I started pole fitness in 2015. I had chronic back pain for over 10 years that was inoperable. I had to change careers because of my back pain. 2 months after starting pole fitness my pain was GONE!!! Not better… gone ❤!!!
    It’s honestly the best thing I could have done for my physical strength and self esteem. Not everyone teaches minors, but some will with parental consent. I loved it so much I am not a certified pole instructor. I also teach twerk, chair dance and lap dance
    And I do plan to teach my kids pole fitness as well. It is safe and fun. Cartess: you should try a class!! I have taken them in Merida. Fun fact: pole dancing first started with men in China and India

    Wow, Mr Cartess what a beautiful family you have. Those little ladies are doing exactly what your channel says…”thriving”. The underlying thing I see that is so clear to me is how your children can just be children as you live in Mexico. They have a life style they didn’t have in America and they love it. I think that’s so awesome and you should be proud of what you’ve created for your family. Through all of the ups & downs I’m sure it brings you joy to see them happy. ❤️ I love that you mentioned you encouraged your children to shop small business. People forget that the wage earned in Mexico is different than America and giving back to small business is a nice approach when you can do it. This was such a treat to have the girls on, please tell them thank you and I’m soooooo happy to see them both doing well. 🙌🏼😊

    You have given your daughters a gift that is priceless and that is at a young age to see, they can live life in a different way. That the American way of life is not the only way of life. Life is so much bigger than how big your house is or the street you live on. You open their minds to learning new cultures and meeting new people and that is something no school can teach and no book can give. ASOMBROSA!!!

    Congratulations 🎉 1 year!!! Cartess, I enjoyed the interview with your beautiful daughters. I have some questions for the live stream. 1. Do you daughters miss family and friends in America? 2. Is Haley dating? 3. What's your favorite Mexican dish? 4. How do your wife and daughters take care of their natural hair? 5. Is there a clubhouse for teenagers and young adults with mental illness, Haley can make friends with people who know exactly what she's going through? Will you be buying a forever home in Mexico? 6. What's the biggest sacrifice you've made moving to Mexico from America? 7. How has your wife adjusted to living in Mexico?

    Your daughters are very encouraging about not being afraid to try to speak Spanish with locals. I have been living in Mexico more years that I would like to admit. I am very timid about speaking Spanish because of pronunciation. I tend to take the easy way out which is not good. Because I live in a Mexico town close to the USA border most people speak English I don't try to use what I have learned in Spanish. Culturally it's better to speak the Spanish language. I am surprised the UBER drivers will take Teenagers without an adult on Uber rides in the USA Uber drivers won't take teens without an adult.

    • @MoveAbroadandThrive
      @MoveAbroadandThrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. It took a minute for me to get comfortable but as time went by, i felt more at ease. Fact is, crime is everywhere, no place is 100% safe, not even the US. I teach them right from wrong and teach them to trust their instincts and talk about safety measures, etc. I can't keep them locked away forever. And mine are a little older (14 & 16). I still keep tabs on them and have them give me live locations when they leave, etc. They usually go together most times. I'm no stricter here than i was in the States. Always a constant worry in the back of my mind.

      I'd bring your own phone for sure. It'll probably be cheaper and much newer. Just make sure it's unlocked and then you can switch to local provider. I use both AT&T and Telcel (I have a dual sim phone). The TelCel provider seems to give me more consistent and reliable coverage.

    Love your videos. I would like to know more about the heat. Is it really that bad in Merida? How affordable are places on the beach? Would you recommend a house or apartment/condo as your first place. We are a married couple with 2 small children. How much cash in USD do you recommend having saved before you come? Thank you! I will be contacting you about paid consultations but wanted to ask some general questions for the live.

    Your videos have really intrigued me and would love to check out merida
    My plan is to visit for a month the 1st time to see if I like it and if so do 6 months which is allowed being from Canada
    My question is do I need a Visa for a month and and where do you recommend I stay while exploring merida and surrounding areas

    • @MoveAbroadandThrive
      @MoveAbroadandThrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!!! The immigration agent will determine how much time you get when u arrive. They use to give 6 months like candy but now they're not doing it as often. Explain to them what you're doing here when u arrive and show proof that you may be leaving 3 or 6 months later to improve your chances of getting the time you need.

    Hello, I don't know if Haley would be interested in meditation for her issues, if she's open to it, I would highly suggest Dr Joe Dispenza (his meditations are science based), and she can listen to the audiobook, "Breaking the habit of being yourself", then, she can start meditating.
    You can find it in TH-cam and it is about 10 hours long, but really fascinating to read/listen.
    Felicidades!, for your first year in Mexico.✌️

      Not yet. I'd advise you get it done before coming. It's causing me more trouble than its worth by not having done it. It was not our intentions to stay but now that we have, i have to jump through extra hoops to stay here legally. I meet with my immigration attorney tomorrow. I'm hoping for good news :)

    Canada is vastly better as far as medical costs go. We don't pay anything for medical emergencies, operations etc. I went through full cancer treatment twice, where the thieving pharmaceutical companies make a fortune- but our health care covered almost all of it. However service is going down the tubes as we americanize and privatize our system. Mexico sounds vastly better when it comed to having a doctor and the services they provide.
    I was mad hearing other americans have told you " Speak proper English". What on earth is wrong with your english? Sounds great and normal to me. Glad you have more freedom in Mexico.
    May your family continue to thrive and have happy adventures. Bless you all.

      Thanks for talking ... 'Speak proper English' (she was referring to how other Americans treated other Spanish speaking people from other countries; many Americans would get angry and impatient when Spanish speakers didn't speak English good enough and would get upset). As compared to being here where the locals are extremely patient with those of us who don't speak SPanish well.

    Pole fitness is an excellent way to strengthen you core muscles-which a dancer needs. You have to be extremely strong to do a pole routine💪🏽. If you watch a true pole routine, it’s graceful and elegant. It’s true-Americans over sexualize everything🙄

    the best part of mexican life is the freedom of the day to day liberties control if not lost by goverment like the right to blast to music, the right to party legally crazy shit now in the USA if one invite to many ppl to your house they call big brother on you, in here as long as you have the municipality permit your party can run till sunrise but must have that permit.

    That's the right way to get an ear piercing. I got mine done in the 70s and we always used a sterilized needle. Poor, poor USA anything for a dollar. Capitalism on steroids. The old ways are usually the best ways. How many doctors in the USA will ever give their ph#and it's not their fault its just the system.
