Hey Everyone! I am finally getting around to giving you a house tour of our newest house in Merida, Mexico!
Although, we picked the older 8 bedroom home on House Hunters International, we ended up eventually getting a brand new home. It looks like my teens got what they wanted afterall!
Rentals in Merida vary. I have friends whose rent is as low as $75 to as high as $1500. There are tons of factors that go in it but the overall cost of living in Merida, Mexico is pretty affordable for expats.

I LOVE that home style. Open, airy and modern. I saw these homes on a real estate for sale site there, and they run from $112k to about $132k to buy. Very reasonable.

It might seem more affordable from USA perspective. But Mexico Mortgage interest is high.
10% to 20% in interest on a mortgage there.

      Example 150k home.
      20% down.
      Fixed 30 yrs.
      Interest 20%.
      P & I : $2,200
      Expensive

Of course, keep in mind you would be in their country and they want to be respect, dont be like some americans (fortunately most dont) when visiting México, they feel they come to conquest a third World country and get obnoshious by being americans, then you would be in troblues.
